NYKnicksuperFanParticipantWord is Orlando star forward Hedo Turkoglu opted out of his contract, it wasnt a hard choice after this playoff run where he proved he’s a star and wants to get paid like one, I think teams that could use him include the Nets, portland, miami, or san antonio
What do you guys think?0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 10:28am #164979

I think you should move this thread to the NBA Forum.

gatorheelsParticipantA lot of teams could use him. The question is in this economy which teams can afford him??? I’m not sure.

j1232eParticipanthis passing skills I think he would be a major force with the spurs. I think hedo is the best passing big man in the league, S antionio needs him, or the are done making playoff runs in the west.

joecheck88ParticipantI think he opts out and doesnt get many offers worth while. His option is worth 7mil. Look for Orlando to resign him for no more than 8.5mil. Detroit probably has the most money to offer but with Prince and strong possibilty of a good sf going to be at 15 in the draft why would they take him? San Antonio had him and let him go. NJ has alot of money invested in Carter, Harris, and Bobby Simmons and two recent top 10 picks(Yi & Lopez), so I dont think they can afford him. And Miami has Beasley who plays a similar position. He most likely stays in Orlando.

maravich44ParticipantI’d love to see Bulls let go of Gordon, take money and give it to Hedo. He could replace Gordon’s scoring, and would make a nice forward tandem with T. Thomas. They could trade Deng and draft Ellington or other big guard/small forward. Moeny without Gordon would be close and they stioo would have money from expiring contracts next year to add a free agent.

Knicksboy34ParticipantWe Need to slow down…how many guys to we see explode during a potential contract year?
I like Hedo but he’s a #2 option and i think 7 mil is enough for a #2 option

j1232eParticipanthow many players on the knicks make more than 7 mill. that are not #2 option. their are at least 2 that are not even in the league any more.

maravich44ParticipantGood point…..both of you. the deal is that he will be overpaid and many a player has had his best year on his contract year. Hedo is a better fit than Gordan. Bulls need a big guard they can pair with Rose. This makes Hinrich a backup and point and shooting guard. That’s a good fit. Turkuglu could score and pass which is what Bulls need. Let’s say they draft Ellington at 16. Now they have Rose, Ellington , Deng,Tyrus Thomas and Noah. Hinrich, Salmons and Brad Miller on bench along with pick #26. Team is deeper, better and since Gordon’s looking for similar money, cap is still comfy.

Knicksboy34ParticipantYea but how many of those guys had that 1 good season to make that money?
Larry Hughes ( 05 with Washington, Led the NBA in Steals)
Quentin Richardson ( 06 with Phoenix, lead the League in 3-pts made)
Eddy Curry (05 with Chicago, Breakout year…16ppg and 5rpg)I mean there is a whole bunch of NBA players in the league getting overpaid. I think no more than 7.5- 8 mil is overpaying for Hedo. He is good but his number decreased this season from last and is 31. And on top of all that, a #2 option

j1232eParticipantI think 7-8 mill. is a far price tag for hedo. But my point is that their is always a team that jumps the gun and throws outrageous money at these players, especially after o ahell of a playoof run.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI hear you about the over paying. I think someone like Toronto or Detroit will give him like 12-14 mil…
I heard thats his asking price…
