Dgtool2ParticipantHas it dawned on anyone that on 3-11-10 nbadraft.net’s 1st live mock draft had Whiteside going at #3. had him in the lottery not even a week ago and today, 6-23-10, they have him all the way down to #24? This is one of the 1st players Ive seen move around like this. HE is going to be a total bust!!

jerb2011ParticipantI really means that other players are showing how good they are, beyond just stats, and have had better workouts. Personally, I hope he falls to 21 for the Thunder, but doubt that he will because he has way too much potential.

shipargosParticipantMake The kid eat and lift, His frame can hold 270, somebody can teach him the game, in three years you can have a threat down low, and the scay thing is that he has a jumper. Hope he go for the Rockets or Thunder so he can learn.

B-ball fanParticipantHe could eventually be good, but he is too thin to be a starting center soon, and he takes way too many jump shots. I expect it to take him a while to make an impact in the league, but he could eventually be a very good player if given the chance. He has ok post skills and is a great shot blocker, but he needs to gain weight and a better fell for the game.

the I in winParticipantDeandre Jordan moved like that. He was projected to go 9th at one point.

scoutguruParticipantwow 270 is kind of a lot to say for a guy that 227 right now. Dwight howard is listed at 265 which is less than the 270 you mentioned whiteside getting up to. I say 245-250 is probably attainable for him in the next 2 yrs…

sheltwon3ParticipantHoward is actually around 280 now

sheltwon3Participant250 is probably good for whiteside because he has a body where he will be stronger than he looks but probably will not weigh more than 250 or 260 but he is still young so you never know but 270 is a bit much

plasticmanParticipantI could see Whiteside getting to 250 easily in the next couple years. He will gain even more weight after that and possibly reach 270 but not for like 10 years or so lol. Players can gain a lot of weight over their careers, especially big men. Dwight Howard for example, I could see pushing 300 before it’s all said and done. It just depends on how much weight they and their teams training staff want them to gain.
I also think that calling a player a bust, because he is moving around a lot on nbadraft.net is shortsighted. There are many reasons he could be a bust but that isn’t one of them.
The key for Whiteside will be to go to the right team I think. He needs a team that believes in him and his potential, but realizes that he is something of a project and has patience with him. A strong minded coach that will push him to improve and nurture his talent will also be important.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantWhiteside is a player that just screams potential, he is very raw but if he goes to the right team and right system can develop very nicely, also talking about skinny frame, guys can gain weight and fill out (Howard rookie-sophmore year) though I do not see him as the threat Howard is now, I still think Whiteside can be a very serviceable player and solid starter.

GreenLanternParticipantI agree with Whiteside himself as he has said he sees himself primarily in the taller, rangy KG-like 4 spot, with the ability to eventually play some 5. If he fell to my thunder at 21, I would be absolutely over the moon, but I won’t say it officially because I fear jinxing my team! lol

memphisgriz731ParticipantWhiteside could easily hold 270 on his body. LeBron holds that ans yes i know LeBron is a feakin beast but he’s also shorter and not a long as Whiteside

JoeWolf1I’m not big on Whiteside as a basketball player, but as a prospect he could hold about 250 and he is much stronger than he looks, at least in the upper body, he needs to add strength to his lower body so he doesn’t get boxed out by shorter stronger guys, right now he’s an over the back call waiting to happen at an NBA level.

Dgtool2ParticipantThree years later. I was correct about this guy. DNP for 2012-13 season in the NBA.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantNobody disagreed with you though… so patting yourself on the back on something everybody generally agreed on doesn’t really say much.

r377ParticipantI can sympathize with Dgtool –
