TheLastWordParticipantSo far Irving is having a better year than Wall both this year and last. His play is also resulting in wins where as Wall can’t seem to make much of an impact as a PG. We all know Wall is the physical specimen though. So who are you taking in a fantasy draft?

F_DA_POParticipantI take McGee, Gasol or Ibaka instead of Wall and wait for Irving.
Irvings game is already light years ahead of Wall.

Stevenhonestly: irving. always liked his game better. and when i say always i mean the past 5 games…

OhCanada-ParticipantDont be silly now… Both of you get in TLIs basement.

akhan786ParticipantI’d take Wall in a fantasy draft but Irving in real life. Irving is a pure point guard and understands all of the nuances of the position. He might not have the speed or explosiveness of Wall, but he makes up for it with his basketball IQ and shooting.
Irving just had 20 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Here’s the best part…he did it in just 20 MINUTES on 80% shooting. This kid is special and is better than I thought he was. Did anyone else see that chase down block Irving had?
Anyone who leads this horrible Cavs team to a winning record (3-2) is an absolute stud and to think less than 20 games ago he was in highschool.
I think both are special but 5 years from now I think Kyrie will be the better point guard.

F_DA_POParticipantObviously none of you play fantasy or are Wizards fan. Wall goes in the top 40, while Irving goes around 70-80. I wait for Irving in the 70s,80s than take Wall in the 30s, 40s.
I’d like to see any of you draft John Wall in the top 40 and finish first in your league. It won’t happen…. The man is a turnover machine. He is a great talent who could be a great player, but he is a horrible fantasy player considering how hyped he is. Anyone who plays fantasy has seen this.

For_Never_EverParticipantIvring he knows how to pace the tempo and score without having to layup or dunking every time. I’ve never been high on Wall stated all my reasons before and I got over 40 negtives when wall was being hyped like crazy during the league games. Now what !!!!!

Michael.S.ParticipantAre we kidding now? Irving has played 5 games, Irving won’t lead this team to win more than 15-20 games this year. Irvinghas years to go before he can even compete for the playoffs, as well as Wall. Lets not be ignorant, Wall had a great rookie year, and this season is not even 10 percent done.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWall hasn’t had a great start to the season and Irving has looked good, but Wall’s ceiling is so much higher…

For_Never_EverParticipantWizard have more talent than the Cavs. But I think the Wizards will have the worst record When its done.

OhCanada-ParticipantWOuld you guys honestly all rather pick Irving then Wall. Wall has gone through alot as a prospect and has persevered dont think because of this years slow start he can be disacknowledged. From being drafted into the end of the drama between Arenas and Washington, to a lingering bone bruise in his knee that was originally diagnosed as tendonitis, to having to play with Nick Young, Andray Blatche, Javale McGee, Jordan Crawford, Mister Moneybags himself Rashard Lewis and other notable Wizards…Mason Jr., Shelvin Mack. If you put Wall on OKC right now and Westbrook on WAS I am pretty sure we would see a completely different John Wall, a much more organized, driven, confident, and competitive player which would allow him to appropriatley use his skills correctly.
Many people on this site have been hating on certain players for too long, its gotta stop. Stop hating on John we are 2 weeks into the season. Chill out no Coaches have even been fired yet its still preseason. Usually they play 8 preseason games, after the 8th game at the very least then start judging performances but for now lets just watch some basketball.

akhan786ParticipantWall is most definitely better RIGHT NOW. Hell there are probably 20 point guards in the league better than Irving at the moment. Maybe I misunderstood the question, but if I was to pick from the two to be my franchise player and to build around I’d pick Irving.
I know, I know, I know he’s only played 5 games but the talent is undeniable. Another thing that stuck out to me was that the kid has so much poise for being a 19 year old in the NBA. Even though he’s 19 the rest of the Cavs team listens to him and you can tell he’s great for locker room chemistry.
I won’t back down from my previous statement. IN FIVE YEARS I believe Irving will be the better point guard and I think BOTH will be recognized as part of the top 5-10 floor generals in the league.
Irving is getting better and better each game and I know he’s going to be fun to watch for years to come.

OhCanada-ParticipantAlso Irving isnt playing with a group of…lets say questionable characters. Cleveland has a very good Head Coach Byron Scott who runs a very strict system. They have been bringing in players with good characters and that are professionals on and off the court. Anthony Parker is a great example. Tristan Thompson was basically drafted on character, work-ethic, positivity and potential. Things will be much easier for him to adapt to the NBA and play mistake free basketball…for him to play up to his potential. I just dont think his potential is even close to Walls.

For_Never_EverParticipantWhy are the Wizards players character being questioned is it only because the team is losing ?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 8:26pm #621217
EntropyParticipantWall is more talented and has ridiculous potential, so i would choose him. Honestly i’m surprised some peopele are actually picking irving here.

NCarmean18ParticipantYou have to think it would be John Wall. His stats may not be as impressive right now, but give him time. Wall is similar to Derrick Rose in the way he plays the game, and if he can improve like Rose did through his first 3 seasons then John Wall will be a repeated all-star throughout his career. It also doesn’t help out that he plays for the Wizards and can only get scoring help from Nick Young so he has to take some contested shots to help his team stay in the game.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 9:18pm #621236
PulseGlazerParticipantWizard’s guys characters are being questioned because they have guys with really questionable basketball IQs like McGhee (who gets lost on D), Blatche (who appears selfish), Crawford and Young (guiltless shooters), and Lewis (the veteran presence who is the most overpaid player in sports). And Flip is a terrible coach. He was in Detroit. He was in Minny.

HandDownManDown13ParticipantI have Irving and Wall In my league. Trust me, I’m playing wall on days he’s playing. Look it’s only a few games into the season, Wall has physical talents that Irving doesn’t and this is coming from a Duke fan. Irving’s highest upside is compared to CP3 and Wall’s is Rose. Who goes first in a fantasy draft when they’re on a bad team (with Wall starting and Irving coming of the Bench at 26ish MPG nonetheless) gotta take wall. The Wiz blow, and it’s not Wall’s fault
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 10:34pm #621239
For_Never_EverParticipantI don’t see the comparison with Wall to Rose. One example Rose came in the league with tight top notch handle, Wall handle is slightly sloppy.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 11:03pm #621241
FastAndFuriousParticipantIrving’s handle and IQ is what makes him special, as I said in a diff post, once he learns substance over style he’s gonna be a problem, no he’s not the athlete Wall is, but, he has the IQ part down to make up 4 it.
