Has anybody been wondering whatever happened to the 11 year old that has been on numerous news channels and shows and was said to be the next big thing?

Apparently the boy (now a 7th grader) is still just 5 feet tall, here’s some footage of him playing this may:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1ygcwcGC9g

The guy is tiny, I know he can (and probably will) hit a growth spurt soon, but I don’t believe he will ever be over 6 feet.

Just though some of you might find this interesting.

I’m 5’11, 6 Foot in certain shoes, and I didnt hit 5 feet till 8th grade, and I never had a giant growth spurt. I was about 4’10 when 8th grade started, 5’1 or 5’2 when it started, about 5’4 by the time high school started, 5′ 8 by sophomore year or so, and then peaked out at 5’11. I feel like I had a pretty average growth pattern.

I saw that video. He was 11, already an incredible ball handler, and they said he was setting track records. The NBA is too soon to tell, but he will play college ball barring a tragedy. Its corny, but I think the most underrated thing in the world is work ethic. I’ve seen a million guys with great size or athleticism not pan out, but the guys who truly work the hardest almost always make it. If he even gets to about 5’10 or so, with good speed, he should be fine at the high major level.

Dude can ball….but he is just sooooooooo small….Hoop Scoop, the popular middle school ranking website has him as the 13th best player in the class of 2016…https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZZykYk9RrwHd0iXbFNi7iI4iEG8bnnaQwYGeseW2M1E/edit?hl=en_US&pli=1#…look at all the heights of the players in the top 15, then look at the 5’2” height Jaushaun is listed at…big time difference.

On a side note…KHALEA TURNER the #2 player in the class of 2016 is a freaking MONSTER with skills. 6’9” 225 lbs and going into the 8th grade…LOL…I have been watching allot of games from his LA select AAU 13U team that just won the AAU national championship http://www.bballspotlight.com/2011/07/special-exclusive-to-basketball.html  Believe me when I say this is a name that will definitely be heard about on this site again.  The videos I have been watching of him arnt highlight videos and are too long, so I won’t post them.  This quick highlight video does not do his game justice because it is a year old, but it gives you a little understanding of the potential of this 13 year old. He doesnt dunk in it, but I have seen him throw down numerous jams during his dominating performance at the AAU nationals.

I was wondering what was the situation with him, he looks like those players that you made in NBA games that were the smallest height but had 99 overall. IF he makes the NBA (talking a long way down the line here) he’d be a league fan favourite

I agree he needs to get taller. But judging from this video, he is soo ahead of the other people it’s not even funny.

    Thanks for the update OP.

WTF did you see that 8th grader hit a windmill in transition….

Regarding Jashaun…he already has an advanced game for his age…If you noticed it seems like he has already mastered change of pace and angles on his passes…with his work ethic and attention to defense I hope this kid gets somewhere

I saw somwhere that said he’s going through delayed puberty. His dad was around his height once he begun HS, but is now over 6 feet. I think he can still grow to over 6 foot.

At that age puberty is EVERYTHING. Who remembers 7th-9th grade leagues? The Best player always had a giant bush of armpit hair and was bigger faster stronger than everybody else. Jashuan clearly hasnt hit it yet, and scouts can tell too. He can play with the biggest and best right now, older than him, and he hasnt even hit his growth spurt or gotten his speed and strength boost.

Just watching this video makes me respect Mugsy Bogues even more. Think about it, this kid looks to be half the size of some of the players hes up against and they are 7th graders.  Mugsy was only an inch taller and playing against NBA players. Thats amazing.

at his age its partly about growth/puberty but its also about staying focused for the next 5-10 years to keep getting better and then for 15 or more years after that. Thats what it takes to make the nba. we all know of players who looked to be "the next…." and "high school phenom" in early high school or middle school, and they just never made it because they didn’t end up improving much between high school and the nba and they were eventually no better than the other players of their class when the draft eventually rolled around

All his height means is that he is closer to an average size eighth grader and has more growing to do than the rest of the guys on the list. A lot of the top ranked players at that age show very little progression throughout high school, then a lot of others explode out of nowhere when they catch up later on. The fact that he’s still ranked at 5’2 shows how skilled he is.

I was 5’2 in 8th grade and ended up 6’1 and both my parents are short. I’ve heard his dad is 6’3, so he’s got some hope. It could work in his favor that he learns how to be crafty at that height before catching up physically with the rest of the guys
