Mad MaxParticipantIf there was ever one play to define Josh Smith’s career, it would be from last night. Crunch time against the Knicks who are horrible on defense, with Carmelo Anthony who is a horrible defensive player right up on Josh, J-Smoove decides instead to settle for a god-awful shot, that he air-balls.
Congrats Detroit, you could have had a great frontcourt duo for years to come with Drummond and Monroe, but instead you blew all that money on Josh Smith………and to make matters worse, you threw more gas on the fire by adding Brandon Jennings…..good job, just great.
As for Josh Smith, will he ever learn?

r377ParticipantI agree. Even though i thought Brandon Knight would of come good by having Billups and Cheeks to mentor him, but when they decided to go and get another PG they should of drafted Trey Burke.
KCP did not shoot well in college and is now shooting 38% in the pros. He does look ok, he can get open and get good shots but he just doesn’t knock them down – hence his low fg %. He is also not shy about shooting, prob not a great attribute to have when your on the same team as josh smith and brandon jennings….

TyroberParticipantI am a Hawks fan and I was so glad to see him go. It isn’t that I think he is a bad player, but he should never shoot a 3ball period. The big man lineup with Smith, Drummond, and Monroe was destined to be a disaster, but Smith is NOT a 3. He should not be out on the perimeter shooting jumpshots and I do not know why a coach has not banned him to never shoot on the perimeter yet.

XYRYXParticipantThe sad thing about his signing is all the trade talk about moving Monroe for financial reasons in the future. He hardly can be moved now with this contract but if they really want to make it even worse they should try really hard to unload Smith and trade him for J.R. To the Knicks.
I have no doubt that the Pistons organisation is dumb enough to to that.
On the other end I think Jennings gets way to much blame this season. He is playing nicely imo and his assist are finally up to a good rate and this without any reliable backcourt mate at the 2. I wouldn’t call KCP a bust so early but he really can’t hande a starting spot at this point. Blame the Pistons that they still haven’t found a way to trade Stuckey or Charly V whose contracts should be very moveable.

FastAndFuriousParticipantI mean I called it out along with other people, that putting Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings is a recipe for disaster sooner than later lol on paper the Pistons starting looks legit, but everyone knows it wouldn’t work.
Smith is always going to think he can play on the perimeter and do it effectively when really he is more of a stretch 4, I still don’t understand how some with as much athleticism and strength as him still wants to bomb away jumpers, doesn’t make any sense, Brandon Jennings has actually been decent this year though.

joecheck88ParticipantI really didn’t mind the BJ move. I think he has been a nice player for them he just didn’t make sense for the organization. Josh Smith makes even less sense than BJ. They should’ve been more patient. Just don’t spend your money on a guy like J Smoove. Develop some of your young guys. Get a nice piece or 2 for Monroe and draft high in 2014. Signing Josh Smith screamed I want to be the 8th seed or just miss the playoffs for the next 4 years. Sometimes I wonder about these GM’s. I’m not saying I would be Sam Presti but I don’t think I would be the worst GM in the league.
