For_Never_EverParticipantI dont get it, he wasnt reckless, took good shots, wasnt ball hogging. I also didnt see him doing anything making himself look like he was trying to be above everyone. That is why I called you an Idiot.

theasianpersuasionParticipantHe’s 3-11 so far… There was a stretch in the first where he totally cut Chris Paul out the game because he wouldn’t give up the ball, and he definitely had a few bad shots that went nowhere near the rim early on in the game. He’s decent now, but it wasn’t so good earlier…
But it’s the first game… I’m sure they’ll get things straight sometime soon.

OhCanada-Participantrelax. Billups is a leader, he wont be anything else but a leader and when he sees that Chris Paul is struggling against Golden States zone defence he tries to assert himself as any leader would and change the momentum in favour for his team. Maybe they arent gelling now but this team is going to be scary soon. They have Paul, and Billups as lead gaurds, with Williams and Foye as backups not to mention having Bledsoe the sophmore on the roster although injured. Obviously the two small gaurd thery works, we saw that with Kidd and Terry last year as the Mavs won the Championship.
Butler is a very solid pllayer to have at the SF spot for any team in the NBA. Not only can he score at an effiecient rate, well rebounding solid, and defending starting wings but he is a great teammate and another experienced leader. He is also probally pretty motivated after watching his team win while from the sideline last year. Gomes is a solid utility bench player and versatile enough to play both forward positions.
Then with Superstar Blake Griffin at the PF position, a Top 3 PG Chris Paul, and Deandre Jordan who is rapidly improving LA is extremely dangerous. Cook will get some run as a stretch big as well. Honestly if this team gets some chemistry going they could be very hard to stop.

JRdaFilipinoParticipantits the first game of the season sheesh Billups will be hoisting up A LOT of shots this season… CP’s vision and/or double teaming Blake= a lot of open looks for Billups and if he’s open… he’s gonna shoot it

Future_Scouti don’t know if you were watching the game. what you said makes sense except he wasn’t only taking open shots, he took a couple of bad contested shots.

For_Never_EverParticipantI understand but he called him out first 15 mintues of the game. Look at Russel Westbrook 3rd quaater 6 turn overs straight. Billups I’m not bias but he is too level headed to be stupid. Plus SG are allowed somewhat to take excesses shot’s.

river09ParticipantI get -10 for quoting the dalai lama… just make comments that are well thought out and with supporting evidence… seriously guys… Billups is a very good shooter.. the best shooters have off days.. don’t jump to too many conculsions after one day..

2quick4uParticipant@ for_never_ever, I think we definetly saw a different game..
you say: "he wasnt reckless, took good shots, wasnt ball hogging", when that’s exactly what he was doing.(i’m talking about first half).
like theasianpersuasion says, he was 3-11 at that time but the thing is that it’s not about how many shots you take, it’s about how you take them, and yes billups was ball hogging, he played quite a few isolation plays and 2×2 plays. not only that but he was even bringing the ball up and playing as the point guard..
he totally took chris paul’s space, that’s why paul was disappeared and out of the game in the first half (0 FG made, only 1 triple and guess who got the assist..). not only that but because he wouldn’t give up the ball, griffin could not get involved in the game and scored his first basket after 7 min played..
and then look what happened in the second half when paul started to run the team and when he was the one playing those 1×1 and 2×2.. he made 6 FG(6-8) and had 7 ast while 0 FG and 2 ast in the first, and griffin scored 16 in the second..
i’m not saying billups does not have to shoot, of course he has to, but he has to shoot it when paul passes him the ball or griffin gets double teamed and not him trying to create his shot all the time.(also remind you he’s 35).
if the clippers wants to do something this season, chris paul has to be the one running the show.

PulseGlazerParticipantDid you stop to think, perhaps, that they were trying to have Billups initiate offense? Maybe he wasn’t calling his own number and it was a strategic choice since Monta Ellis is a poor defender, particularly willing to take himself out of position? Maybe since they knew the Warriors D was weak and it was game 1, the Clips were seeing what they have and exploring their options? You are making an awful lot of horribly bold proclimations about one of the NBA’s most efficient players for a decade based on a single half of basketball.

For_Never_EverParticipantYou make it seem like he pulled a Kobe Bryant from back in the day. When he would neglect everyone and just gun it and tried to dunk everything. Billups was far from that.
