I wonder what they were saying?

Barea: "What do you expect? I like to shoot"

    Love: "You’re not Rubio!"

    Barea: "You’re not Dirk!"

Love: "SAY WHAT? Them’s fighting words!"

I think once Klove says "you’re not Rubio" Barea responds with "hell naw foo, I’m DRose"

For the love of god Barea is the worst PG I’ve ever seen. He’s a 5’9 SG who isnt very good at shooting. He doesnt pass the ball, I consider 80% of his shots turnovers, because all they do are lead to run outs because nobody on offense is set or in place yet.

Barea is either really good or really bad. There is no inbetween. I think he decides what he is going to do before every posession and most of the time that decision is to drive wildly into the lane and throw up some crazy off balance shot. Some games those go in more often than not, but most games he is a turnover machine.

im convinced that no barea, no championship last year for the mavs. this guy was an absolute BEAST in the playoffs. chalmers and fisher are still looking for him.  i love barea’s attitude, tho it makes him imo nothing more than a spark off the bench, instant offense the little dude packs, at least when he’s feeling it.

i haven’t seen much of him this year, but last year he showed a pretty damn good p&r game with chandler, where he would chuck 3s if you gave him any space (by goin under the screens) with an accurate quick realease. while also using his firt step to burn his man and draw double teams leading to handoff passes to open man for the assist.

he was playing so good in the finals carlisle actually started kidd, and barea together in the back-court against the heat after game 3 i think

Never a good look for fans to see that from their team. Seems there’s no beef though…

    James Ham, for NBA.com

"Love and reserve guard Jose Barea got into a brief shouting match on the bench late in the game. Minnesota, which is losing ground in trying to secure a berth in the Western Conference playoffs, is 1-3 on a seven-game road trip that concludes Friday in Oklahoma City.

"It’s frustrating, but nothing personal against JJ," said Love, who made just 7-of-20 shots. "I think we were both frustrated and took it out on each other when we should have took it out on the other team. So both of us made mistakes and both of us feel bad."

If you watch Wayne he’s not really defending Love, by restraining Barea @ all. Being that Ellington and Barea both enjoy shooting. I’m thinking Love shot (7-20) and gets to play and both Jose and Wayne are on the bench wishing they had the green light that contributed to the loss to SAC.

I’m not gr8 at reading lips but it looks like Barea probly insults Love in the last scene on the bench. and by Ellington’s quick response and facial expression it looks like he agrees by saying "i know" or that’s true. Then at the end Klove looks down @ the end, like in his mind he knows he was in the wrong and he’s thinking about his efficiency. *i’m probly trying to read into it way more than i probably should, but this is what you do monday mornings w/out sumthing2do.

Future Scout: Your memory of Barea in the playoffs last year is mainly based on the series against the Lakers. Barea had a good playoff performance overall last year, but if take out the Laker games he was only kind of so so. Now that isn’t to say he was bad and you don’t really expect your second guard off the bench to be a great player. And he did have his moments even in the Heat series. However, the thing that really stands out in our mind is the Laker series where he just lit them up. You have to keep in mind that he was lighting up Derek Fisher and Steve Blake. Then in the Heat series, Mike Bibby was getting serious run until the final game and he was also being vicitmized. I think Carlisle started Barea so he could get more time against Bibby who was also starting for most of the series. Mario Chalmers isn’t fantastic either, so none of the Heat PGs could exploit Barea’s defensive limitations. Basically in two consecutive high stakes playoff games, the opposing teams were playing guys (Fisher and Bibby) who frankly I’m not sure would start on a good Division III college basketball team.

@Tallman; Barea did more that just light up Fisher and Blake, he was a very important part of getting the Mavs past OKC too. There were stretches were he just took over, and Westbrook couldn’t do anything about him. He also played surprisingly good D against Harden in spot minutes at the 2. Played him real close and made it difficult for James to get a rhythm.

I didn’t even watch more than 1 game of the Mavs-Lakers series and still came out of the playoffs thinking he was one of their most important pieces.

Barrea goes particularly well with Rubio and particularly poorly with Ridnour.  Simple enough.

Barea is a shoot first point guard, while Rubio is a pass first.

That was the joke of my guessed caption lol. I think you missed it.

I hated the fact that the wolves signed Barea last summer in the first place. He clearly wasn’t going to be the answer at SG and Ridnour is clearly the better PG and spot up shooter. Ellington actually has played SG much more effectively than Barea this year in his limited time, I wish he got more playing time… The wolves haven’t played well since Rubio went down, did he really have such an impact? He wasn’t a great shooter but it seems he was the starter motor per se of the offense….

Johnny Chill! You changed your photo bro! Old one was definitely better.

Also, I really didn’t like the Barea signing either, it works somewhat with Rubio, but it’s a disaster while he’s out, he just doesn’t fit the rotation.

Hmm, I watched more of the Laker and Heat series than the OKC (just missed a bunch of those games for whaterver reason). So that is what I remember. I guess I missed the first OKC game where he dropped 21 points. I’m not sure if he did that much from then on, but if he was doing it with defense, especially against Harden, that would be impressive. And after the first game, he did score 36 points over the next four games, while dishing 14 assists. That is a respectable 9 points and 3.5 assists a game. Not bad for the second guard off the bench. But that first game looks like total domination looking at the boxscore.
