It's going to be a long season for Kentucky if Ryan harrow can't play point effectively. I mean seriously 2 assists and 0 points? Point guard play is the engine that runs coach cals system. UK really needs a playmaker to make things easier for everyone else as they don't have a guy that can create his own shot effectively yet. Kentucky can't keep playing close games every night if they want to repeat; sooner or later Archie Goodwin may have to play point if Ryan doesn't improve. On another note Willie Cauley is a freak athlete,I mean the way he played and ran the floor like a deer was very Javale esque, time to start putting him in the first round based of his potential and thleticism
Not at all, they just had mental lapses, they were kicking Marylands ass bad at one point, wait until they get to mid season form, they are going to be a nightmare.
Not to mention did anyone see Jarrod Polson??
He looked great running the point, he might be the first player at UK to force Cal into an 8 man rotation.
Harrow got hyped for no reason other than because he plays for Kentucky, but I'll give him a mulligan for this game. He supposedly had "flu-like symptoms" coming into tonight.
Polson has been playing against pro's everyday for two years, i'd expect him to perform when he's called on.
I agree about Harrow big time.
I'm only to halftime because I started watching the game late, but I really like this team so far. Polson is probably one of my favorite players on the team. He's definitely not what we're used to seeing from a Calipari point guard, but I think he should get some good minutes this year.
As a UK fan I'm concerned most with how bad we got killed on the boards, granted Len is a beast, but still, it was team thing. A lot of people will look at Noel and Willie for getting killed on the boards, but Maryland's players were just getting to the ball quicker than anyone on UK, the whole team needs to get better at fighting for rebounds and not just thinking it will come their way.
kentucky had gold last year and they have fools gold this year. this was maryland!!!!! alex len dominated noel and will cauley-stein. and they dominated kentucky on the boards. kentucky was lucky to win. amryland is not a top team in the acc. what do you think will happen when they play duke? coach k is licking his lips and grinning after watching this game. they will get destroyed by duke. i guarante it. i bet they won't win the sec. they were uncordinated and looked awful tonite. they should have dominated maryland. i watched the whole game. maryland made a lot of mistakes in the first half and kentucky colapsed in the second half. archie goodwin was gunning and out of control most of the game. for a team who had a recruiting class ranked so high they looked bad, real bad. you guys can hate me all you want. its all true. there gonna struggle big time this year.
no biased the truth hurts.
@ChrisCross Exactly. We're so young and inexperienced that there will be times in almost every game when we get beat on the boards and hustle plays and stuff like that, but we're so talented that we'll be able to go on runs and stay in the game. This team showed a lot of leadership though, even from guys like Julius Mays. We might not be as good as we were last year, but I really like this team
""On another note Willie Cauley is a freak athlete,I mean the way he played and ran the floor like a deer was very Javale esque, time to start putting him in the first round based of his potential and athleticism""
he plays for Cal after all
UK is the only team in D1 basketball that doesn't have a returning starter. I wouldn't jump to conclusions so early in the season.
I don't think they'll be a Top 5 team but by midseason they could be in contention because the title is pretty much a tossup between 8-10 teams.
^ I would be perfectly fine with that, akhan
Ry had the Flu come on guys
