I think it is clear Kobe is the better scorer and defender (when he puts in the effort), but LeBron is probably all around better because his vsision, passing, rebounding and how he elevates the play of his team with his leadership. If you need one player for one game you have to take Kobe because he will drop you for 60 but for a whole season or for a rebuilding team you have to take the guy who is most comfortable with his teammates and rises the level of their play. Any other thoughts? Oh and do any of you see a player entering the draf this or next year comparable to either Kobe or LeBron?
Most NBA players like to play with LeBron better cuz he always looking for his teammates.
Kobe is not really selfish but he often takes too many contested heroic shots and forget about distributing the ball
I would love to play with both but I think playing with Lebron would be more fun.
that article about sums it up...
Yea it really does..
lebron . .
no ones like kobe . .
blake griffin is sorta like lebron . .
My post was not a knock of Kobe but they are two different types of players. One is a great scored and the other is a playmaker all purpose type.
I already know you are a Kobe hater, so for you to bring a Hollinger article into the discussion is predictable. Hollinger is a well established Kobe hater. He not only said that Kobe should not be considered one of the top 4 players in this years MVP voting, but that not a single ballot should include Kobe in the top 4. When a Kobe fan called him out in a recent interview saying if he thought Lebron could win the MVP, but Kobe would win the Finals MVP to show the world he was still the best, Hollinger, instead of taking the high road and giving both guys their due credit, he acted like a total fan boy and said it would be about time Kobe did something in the finals since he has been terrible the first 5 times he got there. It just shows how biased he is.
I do think Kobe is overrated.
I don't get what you are looking for though. I thought the article did a good job of presenting both sides of the case. The numbers tend to (significantly) favor Lebron. Don't be angry at the numbers that Mr. Hollinger presents. It's like saying that scorekeepers hate on Kobe.
He's certainly one of the best in the game...just not the best...
I have no doubt that Lebron deserved the mvp this year and will be the greatest player to ever play the game when it is all said and done. But when I hear Hollinger say that not only does he think that Kobe is not one of the top 4 players in the league, but that any human with a vote who puts Kobe in their top 4 is a complete idiot, then I'm gonna take offense to that. Kobe haters love to point out stats that prove how shi.tty Kobe is. Try watching an actual game and seeing how much he does on the court befor you clarify him as being overrated because the stats say so.
I thought Kobe was the third best player on the Olympic team last year, and the third or fourth best player in the league this year...depending on how you feel about Dwight Howard. Sorry, if you don't want the stats, then I guess I can just give you my opinions?
Kobe's a very good player, indeed, maybe even one of the all-time greats, but I can't honestly say I've ever considered him the best player in the league. Perhaps the most talented, at one time or the other, but never the first player I would take on my team.
I think the stats back that up, but we'll disregard those for now.
I Kobe-hate as much as anyone, but if the Lakers win the Finals this year, I promise I will give the self-titled Black Mamba his due recognition!
Kobe knew that he was a leader of the olympic team and decided to focus on defense and being a leader. But say what you want about how well guys like Wade, Lebron, and Paul played, when the gold medal game was on the line, they all stood back and watched Kobe take the big shots, and as usual, he hit them. Of course they did'nt come in the last 5 seconds, so according to your stats, he sucks and they don't count as being clutch,
Lebron and D-Wade had just as many big plays down the stretch as Kobe...it just happens that those were Kobe's only big plays. Kobe also let Rudy Fernandez blow by him for that huge dunk, and forced up a couple bad shots down the stretch, but we won't count those against him.
Regardless, I think he was the third-best player on that team.
wasn't about who was the third or fourth best player. My comment was about how Kobe took the big shots with Gold on the line while his teamates sat in awe. There is no disputing that.
...there is some disputing that, actually, I already did dispute that. Go back and watch the game again.
Whatever...you say he's the best, I say he's not. If you want to think he's "super-clutch" then go ahead. I don't really care all that much. I'm done posting on the subject.
if Kobe didnt get to take the big shots he might have demanded a trade to another country, so Lebron and D-Wade had no choice...lol
Kobe sucks !!!!!!!!!!!
The Lakers will no wayy win a championship, and we Clippers will go to Staples Center to boo them !!!!
for one..anything a clipper fan says downtalking the lakers makes no sense 2nd the writers and fans can saw all they want about kobe being overrated but to find out a tru players worth you just ask there peers that play against them and that right there will tell you how good they really are. so the writers and us fans can say hes overrated all we want but i bet you wont hear that from the players in the nba
