I have often stated my personal opinion that in my mind the divide between Jordan and Magic is very small.  Jordan…the greatest, but as far as uniqueness and ability to dominate a game with versatility, there has never been anyone even close to Magic.  It became routinely common after a while to compare any guy who was over 6’5" with ball handling ability to Magic.  In this thread I want you guys to name some of the players you remember as being hailed as the next Magic Johnson.  Here are some I remember.

Walt Williams

Marcus Liberty

Shawn Livingston (one of the few comparisons who is true PG)

Lamar Odom (probably the closest thing to Magic in terms of versatility, but huge gap in ability)

Walter "Dinky" Proctor (remember him?)

Tim Thomas

Jalen Rose (a pretty good college PG)

Grant Hill

LeBron James

Billy Owens (a lot of Magic hype surrounding this one)

Penny Hardaway
