Andre Drummond had a somewhat disappointing freshman season at Connecticut.

While he came into the season as a consensus top-three pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Drummond’s stock has fallen.

Two general managers said this week that they can foresee Drummond falling out of the top-five.

Drummond finished with averages of 12.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per 36 minutes. He had TS% of 51.3% and rebound rate of 16.7%.

Are these 2 GMs in Portland & Cleveland?  lol..

Becuz No Way this guy drops out of the top 3…He has too much upside….Besides Barnes and Davis who else will you take over him? Certainly not his teammate Lamb who in their 1st round lost, failed to show a take charge attitude you want from your best player…..If Lamb had Kemba’s heart,U Conn would still be playing…

No way he drops.  I think people forget that Favors who was also raw went 3rd in a pretty decent draft.  Drummond should not fall past 4 because he could actually be a legit Center if he grows an inch and may be able to do it now.  Center with his size and mobility are rare in the NBA.  A good point guard could help be better than McGee is in now in 2 years hopefully without the dumb moves.

Favors was actually pretty good at Tech: 12.4 and 8.4. And he had to share the post with Gani Lawal who was great.

With the major regression of Oriakhi, Drummond really should have done a lot more.

I don’t see Drummond dropping below 3 unless someone has a huge NCAA tournament but lets see if he declares first.

kinda hard for Drummond to show his talent when Napier and Lamb are chuckers. He never got enough touches.

If he’s guaranteed to go top 5, he should come out.  If NBA scouts and executives tell him he won’t go top 5,  he should return.  There are a lot of things he needs to work on, but if you get a guarantee in the top 5, it’s probably a good idea to leave.

It would be nice if UConn actually tried getting him the ball down low.  Most of his points this year came off put backs, alley oops, and transition buckets.  Granted he does just stand around on offense.  Someone mentioned it yesterday and it’s completely true.  The kid doesn’t move or try to get into a good scoring position.  He literally stands around and watches quite a bit.

I think he will come out.  I’m sure there is some team in the top 5 that will take the risk on his upside.  UConn is banned from post-season play next year, so that’s another reason why I feel Drummond will declare.

The top 10 is stacked with talent.  There are least half a dozen players I believe will have a better NBA career than Drummond…

But are there at least half a dozen players who Drummond couldn’t have a better career than if he reaches his potential?

A good point guard is not going to change his lack of motor or effort. Yes he will go high because of potential and just like other before him he won’t live up to it and end up being traded a good amount of times for his career.

A good point guard could change how his motor is utilized, he’s actually a very committed defender, and loves picking up guys on the perimeter and then locking them up, even if they are smaller than him. He does this because he’s had success doing so before so he’s conditioned to be motivated to continue.

If a good point guard rewards Andre for posting up consistently then he’ll start to focus on it more. Andre isn’t that lacking in motor or effort, he just doesn’t apply it properly on the offensive end because he’s never had to use fundamentals, so he’s not movitated but past success to use them. It’s the basic psychological process of operant conditioning coming into play.

It’d be a different story if he were lazy all over the court, but he simply hasn’t been guided properly on the offensive end into what he needs to do to succeed. His effort defensively gives me hope that he’ll figure it out in the right situation.

his defense has been improving steadily, and he’s got unreal quick feet, i can see him being a better defender than anthony strictly against the bigs, davis will be guard’s nightmare. but drummond lacks motor offensively, a big reason is because they’re not looking to feed him, so by nature players tend to make less aggressive cuts. but questions remain unanswered about his willingness take over games.

Drummond will be top 3 IMO. No way should someone take Robinson over him. Drummond can protect the rim, and for that reason, he’ll be an asset almost immediately. I’m guessing the top 3 will be Davis, Barnes, and Drummond. Not necessarily in that order, but those will be the first three names off of the board.

Gotta feel good about a guy, when you see decent but not overwhelmingly great statistics, and realize its per 36 minutes, not per game.

Future_Scout didn’t deserve all those Negs for saying he’d pick Thomas Robinson over Drummond. Keep in mind, Draft.net, Draftexpress, and ESPN all have Robinson going ahead of Drummond right now.

Drummond has been one of this site’s favorites, because of the potential, the upside, etc. He will fall in this draft. Probably still a top 5 pick, maybe 6th. There are a handful of really really good wing players (MKG, Barnes, Beal, etc) and two big men who are actually producing at the collegiate level (Davis and Robinson) so don’t be surprised to see Drummond slip a bit. That does not mean he won’t be good, or doesn’t have potential, or doesn’t have an NBA body. It means rolling the dice on his potential isn’t quite worth a top 2 pick at this time.

I know the feeling future scout… i can’t even drop it down to 17 for you becoz i gave you a +1 last time…

Too many sheep on here. T-Rob is a realistic pick, as soon as Aran dropped him down to 10 or 11 everyone else just followed… baa-baa
