After our A draft and getting Darko, Hill and Douglas. We are looking up towards 2010. We need to add a couple of things in FA tho. We need a shooter and a basket attacking SG/SF. For the shooting, we could add a player like Linas Klezia or a Steve Novak to be a great shooter. Other than that, we would have you use trades. To add someone in a trade, we could aquire Portland’s Martell Webster or even Utah’s CJ Miles. For a basket attacker, we could use a guy like Gerald Green.

Also, we have 2 2nd round 2010 picks ( our own and Denver’s) so we not in a terrible shape for 2010. We also have a pretty good chance to add a 1st round 2010 pick. With good scoring options like Al Harrington, Larry Hughes and a big man like Eddy Curry, a team in contention ( i.e Houston, Orlando, Philadelphia, Utah ) or a team who wants to make a shake up (Sacramento, Detroit) could offer a 2010 pick to sweeten a deal to get better…or cap-space.

Here is what I could do if I was Donnie Walsh during Free Agency

Trade David Lee (here’s my deal)

Lee and to Memphis for 2010 1st round pick ( Los Angles) Greg Buckner and Darius Miles

Trade Nate Robinson (Here is my deal)

Nate and Harrington to Sacramento for and Greene. NY adds Greene and his high upside and Thomas expiring deal. Sac gets a 20 ppg scorer who can play SF or PF and is a expiring deal and Nate, who could be 6th man of the year.

    Offer a deal to

Gerald Green- Green could be this system Shawn Marion ( He wont play like Marion (or shoot) but he can be a solid SG/SF who can be a solid 6th man off the bench)
    My deal – 2 year/ 4 mil.

Channing Frye- Frye, he did not get any love in Portland but NY will love to have him back. He could be a solid player who can come off the bench as a PF/C and be solid.
    My Deal- 2 year/ 4mil

C.J. Watson- Watson is a RFA so we must make a qualifying offer. As a backup PG, he was solid. He could be the scoring to Duhon’s defense and passing
    My offer-3 year/11 mil

Come on Knicks fan!!! tell me what you think?

Some of these things look far-fetched. Lee and Mobley (I assume your talking about Cuttino, who has retired from a heart condition, so the trade is dead for sure after that) for Miles, Koufas, and Korver? The Jazz would screw themselves. Also, little Nate and Harrington for Thomas (Kenny i assume?,who once again is another retired player) and Greene would screw over the Knicks. Add in someone like Udrih or Garcia and maybe it balances.

Mobley’s deal is still on the Knicks cap. you can trade his expiring deal…Also, many teams already have deal waiting for Milsap ( a rumored 5 year/56 mil from OKC). Why match that when you can get David Lee?

Kenny Thomas’ money is still on the books as well in Sac. The Knicks would do that deal in a hearbeat, maybe if Sac adds a 2 2010 2n round picks and were good.

good post knicksboy i agree with everything maybe because im biased i dont know I think Lee is better then Millsap so Utah would do it, for the SAC trade they are clearly getting the best of the deal but were losing a lot of cap

you think so? I mean, after 2010 we will have 5 players under cap, we could afford to make some moves, we wont lose a lot of cap. I mean 7 mil for 3 young players and we get like 1.5 mil back from those teams in those trades.

trading for korver and greene would give us 4 SF and one of them is Gallinari, so D’antoni isn’t going to bring in people to take away some of his minutes. Theres no way we sign channing. He already proved he cant handle NY and hasnt proved anything since he left either. Gerald Green is an intriguing sign because he is so athletic and young and we are thin at SG at the moment. CJ Watson is just another scrub. and how is Watson the scoring to Duhons defense? First off duhon sucks nuts at defense and watson isnt some prolific scorer off the bench.

Overall we can get better for DLee. Nate i can see going to sacramento but not with harrington(prolly jeffries). and gerald green would be a solid signing.

Korver can be a SG and Greene can be a PF. Watson does not suck at all he avg 17 and 5 in April

Greene can not and should not be a PF, the dude is a 3 point chucker and cant rebound. Yea Watson averaged 17 and 5 in april, he also averaged about 45 minutes a game in april too. That doesnt average out too well to the 20 minutes he would be playing as a backup.

Dude, you consider yourself a Knicks fan?
You are trading away our 3 best players (Lee, Harrington and Nate are our 3 best players) for a bunch of junk.

Statistics aren’t everything, but I’ll try to illustrate this with a pretty good summary statistic: PER
The NBA average PER is about 15.
    Lee 19
    Nate 19
    Harrington 16

    Miles 12
    Koufos 15
    Korver 12
    Thomas 9
    Greene 5
So in summary, every player you are giving up is above average, and every player you are getting back is below average. Great. Plus we’d be the worst team in the NBA next year and we don’t even have a pick.

I’m not opposed to trading Lee and Nate since we need the cap room, but I would hope we’d get something of value back.
I’m intrigued by Koufos, he’s the only one worth something, but not for that price.

I wouldn’t mind signing Greene though, or Frye for that matter.

But your missing the point, we cannot hold Lee or Nate, by getting some high upside players (Kufous, Miles and Greene) we can give them more PT in a run and gun system. Kufous and Miles was buried on the bench. Greene needs more of a open system. Thomas and Korver are Expiring Contracts.

Dont ever question me as a knicks fan.

    Knicks Should

Trade Lee to Portland for Bayless and Outlaw

    Or Nate for Bayless

    Hughes and Mobley for TMac

If we resign Nate and Lee then, sign Jason Kidd and trade Hughes and Mobley for Tmac

Who would accept Mobley and Hughes for T-Mac? One of those players doesnt even play anymore! No one would trade T-Mac for Hughes, injury prone T-mac or not.

Walsh would not take back that much salary. Alot of good little pieces but they add up in cost. Most of the players we get in these trades are very intriguing but also still unproven. Korver brings a skill in shooting but not much else. I like Miles alot but he still has alot to prove. Koufos hasnt done anything yet. Thats around 10 million in contracts.

Frye I want to like because we drafted him, but I just cant. He has good size but doesnt like to play inside and his athleticism is overrated. Not much defensively either.

I think the only way Donnie bothers doing a sign and trade with Nate is if Jeffries goes with him. A trade with Sacramento is what I predict with Nate though. We would have to get someone like Greene back to make it worth while.

I have been thinking about it, and I am thinking more and more that Lee would be a perfect fit for OKC. I am starting to get a strange feeling that’s where he goes. They have alot of shooters and he would be a great garbage man for them. I think we could get a good player back for him. Dare I say Jeff Green?

I have always loved the Gerald Green signing. I just hope Walsh has the same foresight or he starts reading this thread.

Not blown away by Watson. I like signing Sessions or Kidd or making moves for either Lowry or Crittenton.

Portland has basically said Bayless is untouchable for now.

Another wildcard I have been a fan of since his high scool days is Shannon Brown. He started to prove that he can run the point this past season after questions of him being more of a 2.

Even after the Darko trade, rumors are still swirling about Walsh’s man-crush on Gortat. I hope we are smart enough not to waste our MLE on him.

Yeah I heard about New York going after Gortat. The Knicks really don’t need him…they should spend their money on someone else. Crittenton would be a good fit. I don’t think Oklahoma City is giving up Jeff Green even if they can get Lee in return. I don’t know why the Kings want Nate so bad.

Me neither but they can have him. He’s just not a winning player. He’s exciting at times but we lose alot of games when he scores 20+.
