A. StockPersonally, I Like Flynn A Lot More Than Lawson.

gberg23I wouldn’t say a lot but I do think he is better. I just want an opinion from both sides on two of the quickest guards in the nation.

stillmatic23bParticipantflynn is much better in the half court and doesn’t rely on his speed/fast breaks as much as lawson, i’d rather have flynn. poor man’s cp3..possibly homeless man’s cp3

B-EasyI don’t now Lawson looks like more NBA ready , and more true PG..all in all it’s amazing that those two PGs could be under top5 point guards, really strong PGs class

D HampParticipantIt’s not close. Flynn is the better point guard. He passes the ball first and only shoots when needed or with the game on the line. Flynn is also faster and quicker and has more stanima than Lawson and has more potential becaue he’s a sophomore. What will hurt his draft stock is his height. He’s listed at 6 feet. But he’s more about 5’10. A real gage will be when Syracuse meets North Carolina in the sweet 16.

ncballerBoth. I believe they are equal NBA prospects. Flynn is a better scorer, but Lawson is a more pure PG and better at taking care of the ball. Both are excellent finishers, about the same level shooters. Both leave their hearts on the court. I think they should both be late lottery picks. And I want to see them go head to head it would be a matchup of the ages.

wenichParticipantFlynn, I agree with the post of possibly a poor mans Chris Paul. Maynor is good but he’s just got too much of a ghetto jumper to even consider him over Flynn imo.

Jizzle74LMFAO what the hell is a ghetto jumper and how the hell do you get a ghetto jumper! But on a serious note flynn is alot better than lawson and will definately be the bette pro. he jus has to get stronger and whoever said that lawson’s shooting is about the same as johnny flynn is outta their minds. I mean neither are great shooters but lawson shooting is not close to flynn.

ncballerJizzle Lawson shoots 54% from the floor and 46.7% from the 3 point line. The notion that Lawson is not a good shooter is one of the biggest fallacy’s in college basketball. Flynn in contrast shoots 45.6% from the floor and 31.6% from 3. Now I am not an idiot I know Flynn shoots 13 shots a game while Lawson shoots 9 shots a game. Lawson IMHO is a smarter player and shoots smarter shots he averages 2 points less then Flynn on 4 less shots. His A:T ratio is much better than Flynns. Again that might be because Flynn is asked to score more and be more selfish then Lawson. Then you watch UNC get beat by an average FSU team without Lawson and it is completely evident that UNC is about a 6-9 seed without Lawson. He is what makes them elite. I love Flynn too, he is relentless he refuses to let Syracuse lose is just as athletic as Lawson (although I have never seen anyone as quick end to end as Lawson), his length is better than Lawsons so that means his ability to finish at the next level is better than Lawson’s. Again I stick with the notion they are equal prospects at the next level.

Jizzle74yes lawsons percentages may look alot better but jus like you said flynn has to be more selfish syracuse doesnt have a tyler hansborugh down low or a wayne elligton and danny green type of shooter outside. And lawson shoots such a high percentage of 2 pointers because most of them are layups! they have many more fastbreaks than syracuse and most of them end in a lawson layup so that percentage can be very misleading. As far as the three pointers like i said before johnny flynn does have tyler so he isnt shooting mostly wide open treys he is shooting them highly contested. I guarantee when they both make it to the nba flynn will be twice the player that lawson is. Flynn can actually run a half court set when lawson cant do it to save his life which is the only reason he wont be a high lottery pick. although i will say one thing lawson is a good finisher in the lane for a pg with a underaverage wingspan. So no they will not be equal prospects on the next level flynn is athletic as they come with everything but size and a consistent jumpshot

diecity boyParticipantIf I had to take one it would be Flynn. I dont think Lawson will be that good on the next. His just shot is suspect and he will not be able to get in the lane and finish like that on the next level. But I would def take Eric Maynor over both of them. Maynor has a more complete game than both of them and he looks to be NBA ready. Where did “ghetto jump shot” come from wenich, you must not be a ball player b/c who says that but non athletes. If it goes through the hoop who cares what it looks like!

illinifan8ParticipantI would take Flynn over Lawson and I don’t know if I would put Eric Maynor in the same category cause personally I would put Flynn and Lawson in pg/sg crossovers and Maynor in pure point guard category but if Maynor was in the category i would take him also over both of them. Whats up with the “ghetto jumper” just cause his shoot may look unorthodox doesn’t mean its “ghetto” and if a NBA team sees true potential in him then they will deal with his shot and fix it if it needs to be fixed. For a team team like Denver who has Chauncey Billups who is coming towards the end of his career could draft someone like Maynor and work him in to the job and he also has the scoring ability to take some of the load off of Carmelo Anthony or for Dallas with Jason Kidd who is also at the end of his career could work Maynor in and also player SG why Kidd is still there.

wenichParticipantFirst of all I live in New York and have played ball my whole life that is why I know exactly what a “ghetto Jump shot” is, but this isn’t about me it’s about Eric Maynors slow ass, crooked jumper that is as ghetto as it gets. “If it goes through the hoop who cares what it looks like!” If you can’t get your shot off at the next level it ain’t going through the hoop! I agree with you Illini that they will work to correct his mechanics but for now his jumper is broke.

billykParticipantI would take Curry over all three of them

diecity boyParticipantFirst of all who cares where u live! And “ghetto jumper” Wenich please you prolly never picked up a ball in your life and if u did u didnt get very far with the game. But anyway like I said he seem to get it off whenever he wants to and he needs to and I bet you his “slow ass” would fry ur ass on the court any day buddy!

jorrye24Ive always said Flynn is like Chris Paul…I think he will produce at the same level. Be an allstar point guard and whatnot. He is everything a team should want in a point guard, except he isnt a lockdown defender.SOOOO…I think its a runaway that Flynn is the best point guard in the country and will be a top 5 Point guard in the NBA when he declares

D HampParticipantFlynn is a lockdown defender. It’s just hidden in the 2-3 zone. He and Darren Colison are the best defending point guards in college basketball.
