After their disappointing 1st Rd playoff exit, the Bulls should be in panic mode in regards to the 2013 season. DRose may miss the entire season, Luol Deng may miss a huge portion of it, and the rest of the team has been exposed, not being nearly as talented as management may have believed they were.

What the Bulls need more than a scorer is another playmaker (or two) but they have almost no cap flexibility at the moment. A lot of fans have been clamoring for Steve Nash, but he is obviously out of the Bulls’ price range. Jeremy Lin would be an excellent replacement for DRose next year and would be reasonably priced (4-6mil/yr).

Lin would also be an excellent backup to Rose when he returns and could allow him to be eased back slowly into starters minutes. And when DRose returns to 100%, they could play together at times and allow Lin to be the playmaker and Rose the scorer.

Jeremy Lin sat out of that Heat series to make some money. He’s looking for a big contract.

That narrows the list of candidates down quite a bit, leaving really only two teams who look like a big enough mess to contend for the most ping pong balls in next year’s lottery: the Houston Rockets and the Orlando Magic.

The same articles get written every year about how goofy the voting process is for the Basketball Hall of Fame, and with the imminent inclusion of fan voting somewhere down the road, it’s about to get even goofier.

“Jeff has come into his own as a point guard,” Williams said of Teague’s emergence as a floor general. “Myself and Devin have been established in this league for a number of years. So I don’t really think we’re rebuilding. I think we’re restructuring honestly. We have a lot of new pieces and that’s what training camp is for. Once we put the pieces in the right place, I think we’ll be able to compete immediately.”

As he continues to build up his strength, Horford is now working with a new strength and conditioning coach, as the Hawks hired Jeff Watkinson in the offseason. For the previous two seasons, Watkinson owned his own business that helped the physical training, development and conditioning of NBA players. He also had previously worked at Indiana University and a number of other Division I schools.

When Howard was traded to the Lakers in August, O’Neal analyzed the situation this way: “You have to care to have a reaction. I’ve got businesses to run. I always tell people that in order to step in my shoes, you have big shoes to fill. For him, he’s going to have to at least win three to get people’s respect.”lkyu5665

But that doesn’t mean O’Neal has to keep bringing it up. Just sit back and relax, Shaq. You did yours, and we respect that. But nobody has to hate Howard to love you.dg343434

It’s too early to tell how good Waiters will be right away, but here’s what we think we know: He’s a streaky shooter from the perimeter, he can get to the basket practically at will, and as coach Byron Scott said, “he can go over the top” of defenders once there. Overall, he’s looking pretty good.bjdhgdfs

That’s important because with Antawn Jamison (Lakers) and Anthony Parker (retirement) gone, the Cavs needed to find perimeter threats — particularly once Waiters and Irving get in the lane, draw double-teams and kick it to spotted-up teammates.bsgf324

Again, it’s early, but that is the way it’s looking. Samuels and Leuer are both expected to back up second-year man Tristan Thompson at power forward. Samuels is more of an inside threat, Leuer is a big man who’s effective from the perimeter. So it’s a safe bet Scott will play each according to matchups.bngfsaf322354

Pargo is a bit of a good-natured prankster and just generally fun to be around. But his coach is a fan because of the way Pargo pushes the ball in practice.fdg4e3434

Then again, Scott has already said it’s possible the Cavs keep both Pargo and Sloan, and Harangody just accepted the team’s qualifying offer over the summer. So keep in mind, all the names mentioned are pure speculation. And a few of them will make it.fgsf3434

“He is still 19 and still a rookie, but he is picking up everything they are trying to help him (with),” Monroe said. “You can never put expectations on an unknown. It’s not like this is a guy who has played for two years. This is a guy without any kind of NBA action, so everything that happens is kind of going to be a surprise. I am interested to see how he does. Obviously, I hope he does well because he can help our team out a whole lot.

The Rockets have been looking for a way to move Martin, one of the last remnants of the Rick Adelman era in Houston, and the Thunder were looking to avoid the maximum contract discussion that Harden’s camp was trying to have. This deal accomplishes both things, and also gives the Thunder depth and draft picks in the deal.

With a little over two months away from his 30th birthday and a family rooting for him to succeed, Curry looks like he’s humbled and ready to start over and turn over a new leaf in the NBA. Just taking a look at the much slimmer Curry this October, it’s apparent that he’s put in the time and effort to get his weight and diet under control.

It was a surprise when the Toronto Raptors took Terrence Ross eighth overall at the NBA Draft in June, but after hearing head coach Dwane Casey’s explanation, the pick made sense for Toronto. Casey had scouted Ross personally before last year’s lockout-shortened season got underway and the young wing had exceeded expectations during his sophomore season at Washington.
