I’m watching the Bulls vs Heat game as we speak & I couldn’t help but to wonder how LeBron would have meshed with Rose, Noah, Boozer, & Deng. I believe he would have a better chance to contend for a title run every year, then he would with Wade & Bosh. The thing that I question is did he not want to go to Chicago, because he would have to live up to the MJ comparisons & take as much criticism then he is right now if he did not win any championships. I’m just trying to puzzle everything together as to why he would not choose Chicago.

I would take this line up Rose James Deng Boozer Noah over Bibby Wade James Bosh Ilgauskas

i think true superstar (not just all-star) free agents will be dissuaded from going to chicago due to mike’s legacy. No matter what they do, they will always be in mikes shadow.

if i remember correctly the bulls only had room for 1 signing. so if Lebron goes there, theres no boozer and thats suddenly a much weaker team of Rose, Bogans, LeBron/Deng, Gibson and Noah

     There’s a story on Hoopsworld talking about Wade and if he regrets not going home to Chicago;
They said Chi-Town would’ve had room to sign Boozer and another player i.e. LeBron or Wade.
They just use the rest of that money to get Bogans, Korver, etc.

I really don’t think DRose is a selfish player at all. I believe he would do anything in his power to win a ‘ship if LeBron was there even if it meant to sacrafice his scoring for the team just to get the win. In all actuality DRose is a pass first PG who happens to be able to score well. He scores because they do not have a "true" threat on offense to penetrate the D. DRose=Total Package

Would DRose have had a lesser scorers mentality with LeBron there?

This is & was & alway’s will be DRose Team. He never wanted Bron or Wade, that’s why his text to Bron over the summer was important to the make up of this young Man. His response to LBJ was "Come here if you want but if not we’re going to kick you a$#. Joe Johnson is the type of player DRose wanted, but anyway he DRose is the SuperStar of that team & would rather play as the under dog rather than be on a Stacked Team.

Personally, I’m glad LeBron didn’t come to Chicago. I’d much rather see Rose carry his own team and compete against LeBron… You know… Like the good old days.

It always interests me if a superstar PG alongside another Franchise player makes a team more effective than having two superstars or more who play off the ball and would a scorer become more prolific with a top PG alongside them and which sort of combo brings a team more success.

Kidd didn’t make Carter anymore prolific when he played alongside him

STAT has been as prolific minus Nash as he was under him.

LeBron is more a ball handler than a D-Wade/Melo type player so I don’t think he would have gelled as well with D-Rose or you would have had to share possessions and having LeBron play off the ball more would spread the floor.

I was just thinking when did a real superstar PG lead a team to an NBA title in recent years, it could be as far back as the Showtime era with Magic Johnson or Detroit with Isiah Thomas. Stockton,Kidd etc always came up short and Nash has never made an NBA final. There have been All Star PG’s like Billups and Tony Parker whose teams have won titles in recent years but they were not their team’s main man.

it was Zeke in 89′ the last time a Star PG won a Chip. I think it could happen this year. I always think about how to structure a team when trying to build a contender. just imagine if DHoward had a SStar PG. I think you need @least 1 other guy that can create. Plus 3 point shooters when PG break down defenses.

D-Rose is probably the guy most likely of any PG’s to carry a team to a final this year. Rondo is an all star but he’s got 20,000 point club to back him up and a very deep bench.

I don’t think coming to Chicago had anything to do with MJ. These guys are under tons of pressure every night and most of these guys grew up wanting to be and play like MJ. You can watch how Wade (used) to play and watch Kobe and those guys are like MJ replicas. Not as good as the real thing, but still good. I think Lebron knew that going to Chicago would mean having to keep his ego in check. I see Noah as a pretty laid back guy, but I think if Lebron was jacking around then Noah would let him hear it. I also think Thibs wouldn’t let Lebron get away with the same things he does in Miami. In Chicago it’s all about team. Rose has been spectacular all year long, but it has been a total team effort. Lebron has to feel stupid every time they beat him though.

As far as Lebron and Rose, I think they could have played together. Rose not only has a much improved jump shot, but he can play without the ball. How many other point guards do you ever see on the receiving end of a lob? If Chicago had landed two max players, then they would have been gathering a bunch of guys for the minimum, but I think with already having Rose, Deng, Noah, Gibson,Asik and even James Johnson at the time that they would have been in far better shape than with how Miami’s bench and supporting cast turned out. Even with how things turned out they did a great job of filling out the roster with what they had left. The worst signing of the bunch was probably Boozer (injury prone, defensive liability), but that was likely the best guy they were going to get there at that position and they had to sign somebody with Noah’s extension coming and Rose’s looming.

Parker was the last star PG to win a championship as the main piece.  TP was Finals MVP in 2007.

I don’t know what that has to do with superstars wanting to beat other superstars instead of joining them…

Parker wasn’t a main piece on that team. No one on the Cavs could guard him. That’s all… Thibodeau has done a great job with this team in making them play great D because outside of Rose, they’re not great offensively. I think he should be given just as much credit as Rose for this team’s success.

When tons of teams had players that you were excited about. I lived in Chicago & was a Portland Fan when Drexler&Jordan were in the Finals. They (Portland) were stacked but not with 3 superstars but a great team that had the never aging CliffRobinson(i think he played until he was 55) but still Bulls were not guranteed a Chip just because they won 6 in 8 yrs, They had a great system, the Best Winner since BRussel (MJ an insane desire to win/compete his best # are 6-0) the greatest rebounder in NBA,Greatest Help Defender. But still there were @ least 4-6 teams that could have beat the Bulls in the 90’s for a Ring, but like i said MJ was just too good. He promised a victory in Game 7 over a Loaded Pacers team.
