ZKParticipantSo I was thinking about how the Grizzlies might be able to get out of the #2 pick and I had an idea:
Suns Get: #2, Rudy Gay
Grizzlies get #14, Amare StoudemireThe Suns would have a chance to take Rubio and let him learn behind Nash for a year, which would be great for his development. They also get Gay who could be the #1 option on offense there.
The Grizzlies get their stud power forward in Amare, and have some flexibility at #14. They could take a small forward like Williams, Clark, or Johnson to replace Gay. Any of those guys would be guys who could play a role without demanding touches like Rudy.
Lineups:
PHO:
PG-Nash, Rubio
SG- Richardson, Barbosa
SF- Gay, Hill
PF- Barnes, Lopez
C- Shaq,MEM:
PG-Conley
SG- Mayo
SF- #13, Warrick if he resigns
PF- Amare, Arthur
C- Gasol, DarkoWhat do you think?

eprizzle14Participantthis seems like it could benifit both teams. I doubt Amare would want to go to Memphis but that’s not up to him.

gatorheelsParticipantThat is a great trade. Smart move for both teams.

rvirsalParticipantit’s smart if amar’e signs an extension. if not the memphis are giving up too much to rent a player who will not even make them a contender.

dragox34ParticipantI listen to ESPN radio all day at work and everyone seems to think the Suns are on the brink of a Shaq to Clevland trade. Where they get basically nada in return. I guess they are looking for some big time cap relief. That being said, I dont see them trading Amare for anything that doesnt involve another big. So maybe thay do this deal and pick up Hill with the number 2 pick. I’m not a big fan of Thabeet. I think he is just the second coming of Mutombo. By the way, Hedo is going to opt out of his deal, some say to head towards Clevland as well. Interesting….. Sorry to get off topic.

dolla33suns would have to keep amare because lets not forget cavs might be getting shaq

pintar23Participanti think the suns should just trade shaq and build around amare. amare is the best player on the team when healthy. so trade shaq to the cavs and try and squeeze their 1st round pick out of them and pick up taj gibson whos a lengthy athlete who can run the floor or patty mills who can be a solid back up to push the ball up the court. i just dont like the fact that they would trade and draft rubio. he isnt a sure thing and hes just another nash i think they need a different style of guard to back him up. i really like rudy gays game though

DirtyDezParticipant…heard on local radio today here in PHX that the Suns are willing to trade Amare to teams #2,#3 and #5 to get Rubio excluding Sacramento cuz they’re in the same division and may draft Rubio anyway… They want a decent player in return but wan’t to keep their #14 pick so they could get J.J. (Wake Forest) or E.C. (Louisville) who’s physically NBA ready to start at PF ahead of Louis Amundon. Matt Barnes will be released according to their sources, they both seem too small to play PF but when Amare went down last year Grant Hill started at PF at 6’7″… J.J. and Clarke are 6’9″-6’10” with wingspans over 7′– Also considering B.J. Mullens at #14

Ch13f23Participantits good if Amare resign or sign an extension in Memphis. but if not Memphis is in for a mess as usual.

d-grizzlyParticipantamare’ wouldn’t resign with memphis. memphis would lose gay outta this. terrible trade.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI agree. This deal would only go down if Amare sign like a 5 year/ 55 mil extension to stay.

maravich44ParticipantIf we had a crystal ball and Mutombo’s career was replicated by Thabeet, he might just go #1 in draft. Certainly no lower than #2. Trade is fair depending on Stoudemire’s signability and direction Suns wish to go. They need more than just cap space to trade Shaq or Amare. Gotta get youth or picks in addition to cap space in return.

d-grizzlyParticipantthabeet could easily be 3-4-5. i still think memphis will draft rubio for trade bait.

maravich44ParticipantMutombo is the upside of what people think Thabeet COULD be. If a crystal ball told you he’s best case scenario, why would his stock drop???????????????????????????? Mutombo is the epitome of a defensive center if you want boards and blocks as well as shots altered. Don’t understand how if he were #2 or #3 going in, how could he go lower. Defies logic.

jcjParticipantI think if they were sure Thabeet would be a Mutombo, then he would go in the top 3. Problem is Mutombo is the upside or max of what Thabeet could be. On the other hand, he could be a flop and end up being a Patrick O’Bryant. I think the key would be to be able to determine what his floor could be (of course not factoring injuries). If they can establish that it would settle his draft status. Right now though I think people are quite divided on him, with some seeing him with significant upside while others feel he is a big stiff.

leglockfanParticipantIt would take more than the #2 and Rudy for Amare and the #14.
If Memphis traded for Amare they could sign him to an extension now under this collective bargaining agreement to more money than he would make in 2010 by a good ammount since they are lowering it.
I could see something like Rudy #2 and #27 and maybe Arthur or Hak (in a sign and trade) for Amare + #14.
It isn’t a bad trade for either team. Amare would have to decide whether he wanted to be an instant winner on a big contender or rather be rich with Memphis which he very well could be a winner.
Gasol
Amare
#14 or Free Agent
Mayo
ConleyThat’s a 35-40 win team depending on pickups on the bench and no horrible injuries.
But who knows what will happen. To be honest I am routing for Kevin Love to join the Grizzlies because I admire his style of play

d-grizzlyParticipantrudy. #2, #27 arthur or warrick for amare? Signing amare an extension…in memphis? that’s a good joke man. this trade was a bad idea at first, and now you made it worse homey. no disrespect.

d-grizzlyParticipanti do like the kevin love deal though.
