Luis Scola has been amnestied by the houston rockets according to Adrian Woj… Of Yahoo Sports. He had 3 years and 21 million left on his contract. The rockets appear to be clearing even more space to sign Dwight and perhaps a magic bad contract as well. Better yet Morey finally got rid of a forward. Does Dallas jump in and try to get Scola now through the amnesty wire? He’s still a serviceable player on a reasonable contract

Great news for the Rockets, one less power forward on the roster. I think scbe2223 could be right about them getting more caproom to attempt to sign D12 and absorb a Hedo or J Rich type contract. Not a bad move on Morey’s part, now he just needs to get rid of or trade 2 more 4’s…

My thoughts exactly. Scola is good, but the Rockets have Marcus Morris, Terrence Jones, Royce White, and Patrick Patterson at power forward as well…granted I may be missing someone, but between those three the longest NBA tenure is 3 years…its crazy to continue stock piling players at the same position (looking at you 76ers with all your small forwards).

Whats going to happen is Dwight will be a Rocket with Magic players. The Rockets will trade all their young assets for Dwight, Hedo, and Jrich, and it will just be Orlando but in Houston. Then Dwight will leave.

I always thought Scola was so underrated. With all these teams overpaying like there is no tomorrow I am very surprised they couldn’t dump him to a team for a draft pick or 2.

I really hope that Bynum goes to the Houston, Dwight to LA, and all the pieces to Orlando. I just don’t think Dwight stays in Houston long term and Bynum has already said he likes Houston. If Dwight will stay in Houston then it’s great, but I just dont want the Rockets to get screwed.

I wish OKC could pick up Scola. He would give them some post scoring and is a good defender and rebounder. Well he at least tries. Good at drawing charges. Scola could be a good player almost anywhere. I think he would be better in a role where he can play like 25min a game and score like 12 a game.

I’m glad.  He was a good player for us but that death-pill of a contract was unbelievably terrible.

He is only making 7 million per year. Brook Lopez and Hibbert will now be making more than double of what Scola makes. He doesn’t block many shots, but he plays solid defense and gets around 14ppg as well while being able to slide over and play Center at times. 2 years ago he averaged 18 and 8 and 14 and 6 last year. No idea why you think that is a death-pill terrible contract at only 7 million per year.

He’s 32 years old and just came off his worst season in the last 3 years.  It’s all downhill from here and if we didn’t cut him we’d be paying him 9mil at the age of 33.  10mil at the age of 34.  11mil at the age of 35.

        He’s not exactly Kevin Garnett.

Not to mention, he already have Motiejunas coming over and Patrick Patterson ready to start at PF.

        actually…

he’ll be making over 9 million this season, over 10 next, and a bit over 11 the following year. its no max contract but more than a few millions over the MLE. not really that terrible of a deal cause of his production, but with the current CBA, not also one you would like a non-core member of your team you would like to have.

Im very curious where he would end up and i dont think he’ll clear waivers. think someone out there will be fine in paying him 3 to 4 million a season for the next three years with the productivity he brings on the court. sure he’s 32 years old, but his game isnt really something that gets affected by loosing speed. smart offensive player who uses what he has to the best of his capabilities. think both charlote and cleveland could use a player like him with neither getting a lot of post offense. however im sure his agent will try to convince some veteran team to believe that he’s the missing piece for them to take the next step.

any thoughts on where he could land or where you would like him to end up in?

I like how the Rockets are being aggressive in their attempts to get out of no-mans-land where they were good enough to not get good picks but just bad enough to not make the playoffs. Good for them to try to make themselves better instead of waiting.

They still need something else besides pfs though….

He would be a great pickup for Brooklyn because they aren’t gonna bring back Humphries, I dont think they can bid on him though and I don’t think amnestied players can be signed and traded once they are claimed.

The Bobcats badly need a starting PF, he could play a large role there and maybe teach some post moves to Biyombo. I could see him going to the 76ers, maybe the Warriors because Bogut’s health can be an issue sometimes or maybe the Suns to give them a front line of Beasley Scola and Gortat?

actually, they’re in a bidding match with Charlote for Humphries’ services since he’s an unrestricted free agent. think charlote is offering 24 mill in 3 years as compared to the nets’ offer of 22 in the same ammount of time. however, just read in twitter that the nets are in the lead for his services. heres the tweet:

      daldridgetnt profile

daldridgetnt League sources believe that, eventually, Kris Humphries is likely to return to the Nets rather than go to Charlotte. No other teams involved

I thought it was 21 mill for 3 yrs either way its hardly a death pill of a contract.

Thats a fair contract anyway yeah going to a team like the Mavs makes sense he’d come off the bench behind Dirk.

Marion,Scola, Dirk, Kaman not a bad front court too bad the back court is awful.

The Bobcats would be a good fit but do they want to get better that much quicker. Also there is a rumour that Jamison wants to play there so they could maybe get him for less.

If a contender came in for him then say Boston might look at his scoring and make a run also Indiana who only have David West on a one year deal and as a total wildcard Denver don’t have a lot of frontcourt experience.
