Wavy BagelsParticipantWith the 2012-2013 NBA season around the corner, what are a few things you guys are anticipating to see? Expectations? One thing I’m anticipating is how Javale Mcgee plays after training w/ Hakeem Olajuwan during the offseason and see what he learned. One thing I’m expecting is the Dallas Mavericks BARELY making the playoffs with a record below 500. They didn’t have the worst offseason (aquiring Elton Brand, Darren Collison, OJ Mayo and Chris Kaman [already injured]), but it wasn’t what they expected either (Losing out on D-Will, Dwight, losing Jason Terry).

MUbballfanParticipantI am anticipating watching the rookies evolve and am expecting the Pacers to be in the ECF but lose to the Heat.

flybobbyflyParticipantSo mavs are going to be below 500 and still make the playoffs? that doesnt seem to happen in the western conference.

Wavy BagelsParticipantWhile this may be the case, my incarcerated friend (JOKING), this is a prediction of mine. Bold? Yes, considering the Western Conference is a highly competitive one as you stated. The Mavs do not look like a 500 or above team to me and I’m sure if they are ever in that predicament during the upcoming season, I have no doubts they could figure out how to get out of that hole, but it shouldn’t be easy considering Dirk Nowitzki is up there in age. That’s just me, though.

aamir543ParticipantThat’s the problem I have with bold predictions, I know you think they’ll finsih below .500 and at the same time want them to make the playoffs, but with that you’re also implying that several other things which are really far fetched. I know it’s a bold prediction but I don’t think this is a valid one.

FUNKYBUNCHParticipantANTICIPATING- to see how all the big summer moves turn out. (for better or worse) LAL, DEN, BKN, PHI, NYK, ORL, DAL, ATL. Seems like twas a busy summer… Also anticipating who will play MIA in the finals next year. I’m anticipating the deep rookie class this year making an impact. I like the bold prediction of the Mavericks making the playoffs under .500, although I don’t agree with it. I think Mavericks don’t make the playoffs. They will be in the mix however, battling to make that final spot. I say GS, MIN, UTA, and DAL are all pretty close and will battle for the 7th and 8th spot and at least 2 of those teams are bound to get above .500. SAC will be competitive too, but not playoff material. Meanwhile… my prediction is that 6 teams from the West will get 50+ wins. OKC, LAL, SAN, LAC, DEN, and MEM in no particular order all get 50 or more wins. I expect NYK, BKN, IND, BOS, PHI and possibly CHI (depending if or what moves they do or don’t make) to be good but still a drop off from MIA and for TOR to squeeze into the playoffs this year. I believe a Western Conference team wins the title this year. This is just my opinions…

JordoParticipantRay Allen for 6th man of the year. Brookyln Nets end up being better than the Knicks. Where will Josh Smith end up at the trade deadline? Will Portland be this years sleeper in the West? Can the warriors sneak into the playoffs with a healthy Stephen Curry and Andrew Bogut? Will Tyreke Evans find his role after battling injuries and losing his position? Are the Orlando Magic going to be bad enough to land of top pick or pick mid lottery? MKG will cry multiple times this season during Bobcats losing streaks. Lakers vs Heat will be the most hyped up match ups this season. The Bulls will grind to stay in the playoff hunt and will surprise people that are writing them off without Rose. Nene makes the All-Star team.

BenchWarmerParticipantKobe averages less than 20 shots a game, and bobcats win 14+ games. But In more serious matter holiday Makes the all-star team with d rose out.. Possibly. All rookie second team- Houston rockets? My player on 2k13 wins rookie of the year and defensive player… I possibly even get laid Haha I can’t wait for real season.

druneave3ParticipantExcited to see LeBron be the greatest player on the planet. How the Lakers will mesh. Can KD and company out gun the other great teams or is Miami destined to win again? Excited to see Anthony Davis and other all the rookies, especially Terrence Ross, Will Barton, and Darius Johnson-Odom. Will Paul George and Indiana grow? Bynum in Philly. Boston’s new pieces should be more than solid. Denver should be exciting with that athleticism and depth. Then looking for how a several younger players develop such as Derrick Favors, Jrue Holiday, Marshon Brooks, Klay Thompson, Batum, DeMarcus Cousins, and Rubio, and Jimmy Butler! Can Kyrie Irving become the next dominate PG? Also wondering what teams like Toronto, New York, Washington, and Dallas will be like?
Should be an awesome season. I am dissapointed that Derrick Rose will not be involved.
