…and it may be time to pay some respect to the man now. 2 straight Finals trips is certainly an accomplishment. I don’t like the man personally, and I don’t think he has a genuine bone in his body, but even if he doesn’t win this year I believe he has truly finally proven himself as one of the game’s all-time greats with his sixth Finals trip.

So, as hard as it may be, I am putting my personal feelings aside to pay respect to Mr. Bryant’s game.

That being said…I still hope the Lakers don’t win, and I still never want to hear any Jordan comparisons ever again.

I VERRY STRONGLY agree with you I personally don’t like his attitude to his fans. I also think he is fake person and is too cocky but he can play ball. He is such an amazing scorer but littlie over rated in his defense of side. I also think they won’t win a championship this year.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, but please correct me if I am wrong. I believe the divide over Kobe comes down to this:

Putting aside all his personal issues, which I find to be very off-putting to begin with, let’s just focus on his game:
    – Hands down, the man is one of the great 1-on-1 players to ever play in the league. Match him up against any other great 1/2/3 of any era in a 1-on-1 contest, and I think Kobe rises to the top as, possibly, the best ever. Certainly the top 3, right alongside Lebron and MJ. Simply put, I believe Kobe’s draw lies in his pure feel and talent for 1-on-1 basketball, which is on par with, and quite possibly exceeds, any other player to ever play the game.
    – However, the Kobe haters are the ones that see various flaws exposed in 5-on-5 basketball over 48 minutes a game, 82 games a season. For someone with his raw skill level, he should shoot a far better perecentage than he does, but he often opts for tough shots rather than taking it to the basket to create or make a pass, which almost certainly takes away from the rest of his team. His defensive intensity seems to come and go throughout a game and a season. He has never been a great rebounder for a guard his size. Kobe’s skill in the 1-on-1 game is almost too good, that he becomes far too reliant on this part of the game, and has never been forced to optimize his incredible natural talent for the 5-on-5 NBA game.

Bottom line: He’s a great player, but I think when some of us see him, we see a lot of misdirected talent. The raw product is as good as anyone who has ever played the game, but the finished product is just missing something that others like MJ, Magic, Bird, and even young Lebron all seem to have.

bluedevils, not a big fan of your “just because” arguments. Let me know if you ever have anything halfway coherent to post, and I’ll take a look. I’m not trying to blindly hate on the guy. I’ve stated my case and all you come back with is a bunch of ****’s and “kobe 2 real for that.”

I don’t hate Kobe Bryant at all, but i agree with the other post that said he is a bit misdirected at times. Kobe is a great offensive player but some of the shots he takes show poor judgement. With the game on the line ive seen him take 26 feet fadeaways and im just willing him to pass. I think at times he thinks he is unstoppable and to a certain degree i think he is. When Kobe gets aggressive he wont be passing so you can throw a double team at him and he still wont pass. He’s a great player but a little too greedy sometimes IMO.

Hes one of the greatest to ever do it 2nd greatest shooting guard ever he is unstoppable the shots he make are poor but they go in I mean I do wish he had a better passing game but he is just now coming to trust his teammates more because they have been stepping it up back then he’d make an open pass to them and they’d miss a wide open lay up. Kobe is great people can say he doesn’t do this and that we will see his passing game a lot more this year especially with Artest playing now.

What why would you be not like Kobe. Yeah he can be a little cocky but all players are a little cocky. That’s his game if he plays that way he plays that way. He is the best been the best will be the best.

critics see his success and say he don’t deserve the accolades (best ever is a laudy title)

    everybody has their critics,
Yeah I take my swipes at Kobe’s FG% but he’s one of the best in recent memory if not ever.

I’m sure any point guard would have love to team up with Kobe
its just that he gets paid so much;) every team would love to have him though

    go Hawks!
