DanEboyParticipantI wish LeBron would just shut up and play basketball. He tries wayyyy to hard to get people to like him, ironically, that is why most don’t like him.

EntropyParticipantI don’t hate him. The hate got ridiculous when he made "the decision", which he raised $500K for the Ohio Boys and Girls clubs. Why do people not appreciate (and remember) things like that? Seriously.

DanEboyParticipantEvery NBA player donates and helps raise money for charities, it’s in their contracts.

EntropyParticipant^ So basically you are trying to undermine what he did.

DanEboyParticipantI’m just saying let’s not act like he is Mother Theresa when all of the players do it, in most sports. It was a great thing for a good cause but he isn’t the only one who does it.

HaleParticipantLeBron James gets more irrational hate then any athlete in the history of sports. That’s an absolute fact.

Scottoant93ParticipantYou i know, just thought of this but how does the most hyped "decision" of the past 5 years only manage to get 500k when its being broadcasted on espn. This is not against lebron im just saying to go through all that trouble and not even hit a mil is kind of disappointing. If i was rich i would have just written a check for atleast 1 mil and annouced my decision on twitter or something.. i mean 500k is a lot of money and its went to a good cause but for all that hype and broadcasting etc going into it would you really call it a sucess compared to other events.

Jlv2011ways to raise money for charity. To go on television and announce your free agency decision is ridiculous. Especially for a guy with zero rings.

Scottoant93ParticipantEven though your right im just saying even if Kobe/MJ/KD/TD was making this decision and only gained 500k for his charity it still be a huge disappointment. I mean seriously im pretty sure steve nash annual soccer game gains 2-3x that much money in his charity and no one really talks about that or even shows besides some youtube vids.

mikeyvthedonParticipantLeBron’s fault.
I guess I understand the bitterness towards LeBron, but I found Perkins to be the one that looked ridiculous here. LeBron did not call him out more than ANYBODY else did on that dunk. He was honestly just trying to compliment a person a day after people were trying to go crazy over his own dunk over John Lucas. To me, all that tweet did was show that he likes watching basketball and gets excited by it. Is that not seen as a good thing, usually?
Here is a hypothetical. Let’s say LeBron never makes that tweet. I guess you could say, well, nothing happens. Not so sure about that. What if LeBron (inevitably) gets asked about the Griffin dunk on Perkins. Would he not after that dunk on Lucas? Pretty sure it could come up. What should LeBron’s answer be:
"Well, plays like that don’t excite me."
PLEASE! We all get excited by big plays. Jordan never pumped his fist? Kobe never moved his bottom teeth in front of his top teeth? If Perkins really did not care about being dunked on, than he would have no reason to point to LeBron as the issue. He just sounds bitter towards one of the millions of people who thought that play was sick. Have to say, Perkins better back-up this one or pay the consequences.
Because blaming LeBron for tweeting about this is kind of pulling at straws. I see no need for LeBron to apologize for this one, either. Perkins is just prolonging the fact that Blake Griffin destroyed him on this play. It would be one thing if the Clippers had not also won the game, but they did. Does not sound like Perkins looks at it as "just another play", I’ll tell you that much.

sheltwon3ParticipantIt is funny that Perkins call out Lebron mainly because he does not like him and then speaks that other great players does not get excited about plays on twitter. Didn’t Magic just tweet about Austin River’s 3.
I am just saying what Perkins said was stupid. If you hate Lebron then hate him but not because he tweets about a dunk that was very impressive. He did not even take a shot a Perkins so Perkins is being a punk. Be a man and quit crying over some nonsense.

Scottoant93Participantits also the same guy who called chris webber out after he critized him and said something along the lines of "chris get a ring before you start talking" or something along those lines. Lets be real Perkins won because of the big 3, yes he did contribute but perkins is not even half the player lebron or webber are/were. He is just a bitter man trying to draw attention away from himself sort of like a kid who does something bad and then says "well he/she did" to avoid embarrassment to himself.

Ghost01ParticipantI actually love LeBron’s response. Although, I would have just responded "Whose Kendrick Perkins? The fat guy?"

BiggysmallsParticipantWhile I do really dislike Perkins I actually think he was on to something with what he said. He went a bit overboard on it, but if you look at everything he said, is he wrong? Pumping your fist, putting your bottom jaw in front of your top teeth, and tweeting…which one doesnt belong. MJ was pumping his fist after he hit game winning shot, after game winning shot. Kobe probably tweaks his jawline, after hitting game winning shot after game winning shot.
Lebron can love the game just as much as the next guy, it doesnt mean he has to tweet about it, and while I don’t think he should be criticized for tweeting, it shows what kind of guy he is in a sense. He is more of an entertainer at this point…and that isnt necassarily a bad thing, its just not what people who have elevated him to the status he is at in terms of pure talent want him to be. Lebron is held to the same standard on the same pedastal as MJ and Kobe because of his freakish talent, and while it may not be fair, its the world we live in.
Perkins probably shouldnt have said what he said, but it doesnt mean he wasnt correct. He is saying what everybody has said and thinks about Lebron. Its annoying but they are not invalid points.
