GM: Kevin Pritchard ( Good history with big pocket franchises)
Assistant GM: Allan Houston ( Grooming to be GM one day)
Player Personal: Mark Warkentien ( Already there)

Hire Lawrence Frank as a defensive assistant ( Before he was hired to Boston, he spent most his time with the Knicks. Whoever comes in at GM will make him hire a defensive assistant)

17th pick: Marshon Brooks, SG, Providence
Camp Invite: Denzel Bowles, PF, James Madison

Keep: Shawne Williams and Ronny Turiaf

    Samuel Dalembert: 3 years/15 million
    – A big overpay, but we need size upfront. I think the Knicks will look to add him to play that 30-40 mintues a night just rebounding, blocking shots and at the worst, 6 big fouls a night.

    DeQuan Cook: 2 years/3 million
    – A deadeye shooter who wouldn’t be upset with not enough playing time and should be a offensive threat

    Sebastian Telfair: 1 year/1 million
    – Last season, Douglas couldn’t run the offense. I think the Knicks at least inquire about a 3rd point guard to run with Douglas just in case

    Billups
    Fields
    Anthony
    Stoudemire
    Dalembert

    Douglas
    Williams
    Turiaf
    Brooks

$5 million a year for Dalambert is good value as that is below MLE. The Knicks can feed him a few points to keep him happy and he can run the floor well for a big man. As a Pritch fan then getting him into the Knicks Front Office is a good move but seriously Pritch was a great deal maker and with Dolan’s money he can buy picks and get guys on the roster. Mark Warkentien is already in situ and would be an ideal guy to handle the contracts side whilst Pritch did the deals.

Would Coach D’Antoni go for a defensive coach especially a guy like Frank who was a Head Coach for so many years I wonder. Maybe a recently retired player or a Coach who would not want to be a lead coach again but a defensive option is needed for the Knicks coaching staff.

Wooh, I was expecting to see some retarded post of us trading Toney Douglas for Chris Paul, and hiring God as a GM and all types of crazy stuff

But, I like this…its very realistic, nothing too crazy, and i think it’ll ‘officially’ place us in the top tier of NBA teams, could see us competing with Bulls, Heat, Celts, Etc

    Nice, +1

Brooks is the guys that’s been "heating up’ Knicks workouts. Plus, D’Antoni won’t turn away from offense.

First off let’s hire Lawrence Frank as head coach. His coaching style is more suited towards winning championships than D’Antoni, and he puts emphasis on Defense. I am fine with all the GM stuff. Marshon I think would make for a great pick, or Darius Morris. Also, let’s not bother inviting Denzel Bowles to anything. I have watched that guy play for the last 2 years plays zero defense and is incredibly lazy, and not worth anyone’s time on the NBA level.

Knicks aren’t getting a new coach this year, I think next year is the best because the Knicks will be able to get a new coach. Maybe even a big name like Phil Jackson, Rick Adelman or John Calipari.

I was just adding a big man to the camp, Denzel Bowles was the first name I saw. Maybe Gary McGhee from Pitt would be a better choice.

Knicksfan, as much as I agree with letting go of DAntoni, realistically..its not gonna happen, atleast not this year, im just hoping we get Frank on board..

As for Brooks, their were rumors earlier this week saying that NYK possibly gave him a guarantee since after his workout he was "injured" for the Charlotte workout[pick after knicks], but would be available for the Pacers workout[pick before knicks]

But i guess that was "shot down" when he said he would "probably reschedule"

Its a decent plan.  No real complaints… but the Knicks need to decide right now if they want to spend some of their cap space this offseason or wait for next offseason when they have a shot at Howard, Paul or Williams.

Here is the Knicks current salary obligations. http://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_york.htm The Knicks may choose not to resign Douglas and buyout Balkman for some modest savings… but they will have this years first rounder on the books.  This doesn’t include cap holds on unsigned players, players rights they hold and minimum salary cap holds for the other 10 players (roster min of 13, Melo Amare and one other star).

So if the Knicks use their midlevel this year it takes away from the cap space which would be used for next year.  So instead of signing any of those stars next offseason you need a sign and trade… and the Knicks have no real tradeable assets.

I’m not really sure what the Knicks should do.  Use some of it now and the rest next offseason or save it all for that one big fish next year?  Between Howard, Paul and Williams.  Williams seems the most likely to bolt followed by Paul.  Howard hasn’t signed an extension which makes me believe all his talk is just that… talk.  He’s open to staying in Orl but he wants to see what happens this offseason and draft, next trade deadline and draft… and if it still seems like a sinking ship I think Dwight checks out other options.

Josh Selby could be a dark horse for the Knicks to take a 17, I know he’s only a freshman and didn’t set the NCAA on fire but he might have more upside than anyone else on the draft board when the Knicks pick. He could surely learn from Billups and play a bit off the ball if needed and if he had a few big games then his confidence could soar.

If the Knicks do buy into the draft apart as well as the 17th pick then Selby would be a great target for them.

I like Josh Selby alot, hes who im rooting for at 17…but it just seems unlikely, we have bigger needs than an undersized 2-guard..even though I believe Selby will develop into much more..

But you never know, Josh Selby is friends with Melo, Baltimore connection, and is/was working out with CBillups in Vegas, so he has a few connections

If the Knicks take Selby, I would be happy. I like his game. If they do decide Selby is the guy, I think they need to move Douglas for a 1st rounder in 2012 or in this draft if a guy like Brooks fall back in the late 20’s

You guys are forgeting about Jerome Jordan who is said to be coming over this year. Also Dalembert can make more money elsewhere especially since he is a legit big man, can play defense and the free agency is not that good this year.

I really like the idea. It seems like the best(reasonable) option there is. In the draft though, if Brooks and lets say Klay Thompson is on the board. You think Klay would be a better fit? Brooks does seem like a great scorer off the bench which the Knicks definitly need. Douglas was too inconsistent and gets bullied to much against good teams.

I want out main focus to be on big men or defense. jst draft faried he seems like a player u need to become a winner. get atleast two of these following bigmen, Jason Collins, Kwame Brown,Joel Pryzbylla,Nazr Mohammed, chuck hayes, samuel dalembert, jeff foster, and reggie evans. these big men arnt going to do much on stat sheet but they can be pieces for us to be a better overall team rebounding wise and defensivly.

Don’t draft Kenneth Faried. Dude is 6-7 man. I think he will be a good bench rebounder at best.

Kenneth Faried looks a decent prospect but the Knicks already have Turiaf who is a similar type player so taking Faried in my opinion would not be the greatest option.

I agree they need to decide now do they look to build on what they have got or wait to try and get one of the 2012 FA’s. My concern with the later idea is if they possibly waste another season next year not having a long term roster as that uses up another year of STAT’s prime years in particular. Although if you have 3 franchise guys you can easily add a team around them as Miami did last summer.
