I've watched the grizzlies since vancouver. big fan. They're lacking a true powerfoward on this team. The next problem is there's not enough talent off the bench, darko and warrick and arthur.. and warrick has to be resigned or let go.
If they're lucky they can grab griffin. If they get rubio, should they trade conely? or keep conely and move him to the bench. I think if they get thabeet, try and trade him off with jaric(contract) for a young talented pf, or a young sg + sf because they're full at the center position. If they can get jordan hill, nice, but does anyone know how big he actually is? i mean..they say he's 6'10 and 235....he looks 6'8 and 215. if they get harden or derozan, should they keep either? for bench filler?
and last, they have the 27th pick...which the mock says they'll take young. is blair a reach? if they were to get hansbrough, could they trade down for blair? The grizzlies need somebody nasty, physical, and big off the bench. what better than blair for a young team? also, if they do get the opportunity to dump jarics contract, should they draft the best available pg with the 27th pick rather than aiming for somebody like blair?
Blair will be gone by 27.
Why not trade that 1st rounder and try to get Stoudemire or Bosh?
I figured blair would be gone. but is it possible the grizz could trade young or hansbrough for blair...if neither were already taken?
Memphis would have to give up too much for bosh or amare. don't get me wrong, i'd love to see them on the grizz..it just shouldn't happen through trades.
i think Hill isn't 6'8''...he looks taller. He's like 6'9.5''
i wasn't sure about hill, thanks!
I think Hill can be helpful with Memphis considering they have a banger in Gasol
Of course Blake would be the ideal fit for Memphis, but if they were to get Rubio then there would be no need to trade Conley. He's a good PG and Rubio is not ready to come in and start on the nba level right now so it wouldn't make sense to trade Conley when we clearly need depth at all positions. Conley could start and Rubio would back him up. Hill could be a good fit for us too if we nab him but if we end up picking at 6 then I would like to take Earl Clark. He could create mismatches with his size and abilities. He would also be a great option for us off the bench as a 6th man if we let Hak walk.
You dont draft a guy #2 overall to be a backup
I'm not saying that he would be drafted by the Grizz as a career backup, but the fact of the matter is he would give us depth at the position long enough to determine whether or not to move him or Conley in the long run. You pick him....let him back up Conley....and if he impresses then you move Conley to the bench or trade him. But you know just as well as I do that depth is vital in the nba especially at the pg position and having two good servicable pg's (which the Grizzlies know all about) is better than just having 1 and a scrub for a backup.
If they get the 6th pick like they should, I can see them going a few different ways.
1. If Jordan Hill is on the board I think they should really take him.
2. Maybe they will package the 6th pick, Rudy Gay, and Marko Jaric for Amare. I don't know if salaries would match up exactly, so they may need throw some more people if there.
I also like the Grizziles, not because of the team, but cuz of Ovinton J'Anthony Mayo.
The Grizziles will be good after 3 years or so, and OJ Mayo (aka the next Kobe Bryant) will lead the league in points to help the Grizzilies to make the playoffs...
don't you mean wade? wade's increased his game. is a much better defender than kobe ever will be. also, wade and mayo are sized about the same. and i'm biased towards wade !!!! hahaha.
check out his forum if you haven't done so.
beasley's came off the bench last season.
