Meditated StatesParticipantThat that team is not well put together. Championship talk with that roster was absurd from day 1.

kingofbumsParticipantBring back the….WHITE MAMBA. out of retirement like MJ did and carry this team all the way to the championships!
someone said brain scalibrine SMH…hes just a bench warmer…but the white mamba on the other hand….is a legend. he healed paul pierce’s knee that finals against the lakers just by touching it…he would definitely heal the team’s damaged ego right now.

Had a massive multi bet on yesterday and all they had to do is beat Utah at home (Utah win about 5 games away from home every year) and they cost me over $100! I’ll be hanging out for a signed jersey

HotSnotParticipantTo play more intense and make better decisions on the floor. The Lakers look Lazy most of the time.
Still havent seen D’Antoni’s system in action yet. Its been a watered down hybrid that is doing no one any favors up to this point. Lakers still don’t seem to play nice together on either side of the court.

aamir543ParticipantTo play defense for once, wins, intensity, any semblance of a defense, some more defense…………who am I kidding they need to name D’Antoni offensive coordinator and go bring in someone to coach defense.
The problem is that this is an older team that needs to play grind it out basketball, not run up and down the floor the whole game. They’re going to get absolutely gassed in the playoffs if they keep this up. I see no way they win more than 2 games in a 7 game series against a good team unless they learn to play their strengths, which is posting up Gasol and Dwight, running Pick and Rolls for Nash, and occasionally run the break whenever Nash feels it’s appropriate.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantI’m sorry for not posting much but I have a question and would really appreciate if someone would clarify.
The Lakers traded last years pick for Ramon sessions and according to NBA rules teams can’t trade back to back picks right? So the Lakers will have their own first rounder this year IF its a lottery pick? Otherwise Cleveland can swap picks with the lakers . either their own or Miami’s. Is this correct? So the Lakers have a first rounder this year?
Thanks
0- Posted on: Mon, 12/10/2012 - 7:45pm #732730
aamir543ParticipantYeah, you’re right, they have the Heat’s top 10 protected pick, the Kings’ top 13 protected, and their own. If the Lakers end up having a lotto pick, the pick is theirs to keep, however if it’s outside of the lottery, the Cavs can swap anyone of their first round picks with the Lakers, so yes the Lakers do have a first rounder, but it’ll almost certainly be the Heat, unless the unthinkable happens and they miss the playoffs(or they somehow end up with a better record)

sheltwon3ParticipantEverything people are saying about the Lakers were said about the Heat but they went to the NBA Final twice and won once.
0- Posted on: Mon, 12/10/2012 - 7:29pm #732724
kingofbumsParticipantthe only difference being that the heat were criticized throughout the season because of their lack of a ability to close out games. the lakers on the other hand have big defensive issues and with a offensive minded coach in d’antoni and a pg in nash…its not going to get better at all. no team has ever won a championship with a pure run and gun style.

HitsterParticipantThe Lakers are sending their first and 2nd rounder next year to Phoenix as part of the Nash trade, are these unprotected picks or not because as far as I can see they are.
As regards the Lakers, they need to re-establish their dominance in the paint by making best use of Dwight and using the roster instead of Kobe having to play hero ball. An interesting statistic I noticed is that in Laker wins this season Kobe averages only 22ppg but in defeats he averages 33ppg, so somehow a team is managing to lose games when the most proven winning scorer is more effective. I’d guess that Kobe is trying to salvage games but there must be some other factors to attribute to this,
As a Phoenix fan, Mike D’Antoni’s teams were great to watch but always came up just short and he could not spark the Knicks compared to how Mike Woodson has done when he got the FA’s in there. So I do wonder if his brand of basketball rather than his play off pedigree got him the Lakers job.
