canesboy6ParticipantAnybody seen this kid play? I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews, but hope he isn’t a one and done type.

Hoop FreakZParticipantScout.com and Espn both have him ranked as the #3 player in the country in the class of 2009. It seems like he is a triple threat post-player (pass, dribble and shoot). I heard somewhere that he was a guard that had a growth spurt and now his position is a power-forward and a lot of his ability carried over. In the end of it, he is a hell of a player whose only real weakness is strength, comparsion: brandon wright (with a better outside shot)

don042488ParticipantJohn Henson is way to skinny to be a one and done. He’s going to have to stay to at least his sophomore season, and bulk up to at least 220 or 230.

JoppersI see John Henson being very similar to Anthony Randolph(GSW). The same problem with John Henson is that he needs to gain some meat on his bones or coaches will not feel comfortable with playing him.

shaq2355ParticipantJohn Henson is a great prospect…I agree he is rail thin but has alot of skill for a 6’10 kid…I am a huge UNC fan and would love to see this guy stay for a few years, however I dont see it happening. The nba loves guys like this and he would be drafted high off potential alone (a la Anthony randolph). I like the Anthony Randolph comparison but Henson is better on the defensive side of the floor. It would be smart for him to stay a few years, for him to work on his body but the nba will come calling early on this guy for that potential and that is hard to pass up for alot of kids.

ncballerHis potential is unmatched in this class. Has long arms, outstanding athleticism, some guard skills, a decent jumpshot, and awesome competiveness. Aside from his obvious lack of strength, I don’t see a glaring weakness in his game except for refining his post moves. I love the Anthony Randolph comparison. Look for him to be an instant star at UNC. I think he can come into UNC start right away and average 16 points, 5-7 rebounds, 3-4 blocks. His length is scary.

quincey hodgeshis potenial is unmatched?..i disagree..perry has more potenial and is a better player in my opnion..anyway what does harrison barnes signingdo for henson?..it puts him at the pf position. he has the potenial to play sf down the road but its farther down the road then what people think..its a case of a guy who can handle a lil and is tall so everyone wants to make him the next durant or mcgrady

Adi JosephHenson does have huge potential, but as many said, he needs to bulk up substantially. Putting on 20-30 pounds is hardly an easy prospect, and Henson doesn’t have the same kind of fluid athleticism that makes Randolph stand out.
With that said, Henson probably has the most volatile stock in this draft class, save for Sidney. What I mean by that is, the results on the court are key for him, but he’s really not guaranteed anything.
He may not crack UNC’s crunch-time rotation this year.
Expect him to be a mid-lottery pick in 2011, unless he can bulk up. In which case, he could be No. 1 in 2011

SlimParticipantPerry Jones is better

Adi JosephIt’s very doubtful Henson would be a one-and-done type. He wouldn’t have chosen UNC had he wanted to go that route.

SlimParticipantur right i changed my post, i think he can bulk up to around 220 he’ll be good
