I think Barnes is going to be okay and although he may not live up to his initial hype as a NBA superstar #1 overall draft pick.  I think he’s going to come on really strong in the NCAA tournament this season.  I could see him being a 17-22 ppg 5-6 rpg NBA player.  The kind of guy who is a fringe all-star who isn’t perennial, but makes the team a hand full of times in his career.  I think people are selling him a little short because of his slow start, but he’s made significant improvements in the 2nd half of the season and I expect him to continue that in the conference and NCAA tourney.

I like UNC to make at least a Sweet 16 this year and Barnes to declare while his stock is high.  This is a weak draft and he still has a great deal of potential I think he could go as high as 3 depending on the team with the pick.  I think he’s in the 3-8 range and although he’ll take a year or two off the bench in the pros’ to catch his stride I think he’ll be a good NBA player.

Harrison Barnes is nothing like Joe Johnson. For one, he’s a small forward.

People have doubted him for not being the instant superstar in college. He’ll eventually become a star in the NBA, maybe even a superstar but that’s hard to predict. Barnes will get there, not instantly but gradually.

I want him in the NBA because I’m impatient and what to see what he can do, but it might be better if he pulls a Jordan/Blake and plays three years in college before coming out and dominating.

Although Barnes isn’t the surefire number one pick everyone thought he would be, he is still a great prospect with a lot of upside.  If he comes out this year I still believe he should be a top 5 pick.  After a slow start he has really played well over the last two months.  I still think he will be a very good pro.

If I were Barnes I would come out this year, the 2012 draft class looks stacked compared to this years.  If he returns to UNC and puts up similar numbers to what he did this year he might see his stock drop a little.

Right now the number one pick is Barnes for the taking.  After his performance against Duke scouts r reavualting their big boards.  If he leads UNC deep, and even :gulp:: they make it to the NCAA championships he’s the number one pick.  I think realistically he can lead them to the Final Four and become the number one pick.

And Joe Johnson is exactly the type of pro I think he will become.  @Knickboys who is a small forward Harrison Barnes?  Or Joe Johnson?  Honestly I can’t tell before Joe Johnson was a small forward for the Suns and the only reason he plays SG for the Hawks is because of Marvin Williams and Josh Smith and the fact Johnson is such a great shooter.

Enter Barnes who is also going to become a great shooter so he will be able to play either wing position at the next level, but would be better suited at Small Forward because of his strength.  Just like Joe Johnson.

Strike the iron while it’s hot I say. He’s a lot more talented than a Willie Warren, Chris Taft, etc, but you don’t wanna risk coming back to become number #1 pick if you’re already probably up there with the top 7 or 8 picks and your stock is already on the rise.

The only major weakness I see in Harrison Barnes is that he’s too mechanical. Tries to play too perfect. When things break down, when he’s heavily pressured or has to make a sudden move he is unable to because his body just doesn’t have that natural fluidity or quick twitch ability. Not sure how to fix that, maybe you can’t, but still his skill set is undeniable. I just think he struggles when he isn’t able to execute what he wants perfectly. He has far more potential but the way his game is so mechanical and he seems to be thinking too much reminds me of Jeff Green at Georgetown. Still though Barnes is a top 5 pick easy.

actually after loving Harrison so much in the summer everyone now are haters but once again most people are wrong..nbadraft.net had him late lotto in 2012 that was like a joke because now he is not only playing good but if he would have played like this from the start i can bet he still would be #1…he is avg 17.9ppg 6.3rpg in last 11gms unc went 10-1 and from unranked team now they are going to be in the top10 if not higher after the win over duke, so how much more do you want from 18yr old freshman..

This site’s original choice of Luol Deng still looks good for me, maybe Barnes will be the complimentary starter, 2nd star on the team type role that Deng and Iggy both play or would play well. Joe Johnson there is some likeness but Joe is a better shooter than Harrison is at this moment.

As his draft stock has risen back into the top 6 then I’d figure that if he continues to play well then he declares this year as next year’s freshman class looks deep and he’d need to step up further just to maintain his draft stock.
