Jonny Flynn signs to play for Melbourne Tigers
not going to stop the Breakers from the Three-peat.
This was not the way I saw Flynns career
I would rather him back up Damian Lillard than Nolan Smith. He played rather well at the end of last year for my Blazers, but then Raymond Felton (the lazy one not the NYK one) was the Starter.
When i first heard they had signed a player who was just cut by the Pistons i immediately thought Terrence Williams ( forgetting he signed in China) and had a mini heart attack.
will be interesting seeing teams trying to stop him.
Algudz, he ain't getting past CJ Bruton lol (just hoping he can at least keep up a bit). Abercrombie is going to lead them to a three-peat. Go Breakers!
I live in Melbourne so can't wait to watch him play. Hopefully make it to the Breakers vs Tigers to watch.
with Gold Coast Blaze gone hopefully someone brings back the Bullets
wooooow. I blame Kurt Rambis. killed the guys confidence tryingto force that fake triangle offense. Hopefu;lly when he get his confidence and flow back hell be back in the league. Why not go to Europe tho?
Wow, not sure how they managed to financially pull this off. Lets hope he sticks around in oz for a little while yet...
I support the Crocodiles and the Taipans... but this has to be good for the NBL somehow
This is certainly going to increase the quality of the NBL, maybe he can save melbourne from their sub-par start. Breakers still gonna threepeat.
He's still young so hopefully he can work his way back to the NBA. He put up 14-4-2 his rookie season, which aren't great stats, but good enough to stick around the league especially when on a depleted T'Wolves roster. It's a shame once he got hurt in his second year, he was never really given the chance to prove himself again. He's got a great personality, and I think he will return the NBA some day.
He was pretty good in limited minutes for the Pistons in training camp and proved that he would be capable of being a backup in the NBA (heck, there's even time to improve to be a starter, he's only 23 - it took Chauncey Billups many years to figure it all out too). He will be a great player for the Tigers.
I'm just annoyed Newcastle doesn't have an NBL team because I won't get to see him play.
Its gonna be HUGE in terms of marketing and exposure for basketball in Australia. Or at least, it should be. I don't have much faith in the NBL administration...

Rejoice Australian fans ! This is easily one of the better players we will see play in the NBL! He certainly should be on an NBA team, we lucked out here. I'll be in the crowd for the November 19th game in Melbourne.

JONNY Flynn, a 23-year-old former top-10 pick in the NBA draft, is set to replace Melbourne Tigers import Kevin Braswell who was released by the club this morning.
Braswell, 33, has played with niggling injuries so far this season and Tigers coach Chris Anstey wanted a fully-fit squad to seize on the club's season opening win on Sunday.
He visited Braswell on Monday morning and told him the news, face to face.
"Kev has been an absoute pro this whole time but he has been playing hurt and we need someone with a few different capabilities to really help us build on what we are doing here," Anstey said.
"There's no hard feelings and we're sure Kev will get another job because he has a lot to offer the league."
Anstey said new boy Flynn represented one of the highest-quality players the NBL had seen in some time.
A number six pick in the 2009 NBA draft, the point-guard has been through NBA clubs Minnesota, Houston, Portland and, most recently, Detroit.
After being released by the Pistons recently, FLynn's management contacted Anstey to sound out opportunities at the Tigers.
