Kyle Anderson

Kyle Anderson as of late has picked up his playing. I know everyone on this forum, including me, was skeptical of him as a prospect. He had a broken hand at the beginning of the year which probably contributed to his terrible start. But he just had his best game of the year with 20 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He has recently been really stuffing the stat sheet averaging 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in the last 4 games. As a team UCLA has also won it's last 4, granted it was against weak competition. But has your opinion changed about him? He is slated as the 17th pick in next years mock draft. Do you think he could be a first round pick this year? Or a lottery pick next year?

hes been playing great these

hes been playing great these last two weeks. The burins as a team went form all kinds of differnet rotations with 3 freshman and a transfer student and guys finding their roles to now seeming like they know what they are doing out there.

Kyle has been used a lot in the high post and middle of the zone. Once he gets the ball in the middle of the zone, he uses his height and passing IQ to pick apart the defense and make the right play. His confidence level is going up and up.

Shabazz has dropped 25 per in the last 3 games on 55% shooting looking like the potential number 1 pick he is.

Its been an easy schedule these last 4 wins with texas, prarie view, long beach and fresno but we will get a better idea of where they are at as a team next friday when they take on top 10 missouri.

Funny that’s where GTown was

Funny that’s where GTown was recruiting him to play and he refused because he thinks he’s a point guard….

Shabazz is going to be a hell

Shabazz is going to be a hell of a player when he's drafted #1 next season.

I think everyone has sort of been sleeping on Jordan Adams. The guy is dropping over 17PPG and his scoring hasn't dropped since Shabazz has came back. He was the first one to commit to UCLA and wasn't as highly touted as Kyle Anderson or Bazz but the dude is one hell of a player.

How good do you guys think he'll be in the L?

Adams has an old mans game,

Adams has an old mans game, his play style is alot like Mitch Ritchmond. Not sure how good he will be in the league as he is still fat for a guard and he plays a position where athleticism is a premium; looks like a 3 year guy to me

Jordan

Jordan has been my favorite player this year. He is a little puggy and unathletic, but since he plays an old school game it doesn't really matter. He is a hell of a shooter and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. On UCLA boards people have compared him to people as good as paul pierce, danny granger, and antoine walker. Those are all pretty loftyexpectations, but I do think he can be a starter in the NBA. He says he hopes to be a first round pick this year, but as a UCLA fan I hope he stays and averages 20+ as a sophmore next year when shabazz leaves.

I hope he stays and expands

I hope he stays and expands his game, I like his play style because he doesn't rely on athleticism which will only prolong his career like a Paul Pierce like you mentioned; if he stays 2 more years he could be one of the most polished offensive weapons in college; Michael Redd is another comparison to him if he continues to improve his already good perimeter game

Anderson's finding his niche

Anderson's finding his niche and is shooting the ball better. I think his wrist injury that he's had for a while bothered him more than he let on. He's also taking care of the ball better, finding areas on the floor that are less risky for him to operate from. Like, I noticed that when he over-penetrates he gets into trouble, but when he tries to make plays at the top of the key/high post area he makes better decisions.

People talk about how slow he is, which he is but there are some advantages to the pace he plays at. On his drives he never drives too fast to not make a pinpoint pass, he's always in a position to make a counter move, see plays develop or dish the rock off.

I can't ignore the competition though. UCLA's been playing cupcakes. Playing a string of scrub teams is a good way to find a rhythm before conference play starts. If Kyle carries his play over through conference play, then I might think about putting him back into 2013. I'd still like to see him stay one more yr and work on his body though. I'd like to see what difference a yr of college weight training and conditioning will do to his body.

I don't understand why it

I don't understand why it took him so long to get on a roll though, his nickname is "slow-mo" and he plays in a slow paced offense. Sounds like a match made in heaven right?

He was playing

He was playing injured...still is to a degree.

This UCLA doesn't really play at a slow pace. They're near top 25 in the country in scoring.

I see, we all know that their

I see, we all know that their traditionally a slow paced team which is why guys like Westbrook, collision, and holiday didn't put up big numbers; I guess they're allowed to run more

Howland teams were

Howland teams were traditionally better defensive teams. This UCLA team sucks defensively. The roster is filled with a bunch of poor individual defenders, so Howland had to tweak his strategy, letting them run more and try to outscore the opposition.

Kyle Anderson/Lamar Odom

Lamar Odom is a player I think is a perfect comparison for Kyle Anderson. The height, passing abilities, and ball handling skills all go together with Lamar Odom. Paul Pierce is a stretch unless Kyle can improve his outside shooting dramatically. I love Kyles game though and a along as he is drafted by a coach who understands his type of playing style he should do well in the league.

comparison

@Coby Karl I was comparing Adams to a poor man's pierce, not Anderson. But yah I've heard the lamar Odom comparison, although lamar is way more athletic. And to Yaboynyp Anderson is 6'9 with a 7'3 wingspan(possibly still growing). So his size is comparable to Lamar Odom who is 6'10/6'11 with a 7'4 wingspan.

jordan adams

"Jordan Adams" losing weight has helped him on defense, plus his defense hasn't worn his offense downat all!! He is still the most consistent complete player on the UCLA team. When they played away from home in Utah, and Colorado he didn't lose any confidence. "Shabazz looked a little unfocused in both of those games and didn't score high, but is still a very good player. Players like"Paul Pierce aren't super skinny, they just get it done like "Adams" This is not a fashion show.."Adams" passes, assist, rebounds, and is like the 4th or 5th highest scorer in pac-12. That's not an accident. That's a fact. "Oak Hill" Academy prepared him well..

"Jordan Adams" just saying

I'm just saying, if "Shabazz is going to be in any 2013 drafts then "Adams" his team mate definitely needs to be in it. His stat's are just as high or higher. "Bazz" is over rated but a good player, "Adams" is under rated but a fantastic, complete scorer. Both had to lose weight and both are working on defense. "Adams" is 5th in pac-12 in scoring, and 5th in 3pointers. Don't forget who was UCLA's 1st commit last summer, and don't forget that "Adams" has held the Bruins down when Shabazz wasn't there and hasn't fell off his game since "Bazz came aboard..Also, "Adams" played against real, serious competition at Oak Hill academy last year, but "Bazz" team last year at the prep school were not top notch, so he stood out. He isn't standing out very much now, because there are others in the country who are "True" I love both of these UCLA freshmen but both should be in the draft this year, "Just Saying" Don't sleep with the "hype" Jordan Adams is Legit!!!

What? Bishop Gorman was one

What? Bishop Gorman was one of the top teams in the nation last yr and played all over the country, with wins over top teams in the nation. They weren't as good as Oak Hill, but then again, BG is not a prep school that gets talent from all over the country. They also had legit talent on that squad with at least 7 high major recruits on the team.
I get it. You think Jordan Adams is under-appreciated, but you don't have to make stuff up to downplay Shabazz' accolades or competition.

OK Siggy!!

Calm down!! You are right, and I can admit if I'm wrong. However, I didn't downplay "Bazz" accolades just saying some other players like "Adams" Dominic Artis, and other players in the pac-12 and around the country need to be uplifted for their hard work as well. Also, I think I said that I LOVE both of these freshmen, and the rest of the entire UCLA team this year has been impressive. People need to recognize Kyle, and some other freshman too. It builds them up..Plus if you will notice I never said 1 was better than the other, I simply said both should go because of their stats..

1 thing I'm not going to do with you is continue this with you, because this can disrupt the flow of the teams chemistry, and I don't want their bond to be broken, it's more important that I apologize if I sounded like I was degrading him, I will choose my words a little more carefule. Again, I digress, because I love BOTH and it's my opinion that both should go because they are very talented!! THE END!!

Consistency "J Adams" ucla

Agreed!! When you start scoring, and have kept it up still, asays alot about a complete player like J Adams from UCLA. Now UCLA players are doing better, but he has been consistently good since the season started!!

jordan adams & Shabazz

My 2 favorite players (UCLA) Jordan Adams & Shabazz seem to be playing more, and more defense lately. I know that "Howland" loves defense. Still I hope that this does not affect their offense, that seems to have slipped slightly..These 2 players are very, very, very good offensively with raw talent. Keep your heads up!! "Adams" & "Bazz"
