How The Hell

By squirmydude at 2009-06-11
1-4 and 8 are spot on.
What's up dude? You upset?
How you got so many points today is a mystery. It is so easy to cheat. If we fixed the system up then we would all know you were legit.
If you aren't upset it's nice to meet you too. lol
Auber, I really don't think points matter that much to the people who matter. I mean, people who regularly visit this site such as myself know you to be very knowledgeable and possess analytical skills. I don't give a flying flipper if your points are lower than someone else. The same goes for Sheltwon and Qhaynes, who don't have that many points either.
I was close to leading at one point. In a ten minutes I went from having 35 points to -69. After that, I left it alone. They should really change the point system if they are going to implement it.
DHamp....the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway
Im new to the site but have been rewarded by finding other people that love this sport as much as I do...How much of a burden would it be to follow some of the things people say to see the proof in the pudding. I feel this is a liberty but the more people get on to voice there opinions the better it is for the site. I know some of you long term members are pretty pissed off cause its your own niche club. But lets not make this your in your out type of deal, the more people the more money for the person that made this site, who deserves it. If a comment is stupid pass it and dont worry about it, we all have mouses and keyboards. I appreciate everyones love for the game even some of these fantasy looking trades that we know the knicks scouts are probably looking at for the answer with the contract moves that they make it.. Have a good one.
Agree with every point you made. As perfect of an explanation as their is for it.
haha, I just realized what the thumbs up and downs are at the bottom of your posts. wow. I feel stupid. I kept on seeing you guys talking about points and had no idea what you were talking about and figured that only certain members got it or something. wow... HA, stupid system though. It's funny that the 4 at the bottom are Qhaynes, Dwight12, Dhamp, and Btown. They have a combined -350 points. Hahahaha
Another thing is that on some sites when you click on a user you can see their past posts. It would be nice to click on the users who seem to have positive feed back/negative feedback and see their post history.
I'm new to this and am enjoying the postings and learning from other hoop enthusiasts. This is a great venue to chat and share info and ideas. I don't understand the point concept. Is there a prize or something for most points? LOL Seriously, what constitutes a point. 95% of all posts are good points. Yes, there are a few hairbrained concoctions here and there, but that's what opinions are all about.
If It's about John Bryant it might be worth a read.
I just got the idea from a friend of mine that had to take a woman's gender course at St John Fisher in Rochester. He was the only guy in his class and as a final paper he had to write 13 pages on Transgenders and their struggle in American society.
Those are the three I agree with. The points system needs to be eliminated completly, although it does seem to stir up conversation.
I would like to see fan written articles, but only if they are well written and worthy of reading, not just every fanboy telling us all why he knows more then we. My guess is 95% of what Aran reviews would not be posted.
The mocks and bogus trade threads need to stop. You were dead on with those two so I don't really need to add anything. I still remember that TMac for LeBron trade. That guy should have been red flagged right there so I knew not to take his opinion seriously any more.
Isn't there a way to target someone's IP address? Would blocking an IP fix the problem? One note: I absolutely love discussing and debating the NBA with guys like auber, knicksfreak, and so on. I can tell even when they disagree with me that they are knowledgeable about and love the game. I hope they can tell when I post hypothetical scenarios, it's based on actual reports, not rumors or my fan-based desires unlike some who just make stuff up without any real basis. Much respect.
Yeah, the site could IP ban people, but unless someone is an amazing hacker on here, I don't think any of the users could do that.
Thanks llperez22. I hope people don't start leaving the site because of the nonsense. Why doesn't everybody just ignore the main culprits? That's what I do. I don't respond to them or view their threads in the hope that they will go away or conform to the spirit of the forum.
auber in the last 10 minutes it looks like you lost about 60 points. What happened?
You know, Dwight12 and btownboy really weren't that bad. btownboy just got a reputation because he had a man-crush on his giant teddy bear.
From what I've seen in about a week on this site is a handful of people care about points and the rest of us simply want to discuss a sport we are passionate about. I've read probably 50 posts by Auber, and I agree with 99% of what he says. For a man of 20 his acumen is amazing. How he has 50 some odd points and others who have added very little mental stimulation to the site have 1200 is absurd. Who cares though. Till they come up with something different, let's forget about the points and focus on discussing what matters to us.......basketball. Leave the point counters to those who care about it. In the end, they will have 20,000 points, but what will it get them?

Did Deeds pass gatorheels today?
I'm just sick of the way it is really. I think some people are honestly going out their and giving themselves points just to say that "Oh I'm on top of nbadraft.nets forums." Really who gives a &$#%#&@!. As long as your contributing something positive towards a post and the site itself you should be rewarded and not negated for it.
So my idea behind this thread is this essentially...... How can nbadraft.net be a better place/experience? A few things came to mind for me at least.
1. Forum Signatures:
This is one of the few forums that I'm on that doesn't allow self expression through the basis of a signature. Is it really that much to ask for to throw something small underneath my posts to let people know who I really am. Maybe setting the signature limits at 468x120. Is something like this too much to ask for below each one of my posts?
2. Fan Written Articles:
Why Not? I think it'd be nice to get a meaningful perspective on the front page of the site. Theirs some guys on the site that are really knowledgeable when it comes to basketball and sports in general. I think Aran should let us take advantage of this. Of course every article would have to be approved by him so theirs not a 58 paragraph article on Transgenders in America.
3. Moderation:
Aran were sick and tired of dealing with guys like btownkid and dwight12 on our own. It's just not needed on the forum and for the site. If people want to drop some basketball knowledge I'm all for it on here, but being a jackass about it and saying your "the Kobe Bryant of typing," and going off on some stupid &$#%#&@! is just pathetic. I know were here to have some fun in the process because it's a message board, but I know a lot of guys want to take things seriously with myself included. Let's keep it that way, nobody's getting paid to babysit children on here.
4. The Point System:
If it's going to stay it needs to be fixed. Theirs way to much fluctuating in point changes it's not even funny. I went from 150 yesterday to 65 to 120 to 85 then to 100 again in a matter of two days. I know I drop some good knowledge on here and I'm wrong more than I'm write, but it's just gotten way out of hand. Adding and subtracting points should be a privilege not a right. Say bozo the clown sets up 3 bogus accounts and just knocks everything that comes from gatorheels mouth so his buddy Deeds can climb to the top. Now that's not cool man it really isn't. Giving yourself points is also pathetic in it's own right. I'm sure people do it on here just to get to the top. Hell UnlimitedRange has 82 points and I've yet to see the dude make a post yet. If were going to have a point system lets take it seriously.
5. The Forum Topics:
Just a minor problem, but say I post a new topic in the NBA Forum, how come it doesn't show up in the news feed. Anything that does has to be posted in the NBA Draft forum and that's kinda weak. I understand the drafts hot right now, but if you want to separate things have the feed open up to all the forums instead of just the NBA Draft Forum. It will save a lot of people time and trouble and will separate a lot of things on here.
6. The Bogus Trades:
I'm so sick and tired of seeing these ESPN Frankenstein trades from the trade machine. Why would the Cavs trade Lebron for cap relief and Tracy Mcgrady? Last time I checked Mcgrady can barley walk and the Cavs have a home grown superstar. Their going to do everything in their power to keep this kid in Cleveland and if he walks he walks.
7. Your Mock:
Every time I log on do I have to see 5 of the active topics be about "My Mock, Hey Check Out My Mock, Mock Draft 8.459374, and etc." If you want to check out somebody's mock click on their user name and bring it up during a discussion post. We don't need 6,000 mocks flying around here.
8. Player Comparisons:
One thing I prefer Draft Express over NBA Draft is that they use the Worse case and Best case scenarios on their players. I think It's a really interesting way to look at things that should be incorporated here.
Aran I love this site and have been on it intensely since 2001 using it for my fantasy leagues and helping me cash because you are on point 8/10 times. Your Mocks year in and out Blow Draft Express out of the water and I think a good 90% of you will agree with me. Theirs a lot of other ways the site can improve upon it self but I think these are some key points. Let me know what the rest of you guys think or if you have anything else to add.
