Is it safe to say Jereme Richmond is a Rudy Gay 2.0?

Not at all safe to say that. He is smaller and lacking a jump shot.

Throw out a comparison then…….Perry Jones is too big to be compared to Rudy Gay…..Richmond is 6’8” he is only a Fr. which gives him plenty of time to bulk up.

I wonder how many people throw out comparisons based on one game of watching a player play. The kid is a freshman who is getting limited time because of the deep team the Illini have. He was a McD’s AA and still has a couple of years to develop.

To say that he is going to be a reserve at this point is premature. He has the ability to be a lock down defender and can get to the rack with ease. Just needs to work on his shooting. He is balling today against the #1 team in the nation.

Richmond isn’t 6’8. All you have to do is see him out there among the others on the floor to see that is an inflated measurement and he is very thin. The jump shot actually kind of matters. There isn’t a long list of small forwards in the NBA who can’t shoot from outside the paint. He has to work on that. I credit him for being a good creator and a decent passer, but he isn’t anything close to where Rudy Gay was while at UConn.

He’s not Rudy Gay at the Same stage that’s for sure, But he has very good potential and should get better. Not really a good shooter but does a Lil bit of everything. I heard he’s only 6’6 which would make sense sense he looked a good 6 inches shorter than Harrison Barnes when they stood next to each other

Richmond should get better, but Rudy Gay was ridiculous from the moment he stepped foot on a college floor. The only thing that slowed him in college was wanting to play hard every night. Richmond is a nice player, but different in style and different in overall ability.

Richmond is 6-6 with a high basketball iq can rebound, handle the ball and has leadership skills, and can score and the paint, jumpshot definitely needs some work.

Yeah, ok, right now he’s not the greatest shooter in the world but if you see his high school tape and watched him as much as I have this year, it’s not going to hard for him to get that down. Right now, he’s just like a complimentary player and energy guy. Next year, goodbye Tisdale, Davis, McCamey, and Cole. Richardson, Paul, and Leonard are going to progress and Richmond will be the go to guy. His jumper will be solid and his post game is already ahead of most freshman and after a stellar year, I think he can go top 15

Do you see all the NEGATIVITY, use it as your guide. Work harder everyday on what you need to accomplish. Even if you aren’t in the NBA today doesn’t mean that your future doesn’t include you putting on an NBA team JERSEY. Yes you have to take a different route unfortunately. You have the skills, TAKE ADVICE with open ears and implement it however never forget who you are. Take NEGATIVITY and use it as FUEL. YOU CAN DO IT JEREME, YOU CAN DO IT, BELIEVE BROTHER BELIEVE. Your game will continue to evolve, you should be even better now 1 year REMOVED from ILLINOIS. Does it really matter what league that youre in at this point, you need the EXPOSURE, whether playing from Sauk Valley, Taiwan, Europe whatever. Remember one thing my talented friend, AT LEAST YOU are playing against others who you can use as PRACTICE, ultimately to reach YOUR PROMISED LAND.

STAY POSITIVE within JEREME, when you continue to climb your inner confidence can never be broken AS YOUVE OVERCOME ADVERSITY, you really are in control of YOUR DESTINY. Don’t stop believing in JEREME RICHMOND JEREME RICHMOND, work on going to your left, pulling up for the jumper, staying in front of others on defense. IF MYERS CAN DO IT, what does that tell you, it still is your faith.

I know that some folks look at where youre at as BEING NO-WHERE (THAT IDIOCRACY) , however thats not true, you are SOME WHERE, YOU ARE SOMEONE, you will catch a break, just PLAY HARDER THAN YOUR COMPETITION, keep your head focused on your FUNDAMENTALS, KEEP IMPROVING, there is ALWAYS something to work on, getting stronger, faster, better conditioning, SMILING most importantly please do your best to make others around you better, be THE BEST TEAMMATE as your tangibles and intangibles are ASSETS to those who witness your GRACE and PASSION.

Jereme, you STILL WANT IT RIGHT!!! YOU ARE STILL on the radar and YOU ARE STILL JEREME RICHMOND, BE PROUD however don’t get too comfortable as you have to stay ready because that call can come at anytime. CHOOSE WISELY and continue to BELIEVE, keep your FAITH, as if you STAY FOCUSED, unfortunately you will lose some who call themselves your friend however you have no friends at this point besides the ones who are willing to aid you in your QUEST for THE NBA those who are willing to help you work on your game, those who are providing you with something positive, hell I would rebound for you if needed.

Post up, go left, go right, face the opponent, hit that 8 ft jumper, dribble and blow by your defender, cross over drive past him and dunk, pull up and hit that 12-15 footer, work on improving your range, LEAVE THEM WITH NOTHING TO QUESTION BESIDES WHY DIDNT WE TAKE HIM INITIALLY.

      THE TRUTH…..

Ha ha. I don’t remember exactly how I came upon this thread, but it’s safe to say 1 year later that Jereme is no Rudy Gay. He couldn’t even cut it for the D-League and is now stuck playing for the Sauk Valley Predators in the Premier Basketball League.
