butidonthavemoneyHave you seen Malone throw down in his younger days? Dominic Wilkins? Those guys are in the top three with LeBron.
Also I heard that John Wall is only 6’1″ too, even though he is listed as 6’4″ on all the draft sites.

Michael.S.Participantmy bad Allen Iverson is one of the GREATEST finishers EVER

ncballerThis John Wall hype is getting out of control. Putting him in the top 10 finishers with those guys is just INSANE. If he was even close to those guys at finishing you would think his HS team would win the state championship wouldn’t you? These expectations are not fair to John. I love the kid and would love him at UNC, but my gosh this is just INSANE to say the least. The guy hasn’t even picked a college team yet.

illinimanmarkParticipantI agree with ncballer. Let’s let this guy play a game or two in the NBA before he gets all this hype. I’m sure he will be a very good player, if not a really great player but c’mon, the kid hasn’t even been drafted yet.

Stanford hoopsParticipantIS THIS REALLY A DISSCUSSION..BEST FINISHERS EVER?..LOL..they did a poll at the allamerican game asking all the players who they though the best finishers were are they majority said wally judge( though i dont see it but they would know more than me because they practice and played against him for years)…even if you entertain they thought he wouldnt be one of the best in the last couple of years..peopel seem to forget ishmal muhammud from gt or the wilson kid from memphis tigers( back when they had lorenszn wright) then theres ronnie feilds and theres a white kid on youtube who jut jumps out of the gym..james white, gerld henderson, etc

Michael.S.ParticipantAi is the greatest little man finisher ever so that should put him at least top10
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/10/2009 - 1:05pm #149212
Hoop FreakZParticipantHe hasn’t even played a college game, never the less a pro game, and someone is comparing him as one of the greatest finishers EVER, how about we wait until he gets into the league to start this conversation?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/10/2009 - 1:15pm #149216
Stanford hoopsParticipantyeah he has to at least play a college game first before we start this disscussion

ncballerMikenike I live in NC and I have seen Wall play 5 times. He is an excellent player with a ton of potential, but his finishing looks good because he is playing high school competition. He can get very out of control trying to finish plays, and rushes his shot. He still needs to add more strength to become a better finisher. Believe it or not he missed layups on the high school level. Derrick Rose was probably the freshman finisher I saw ever in the NCAA last season and whenever I have seen him struggle to finish in the NBA. I don’t think Wall is even at Derrick Rose’s level yet at finishing or is even the player Rose is at the same stage. That being said I want JW in a UNC uni REALLY bad.

dolla130Participantare you guys serious thats just in highschool if i recall they rookie of the year derrick rose was a way better finisher in highschool then wall, some of you probably seen youtube vids of like 2 dunks now you wanna make him out to be a little lebron come on wait till he gets in college then we will see
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/10/2009 - 1:52pm #149233
Stanford hoopsParticipantrose was the best finisher you have ever saw in the ncaa?..how long have you been watching ncaa basketball…just to name a few recent finishers…dwade, carmelo ismul muhammuid( not as good but we are talking finishers) beasely, griffin even hansboro( i dont particularly like him but he seems to finsh pretty well on the college level)..i do agre with you on the wall missing layups thing though…ive been catching up on his game via watching games on dvd an i did notice he rushes sometime which is expected in high..but if you have seen d rose in highschool he was the same way..a tad bit more composed though esspecially during aau..
0- Posted on: Sun, 05/10/2009 - 2:21pm #149245
dolla130Participanti said in highschool rose was a way better finisher then john wall and i also agree with ncballer he is a good player but u cant rate him that high as a elite finisher just yet this iz only like the 2nd yr ppl have actually seen him play and isnt he like a 5yr senior in highschool so one could say he is supposed to be in college stating that he is finishing among boys and not men

ncballerjosh, best freshman PG finisher I ever saw in the NCAA. Should have clarified.

Stanford hoopsParticipantok..i can understand that with the ncaa and ever saw…but watch some tape of isah thomas and iverson..they were very good finishers in the ncaas
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/10/2009 - 2:23pm #149248
nthegoodlifeParticipantD Rose was def. one of the best NCAA finishers, he’s so effortless. He also finished at full speed in big games last year, he’s simply amazing. To those of you who put Wall up there, wtf are you guys smoking. He’s on a high school team that lost games, I bet when the game was on the line he obviously missed some shots and many of those were driving I’m sure. I’m sure he’s great for his age and class, but to compare him to all time greats of the game is blasphemous.

Stanford hoopsParticipantthats tru dolla he is basically a college freshman
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/10/2009 - 2:46pm #149259
Stanford hoopsParticipantim not sure you can fully judge a player by how well there highschool team does ..if so then jeremy tyler would be considered not that good because his team finished with 13 loses..lance stephonsons team also had alot of loses

ncballerjosh huestis very true. John Henson’s team didn’t do so hot this season as well. Heck a backcourt of Abdul Gaddy and Avery Bradley couldn’t win a state championship a few years ago. I haven’t seen Tyler’s team play so I can’t comment on them. However Stephenson was definatly part of the problem at Lincoln.
Word of God is a team full of division 1 athletes, including 3 guys I could see making the NBA in JW, CJ Leslie and Bishop Daniels (that kid is about 6’0″ and getting his forehead above the rim). With the competition they were going up against with the exception of St. Patricks, and Christ School, they should have gone undefeated IMHO. JW is someone who is a highly emotional player. However I will give you that CJ Leslie is a complete headcase so that might have factored in. JW can let his emotions get the best of him. He got so furstrated with Ian Miller in the state championship game that he dribbled the ball out of bounds and Miller hit a contreversial game winning 3. Miller’s team shouldn’t have even been in the game on paper. JW will grow out of that though with maturity. That is what IMHO ultimately seperates Rose from Wall at the same stage of their careers. Rose was mentally more mature, and composed. Things didn’t get to Rose’s head whereas I see oppenents get into Wall’s. Wall with some more maturity and mental toughness though is making my mouth salivate thinking about it.
Again I can’t reiterate enough of how much I want this kid in Carolina blue. He is tailor made for UNC’s offense. Thinking about him throwing oops to Davis and Henson. Wow…
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/10/2009 - 3:53pm #149301
Stanford hoopsParticipanti would think he would pick carolina for the fact they really are only missing a point guard ( on paper)

ncballerUNC hasn’t offered yet. They may have too many obstacles to overcome in this one. Wall’s SAT scores come back in 11 days to see if he qualifies at UNC. Also as more info comes out about how serious his recent citation is. (I have heard different things about what went down) Also Wall’s handler of his recruitment is STRONGLY against UNC because they pulled back an offer from one of his former AAU kid’s after he didn’t develop. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Stanford hoopsParticipantyeah i heard about one of his handlers being against him going to unc
