     Hey guys, remember me?

I’ve been busy out of my mind in my first year of college and work.

Anyway, back to basketball, Can someone tell me why Maalik Wayns isnt higher on draft boards?

He was my pre-season breakout player, i pictured him having a Jonny Flynn/Kemba Walker type of season, and while his numbers improved..he didnt rise to where i thought he wouldve. But i still view him as a first round talent, atleast late first-early second..but most drafts boards have him in the 50s to undrafted. And as i’ve mentioned, due to my busy schedule…I havent gotten to watch Villanova as much as i wouldve liked, but i still think Maalik Wayns is an NBA player.

So, my question to you is…why isnt Maalik Wayns higher on draft boards?

What up MagikKnick! We missed you and your GIFs/comments. Welcome back brotha! Whats your career/job that kept you so busy?

Anyways, I think Maalik Wayns slip may have been due to a poor season by Nova, mixed with some inconsistent play and lingering injuries. With that being said, I still agree with you and view him as a late first rounder/early second. I still think he’ll be a steal for a team looking for a PG who can be a sparkplug off the bench. If his shot gets better and he works on finishing around the rim, he might be one of those players GM regret not picking up earlier.

he didnt show the decision making ability to be highly thought of as a point guard at the next level. He shows the ability to create shots for himself but played out of control at times. Only shot 41 percent from the field and under 30 from three. He is quick but hes only 6’2 so unless he learns how to play more under control and improves his jumpshot i think his draft position is about right where it should be

If inefficient, volume scoring point guards were desirable, then Maalik Wayns would be higher (or in some cases, have a spot) on mock drafts. Unfortunately for Wayns and other point guards like J’Covan Brown and Tu Holloway, inefficient shoot first point guards without great athleticism aren’t viewed highly by NBA teams.

I guarantee he will be a late first round pick…he wouldn’t have left Nova if he and Jay Wright weren’t sure of him being viewed as first round talent.  He’s a mix of Kyle Lowry driving/taking contact skills and nate robinson decision skills(aka dicey at best)

a good playoff team will take him…are you guys kidding me? I remember at the beginning of the year this site had him going possibly in the lottery

No nate Robinson in him. Nate is one of the best athletes in the league.Waynes is not even the top athlete on his team.He is very very good though.

I said Nate Robinson’s decision skills, not his athleticism @NYBALLA718 All I was tryin to say is that he needs to work on his decision making at the next level in order to be a quality PG off the bench. He definietly knows how to score, but he needs to figure out how to cut down on his to’s and make players around him better
