CavFanPRParticipantWhenever you get compared to Carmelo Anthony without playing a single college game, you’re getting overrated big time. I know this might sound a bit contradicting, but I’ve always thought Carmelo himself is massively overrated.
Whenever I see this guy play, all I see is a cocky individual with mediocre skills. Hyped by the media

GrandmamaParticipantYou do understand how comparisons work right? They aren’t a barometer of the talent level, of course Carmelo Anthony is a better player right now. Comparisons are on style of play, size, athleticism, and skill set. Jabari is a terrific mid range player who can score in multiple ways on the court, off the dribble, pull up jumper, spot up shooter, like Carmelo. Jabari is probably 6’8″ with an above average wingspan, like Carmelo. Athletically he isn’t great, but definitely above average, again like Carmelo. Carmelo is the perfect comparison.
Comical that you just called this dude cocky, you obviously don’t understand the definition of the word OR you know nothing about Jabari.

akhan786ParticipantKid is just very humble. Self-aware and absolutely driven to become better are the two things that popped into my head when I heard him say that.
I do remember him specifically being rather uncomfortable with the Sports Illustrated cover of him that came out, so I imagine when describing himself as overrated he was talking about that.
I mistook his meaning at first as well, but now I understand his thinking that he is “overrated” is just in a relative sense to the SI cover.
We’ll see if he lives up to the hype. He’s such a great kid, that I really hope he does.

Lotto StudParticipant4 State titles! Overrated? None of that indicates he is overrated.

Warned2820ParticipantSimeon would probably have won four state titles even without Parker. The talent they have is ridiculous.
I do think he is overrated. The Melo comparisons are way off base to me, I don’t see him being more than a 15-18 ppg game as a pro.

hoopscopParticipantThe SI cover was bogus and in some way exploitation, but right now he is underrated big time. Look, he was banged up or injured for most of the last two seasons, so all the talk he is not athletic is crap. He will not be a freak like Lebron, Vince or Wiggins but he will be above-average athletically as a big swingman on the highest level. But his current skill level, his IQ, his desire to get better, he is a cant miss prospect and thats something I couldnt say about randle, Gordon, Harrison et al. Wiggins, yes hard to imagine he wont be an franchise type guy, but JP will be great.

phila9012ParticipantI think he is going to be a more humble version of lebron (who is pretty humble considering he was considered the Next Michael Jordan since he was a sophomore in high school and has been the best player in the NBA) who teammates love to play with and is really good. I think he he will be great in the NBA because he is humble yet a very hard worker and it seems like it is hard to hate him.

akhan786ParticipantIf you watch the entire video, he has some interesting comments about college. And I know I’m probably stretching his statements a bit, but that combined with other things he’s said about college/academics I feel like if he’s not guaranteed a Top 5 pick (you never know) then he may decide to come back another year.
If he’s hypothetically still projected in the lottery, I think he should still go, but Jabari seems to be hardwired differently than most recruits.

HaleParticipantI’ve thought for awhile now that he could come back for his sophomore year. He seems like someone who would do it as opposed to Randle, Harrison, Wiggins, etc.

RafterParticipantOld head on young shoulders. He’s playing a very smart game by appearing laid-back or passive but make no mistake, he’ll do whatever it takes to win.

HitsterParticipantWith the Melo comparision, you have to consider Melo during his Syracuse title year or even going into that year and think of how Parker compares to that, not the Scoring Champion Melo. Parker has a lot to live up to and luckily for him there is Wiggins in the same year rather like Oden and KD in 2006/07 plus other talented guys in next years draft means it’s not one guy and the rest.
