what austin’s ceiling, do you like him as a prospect?… his versatility shows signs of big upside

i think nerlens is 6’10 at most, not 6’11.5 like listed in the  LeBron James Skills Academy.

I Love Austins game, he has to get bigger.. but i heard he has a crazzy handle… so maybe his ceiling can be Aldridge if he develops a jumper

    low- Chris Johnson

    High- Aldridge/Mullens

Measured as being 6’10 without shoes, which makes him a legit 6’11 (I usually add 1.25 inches to a players height without shoes). He also was measured with a 7’4 wing span at the Hoop Summit as well. Aran has the measurements in the article section. Nerlens height and length is of no concern as far as being a center prospect, it is legit. The biggest issue is his lack of girth and strength, as well as having next to no back-to-the-basket offensive game. His positioning on the floor as a rebounder will be something to watch as well, but I do not believe he is like Davis in this regard.

Isaiah Austin seems to have legit size and length for a center prospect too, plus have heard good things about his being a decent rebounder and shot blocker. The problem is, I do not think he is the athlete that Nerlens Noel is and his penchant for playing on the perimeter is worrisome. He also seems to flat out get pushed around, much more so than Nerlens seems too. When Isaiah Austin has lined up against strength, he has gotten burnt at times. His going to a school that saw Perry Jones getting rocked at times in the post is not incredibly encouraging.

Isaiah Austin seems to have some upside as a versatile 4/5, I remember Dave Telep saying his mentality reminds him of a young Tyson Chandler. He might be even more versatile as an offensive player, but it will be a wonder to see if he can do the dirty work that has made Chandler so valuable. Right now, that has yet to be determined. He certainly was not the run/jump athlete that Tyson was or had his post game, which was still raw. I think his upside is as a decent stretch center, which I do not think is ideal. Certainly am not salivating over his potential and I have to say I am not blown away by how Scott Drew has prepared his players for the next level.

if he gains weight he has the potential to be the number one pick just because i know how Gm’s are… he can do it all tho, i will not make the Durant comparison tho

his main problem would be in the post so i like him as a face up/ hybrid 4. he has all the raw skills to be a lotto next year and put around pj3 #s on baylor… he needs to gain weigh, he uses his length to take advantage, but he’s not very athletic. lol. he’s gonna be next to quincy miller which operates alike. they need to gain muscle.

    another lanky forward for baylor!!

Looks like Baylor is built like a poor man’s Kentucky. Looks like another second weekend team but can they get to the Final Four. Coaching is what will get them past the Elite 8.

About Noel, the news on him sounds good. I have seen a few clips and he looks pretty good. Looks raw but that is the way Anthony Davis did, and still does somewhat. Noel looks more like a center while Davis looks more
like a rangy, lanky Rasheed Wallace type even though both Davis and Noel are known as shot blockers and rebounders.

Austin Reminds me of Rasheed minus the terrific post game(which may develop better once he’s with a pro team who will have him focus on this with a bigman coach) and the headaches.

The kid isn’t a superstar but a more perimeter oriented Anthony Davis is actually a fair comparison with his nice handle, jumper, and shotblocking bilities. His rebounding and motor aren’t on Davis’ level though.

Wasn’t Isiah Austin the one Drummond destroyed in a game a year ago?

From what I heard he was outplayed by Drummond dominated even. There was also a time when Kwame Brown destroyed Tyson Chandler in workouts and when Sharone Wright outplayed Tim Duncan in college or Big Country Bryant Reese outplayed Marcus Camby and to some extent Tim Duncan in college..so the better long term prospect doesn’t always have the best game in an individual  matchup.

Wasn’t Isiah Austin the one who was looking straight ahead and around the corner at the same time?
