Is it just me or does the NBA have a huge problem? REFEREEs... I'm sure everyone watched how Rondo slapped (or punched) the hell out of Brad Miller. Everyone but Celtic's fans (of course) feel that this NON-Call is a blatant slap in the face. Why? Not only did we watch the Referees not call the CORRECT call, but the league backed the NON-Call up by not giving Rondo anything. The reason is Rondo didn't wind up? And he was going for the ball? WHAT!!!! Rondo was looking at Miller's head and slapped Miller's mouth. He wasn't going for the ball, but if he was it still don't matter because he hit his mouth.
It's disrespectful how the league I've grown to love has managed to call me an idiot without saying a word to me. Its not just this call that's the problem is the consistent one sided calls... It's hand-checking, the travelling, and the star player factor... It's the willingness not to do anything to correct this... Why watch the playoffs? Because we all know who is going to reach the Finals... They already have the commercials out. "24 or 23"... I'm not saying Kobe's or LeBron's teams aren't good enough to reach the finals without help but what I am saying is that the "Anything can happen" is out the window. As fans we should be talking about how good the games are, not about the refs...
We continue to get bamboozled by the NBA. And as a fan I had enough...............
What you think?
I couldnt agree more....
Couldn't disagree more. I thought not suspending Rondo was the right move and suspending Howard was the right move. Rondo missed millers arm by a couple inches. It was a smart hard foul by Rondo. Howards was completly different. The ball had gone through the net and he elbowed the guy right in the fcae. The league had to suspend him.
It's a shame. They have to blow the whistles within 2 seconds of a foul happening so there's going to be mistakes, its human, Unless they reveiwed everything but that would just be too much. I think ultimatly they got it right because Howard rightfully Gone and I think Rondo's should'v been a flagrent but it's not worthy of a suspension.
D. Wade fouled Mo Evans last night and hit his arm... Going for the block on a dunk... YOU know it was called a flagrent foul 1? It doesn't matter that he was going for the ball... But you just said he was inches away from his arm, he was a foot in a half away from the ball... Stu Jackson said today on Mike and Mike that "whenever players foul above the shoulders that's under the lines of flagrent"... (and then said Rondo's foul was a basketball play?)
I'm not saying Rondo's intentions were to harm Brad Miller. But I am saying that's what he did, harmed him. It should've been a flagrent foul 1, not worthy of a suspension. But since the officials didn't call it that, the NBA should've did something... Is a suspension over doing it? YES... But that foul alone decided the game and some repercussions should come from it. Suspend him!! At the very least fine him... Or call it a flagrent 1 and give him the points, so if he do it again he's gone. But don't step back and not do anything and say it was a basketball play because it wasn't... Prison basketball or street basketball maybe, but I'm sure if you do that in either one you'll get knocked the Puck out....
The foul alone did not decide the game. Brad Miller could have made the free throws, they could have double teamed Pierce at some point. I would be ok with a fine but not a suspension. But the play didnt decide the game.
I love Rondo as a player, but he should be suspended for a game. He purposly hit Brad Miller in the mouth to miss his shot. Should have been a flagrant foul Also. How Does Dwayne Wade get a Flagarant Foul for making a play on the ball but Rondo actually hits Brad Miller in the face not making a play on the ball and doesnt get a flagarant. This is crazy.
I just watched Rondo grab Kirk Hinrich's arm and whip him into the scorers table....that should have been a flagarant 2 and should have been thrown out!!!!!!!!!
If hinrich did the same thing to rondo, we woulda been tossed
As for the D-Wade foul, he was going for the ball. They showed the replay and saw his eyes focused only on the ball and obviously wasn't trying to foul him! They even said he has a tendency of blocking shots on fast breaks. As for the flagrant above the arm, there just mad because players can actually JUMP in this day and age. This is coming from a 14 year old boy. -----
Sports has a serious problem with officials deciding games, as a true fan, it gets beyond OLD. Thats why sports can't be taken to serious. Why, you ask. Simple, the leagues themselves don't take officiating seriously, so as fans, why should we take these leagues seriously. All sports have this problem. The outcome of the Bulls game was effected by that foul, who knows what was going through Millers head (or rest of Bulls team) at that time.
Here's another problem, wheres the walking calls and established pivot foot calls (travel). Pierce establishes a pivot nearly everytime he ISO's and jumps off of the non pivot, WTF are these officials watching.
A lot of these calls do make you wonder but it is almost certain now that referees must be getting told to call some games certain ways
Rondo should have been suspended for BOTH fouls. In my mind he has lost so much respect over the past 2 games for acting like a thug. Foul on Miller, hard foul by itself maybe flagrant, maybe not. Throwing Kirk Hinrich into the scorers table for really no apparent reason, common man...give me a freaking break. If he does something like this in game 7 the NBA HAS to do something to punish him, win or lose.
