jaycee24ParticipantMan oh Man the pistons sad excuse 4 a GM made the most idiotic move I’ve ever seen… Worse than Darko I dare say by drafting the biggest bitch in the draft being Austin Daye. The cat is garbage and my 40 year old dad literally has a better vert than him. The worst part about it all is we could of got him in the 2nd round but apparently GMs must have been salivating over his skills late in the 1st…NOT!!!! He isn’t even a need and he really doesn’t have a position and isn’t close to being NBA ready. If we were drafting potential then Joe should of picked up BJ Mullens. To make matters worse we gave up one of the biggest steals in the draft by trading away Chase Budinger for a bunch of Bullshit. I’m just sayin man Joe needs to get his mind right.
BTW I didn’t see the GREAT John Bryant drafted what a shame Austin Daye might of had more hops than someone lol0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/27/2009 - 2:00pm #172465
Knicksboy34Participantwhats up B-town….
Also, I think the Daye pick was solid…if he played in the ACC or Big East, he would have went top 5. He is a solid shooter at 6-11 and can block and pass well. He needs to hit the weight room. It’s not a bad thing, I remember Dwight Howard coming in the League Skinny, he has indentical height to Howard so he could get the muscle.
Also, I love the Jerebko pick, it was a classic Pistons pick. Jerebko can shoot, pass, rebound and he plays some solid Defense…

birdman113the pistons are going into rebuilding mode they saw that Daye has potentiol to be a good scorer he just needs a lot of work on his game, Mullens didnt even do anything for Ohio State and they knew he was going to be a bust. they probably used saying that they would take Mullens as a smoke screne.

gatorheelsParticipantI don’t know guys….Daye has some unique skills for a big man but i’m not sure he has the desire to be great. Plus he wasn’t even that impressive playing in that weak conference in college. He has to gain some weight, get tougher, get motivated, get smarter, improve his ball handling, improve his defense…..I mean he has a long way to go. I think he will be a bust.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think when he gain weight people will wonder why he did not go top 5. Dude is skilled and I think he dad played proffessional ball as well. I his biggest problem is going to be his weight. Look at what is happening to Randolph, dude was skinny and is probably going to get bigger but dude grew an inch as is a legit 7 0 foot now and has guards skills and he is athletic. In 2 year he will be the best player out of a very good draft. He could possibly a KG type. Daye will not get to his level but even if he is close he was deserving of a 15 pick and also if you look at it they got a nice European player that could be a OKur lite. Remember, Dumars grabbed Darko after having success with Okur. Problem was Darko was young and could not handle the pressure. Okur had no pressure and develope gradually over time and became All Star like. The success of Melo, Lebron, Wade, Bosh and other in that draft really hurt Darko confidence and if he can ever get it back, he could be an Okur. If you look at his skill set he can do everything Okur can and is better on D. I believe Daye has some toughness that could help him get to that next level with some weight gain and strength like Prince did. People did not see prince as anything special until he made a few highlights in the playoffs on D.

jaycee24ParticipantYou guys are all seeming 2 forget homeboy has zero hops and is slow as hell. That means he is too thin and will get pushed around in the post by big men but he also will be too slow to hold small fowards with no handle to get around them. Hes so weak he prolly couldnt even back a 2 guard let alone a small foward. So now you have a 3-4 who is a defensive liability and needs work on his handle. Where’s the potential in that?
