Houston might have a all-star this year
All depends on how much coverage is on the Rockets. If he isn't talked about much I think it will be hard for him to get an All-Star position. NY was great for him because every thing he did for them they blew out of proportion.
He WOULD have to get voted in. Would he get more votes than Kobe? - no. More than Nash / Paul / Westbrook / Parker? Possible, but remember Linsanity is over. Would China get out the vote without the crazy buzz of last year? I doubt it.
I do think Lin has the potential to make an all-star team. Just not for a few more seasons.
In Asia, you can not even begin to imagine how huge a cult like figure Lin is here people who couldn't even name what team Kobe plays for have heard of Lin. Chinese think he is Chinese, Taiwanese say he is Taiwane and Koreans claim he has one Korean grandparent.... Honestly, my mother in law knows of Lin, she has no idea who .Tiger Woods, Payton , LBJ or any other sportsman is but she knows this to quote her ' Lin good boy'
Also kids in China will vote 100s of times .... Not 100% sure he will be selected but I project he will get way more votes than a player of his stature otherwise deserves.
Yao was voted in in his rookie year despite having poor numbers, and Lin's numbers on the other hand are respectable (not all-star good, but decent). However, Yao was a huge figure in the Asian population for a few reasons that don't really apply to Lin. Lin is American born, so he's not as much of a huge celebrity in China (Yao was a basketball sensation in China in his young days, his parents were pro ball players, he was SEVEN FOOT SIX, and he was a 1st overall pick, and he was the first real international first overall pick at that.). Jeremy Lin has an interresting back story, but he doesn't have the astronomical hype with Chinese fans that Yao did, and he isn't talented enough to actually make the all-star team. I do think he'll get a ton of votes though, just not enough.
“I think the term we’ve been using is restructuring,” Williams said during the team’s media day. “I don’t think we’re really rebuilding right now. Obviously we still have guys who can play at a high level. Al [Horford] coming back off of his injury and he’s an All-Star guy. In my opinion, I felt like Josh [Smith] should have been an All-Star last year. You still have guys here who are more than capable.”
One solid preseason game does not make you an NBA All-Star, but this one offered a glimpse of what could be an important, impact player for the Pistons in the not-too-distant future.
Howard has refused to say when he might make his Lakers debut, but the six-time All-Star is participating in every practice with no apparent limitations. Howard worked out on the Ontario court with Lakers assistant coaches Chuck Person and Darvin Ham about 30 minutes before the game, delighting hundreds of early arriving, camera-wielding fans who didn't get to see Bryant in action.
“It’s huge,” Teague said of the NBA’s impact in China. “They love basketball over there. I didn’t think they were going to know me. I got off the plane and people were screaming my name. I didn’t think they would have a clue who I was.”
“They love basketball,” Teague continued. “They asked me about Tracy McGrady. They love Tracy McGrady over there. It was a lot of fun.”ol78oi78778
Now Green is expected to stick small forwards like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony on defense and pick and choose his spots on offense. That’s a change from earlier in his career, when Green was able to shoot practically at will with the Thunder (after hitting 38.9 percent of his 3-pointers in 2008-09, he decided to take an additional 65 attempts the following season, but ended up making just 33.3 percent).

I got a good feeling Jeremy Lin might make the all-star team this year, (1.It's in Houston this year, (2.Asian population is big there. (3.Fans do vote and we kno how us fans vote lol.
