Ahkasi ClayParticipantNo matter what team you claim, your here on this site.
most fans (if their team is winning) might stop on one of the more “Pop” sites like a Yahoo sports, Espn, Sporting News, Ect…
But there are some fans that enjoy looking at mock drafts months before
Fans that are into their teams enough to want to argue salary cap implications of possible trades.
arguing the merits of being a legitimate 7 footer if you measure 6’10 1/2″ with out shoes.
those of us that have already got a good idea about many of the players in next years draft.
I personally have The draft set as one of my personal holidays at work, because i want to geek out on the draft all day long.there are fans here of all different teams,
I’m just saying it nice to see so many of them are Jazz fans!0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/05/2010 - 1:15pm #327387
richgatesParticipantI’m here because I wanted to get more insight about who the Jazz might pick. I’m excited about the draft for the first time since the Stockton and Malone draft years. I’ve been obsessing about it really and I was hoping to find some interesting discussions about the players, which I have.

JNixonParticipantFrom now on, this is the official Jazz topic thread. If you want to say anything about:
Who the Jazz draft, why Deron Williams is the best PG in the NBA, or why Wesley Matthews is the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ; this is the place.
I swear there are a 100 different Jazz topics everyday.

Captain LParticipantIt is fun to research the players that could be available when the Jazz will pick. It is fun to read others opinions on the different players and it is fun to post your own opinions .
Who do you like and why?0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/05/2010 - 1:42pm #327394
jah12345ParticipantI wanna go ahead and point out that SakitSaPuwit said that he likes his own jazz, now that its out of his system

richgatesParticipantCaptain L:
I am still hoping that the Jazz find a way to trade up and get a player in the top 3 or 4. I think where the Jazz are picking there is more risk. Deron Williams wants to move to the next level and I don’t think we can do that without improving our interior offense and defense.
I wish we could trade up and get Favors or make a trade for a comparable PF to Boozer since it isn’t likely he will return. I will be disappointed if we take a guard or small forward unless it is someone like Johnson or Turner and I don’t think the Jazz are going to get a deal done to trade up. I hope I’m wrong.
I guess if I had to pick one player that I like that could potentially still be available when we pick it would be Udoh.

wesleymatthews23Participantlol Mr. 6000. Wesley Matthews is good but he is not the second coming of Christ. How did religion sneak into this topic? I have actually been on this site for quite awhile. I have changed my username twice and I never use my old one and If I did no one would probably pay attention to what I am saying so a change was needed. For quite awhile I thought it was just me and no_money that were Jazz fans.
For now I will say this about Wesley Matthews and CJ Miles. I think a new analysis of the two players are in order after what we saw from them in the playoffs.
Wesley Matthews Best Case Secenario: Jeff Hornacek Worst Case Scenario, Gordon Giricek
CJ Miles Best Comparison: Jamal Crawford, Worst Case Scenario: Deshawn Stevenson
Alot of you might disagree with the comparison for Miles but let me remind that both Matthews and Miles are the same age, so they both have a long ways to grow and get better.
We need to draft Ekpe Udoh, I have posted many times as to why, and Im sure you have all heard my reasons so I will not say them again but I would not be mad with Ed Davis or Cole Aldrich either. Also if we do end up trading up to get Monroe, do it with Sacramento
AK, Korver and 9th pick for Garcia, Nocioni, and the 5th pick.
We would get Monroe and two tough nosed replacements for AK and save money, which might be used to resign Booz or bring over Ante Tomic which also needs to happen soon. While Sacramento gets their starting SF, can still draft Aldrich with the 9th pick and nice shooter to help them in the playoffs which could happen within the next 2 or three years.
Utah Lineup
Okur/Fez
Millsap/Monroe
Nocioni/Garcia
Matthews/Miles
Dwill/PriceKings Lineup
Aldrich/Hawes
Landry/Thompson
AK/Casspi
Evans/Korver

Captain LParticipantFavors is the only player I would want to give up assets for to move up. I’m not thinking that will happen so my thinking is we will be getting someone at #9.
My First choice is Udoh, I like his game, he hustles, works hard, has a good attitude, he has good handles for a big, he can create off the dribble, he loves to play Def.(which Booz & Okur have never done), he blocks shots very well., is very long (which is what we need) & his shot is OK and with his work ethic should improve.
Monroe would be my second pick, he is big,& long, but plays more like a center and I would want him to play the 4. He is talented and has good handles but is a bit too one handed (left).
Babbitt would be my next pick, he is 6’9″, which for a 3 is what we need, he is more athletic than people think, he has a 37.5 vertical, and finished in the top 4 or 5 in the agility run at the combine. He can really shoot and has very good handles. He is strong 15 reps on the bench, he dunks a lot, shoots the 3 very good and can hit the pull up jumper. His offensive game is pretty complete. He could play some 4 in small ball times.
George would be next, he is very good offensively too and he is 6’9″ and long, he can play the 2 as well as the 3, he shoots well, has good handles and can create for himself and others. To me there isn’t too much difference between Babbitt and George.
Next I’m starting to reach a little, Orton would be my next pick, he is big, strong, long, plays good D and has good upside.
Next would be Davis or Sanders, Davis is athletic but his offensive game needs alot of work and he has narrow shoulders and that makes me worry he won’t be able to put on much muscle or weight.
Sanders needs weight and strength but has good upside.0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/05/2010 - 4:44pm #327540
Ahkasi ClayParticipantI’m in Palm Springs,
I am the only Jazz fan I Know.LOL I’m so lonley

the27guyParticipantSakitSaPuwit, I’m laughing my head off man. Good to know they have good taste in palm springs.
apb540, I don’t know any of these people, although I do believe I’ve seen Captain L on the DNews website more than a time or two.
I’ve been on this site since 06-ish. There have always been a lot of Jazz fans…. but for all the people who aren’t Jazz fans, you ave to understand a couple things.
1st, we don’t have any thing else proffesional in the beehive state…. just basketball…. so we’re kind of forced into it from birth, I know I was.
and 2nd (this is why you may have noticed the increase in fans) This is our 2nd top 10 pick in the last 25 years. Look it up. It’s true. So, while the Golden State, TWolves, and Clipper fans have grown accustomed to this, for us Jazz fans, it’s a less than one a decade experience.
The ESA is going to be going crazy on Draft night, and I’ll be there eating all the free hot dogs I can get!

wesleymatthews23ParticipantWell SAkitsapuwit dont get too lonely. I am from Nebraska so that is further away than Palm Springs, and no one but me is a Jazz fan from Nebraska. What do you think of my ideas? I like Udoh but Captain L it sounds like you are more for Monroe instead of Udoh. In your analysis, Monroe is better and he is the guy we need to go for, but you also forgot to mention that Udoh has great a work ethic while Monroe is so so on work ethic.

jazznationpresidentParticipantI’d take Monroe over udoh. Monroe needs someone like sloan to help him figure it out. Once he does, sky the limit. Udoh, credit to him, has figured it out, so you are already seeing his potential. That year off helped him. Even still, Monroe was a better player without figuring it out.
But I doubt monroe will be there unless the jazz trade up in which case, udoh is a great pick for them.
I’m curious as to why the jazz didn’t bring George in for their “wings” workout today.
Intersesting read in the desnews forum today about Babbit’s play against Utah state and how players played him and shut him down.
