Why could they not contend or possibly win the title for the next 2 years?

Because people are greedy and they won’t be able to keep both Ariza and Odom. Fish is getting older and you can never trust Bynum cuz that kid’s always getting hurt.

I don’t think greed has anything to do with it. Odom has said he would take a pay cut and Ariza nas never had a big contract before. Of course they are gonna look out for what is in their own best interests. I hope the Lakers keep Odom if they have to choose between the two. Also, Bynum came back this year and looked like he was alright. I’m gonna assume that at 21 and with a healthy off-season, he could come back strong. Fish is the only “old” guy on the roster and he can be replaced by Farmar.

Even if some of these things don’t work out for the Lakers, they still have Kobe who is in his prime and Gasol is still in his late 20’s. I’m not gauranteeing they will win 3 in a row, but the question was can they possibly win 3 in a row, and the answer is yes.

Sure its possible, I believe the Lakers keep both Odom and Ariza. However the NBA season is so long and brutal, the odds are not with them. Besides playing in the West is so much more difficult than playing in the East. All in all, their only real worry is obtaining someone to replace the aging Fisher, or atleast someone who can be productive enough to play against top competition in the West.

its hard 4 me becuz its one thing to be a CONTENDER for the title then next few years but its totally different to WIN the whole thing. i see a contender as jus making the playoffs and of course they could do that but to win a title 3 years in a row with the league getting better and better is a tough thing to do.

Most likely it won’t happen, back to back might happen but after 2010 teams will get a lot better. As for Odom taking a paycut I doubt he takes half the money to stay. Lakers are going to be pay crazy amount of luxury tax. Already trying to sell the pick or draft a foreign player & leave him their for now. Too bad they gave Bynum that big contract he’ll never live up to it. Usually guys don’t get better when they get past 30 Fisher, Odom, Kobe. If Rockets could ever stay healthy they could beat the Lakers.

i believe the dynasty has begun. lakers record next year 72-10. beats the celtics in game 6 of the nba 2010 finals due to them having the home court this time around. kobe gets 5th ring at 31. In 2011 lakers beat a new york knicks team lead by lebron james, chris bosh and steph curry. Kobe gets his 6th ring at 32. In 2012 a rematch of last years finals only this time kobe comes up short and passes the torch to lebron. Thats the begining of the end for kobe his game goes down from that point. Lebron then leads the knicks back to glory days winning the next 6 championships……
