MUbballfanParticipantConsensus top 20 player. Looks like Kentucky is getting him. California is only other competition. Third straight week a recruit(s) would have chosen UK if he does pick them.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantDoes Cal still have Cap room to sign him? I thought they went over after they signed James young

providencefriars1ParticipantIf Lee doesnt choose UK, which I think he will, UK is down to Tony Trocha and the Julius Randle sweepstakes. Trocha is a first tier athlete with a really raw game and Randle obviously is a dominant big but UK has steep competition for his services.

SiggyParticipantI think he picks UK.
I actually like this kid more than Chris Walker. I think if he picked up the game earlier (he’s a volleyball player) he would’ve been ranked in the top 10 by now. This kid is a quick study with natural shotblocking instincts, soft touch and decent passing ability.

F_S mockim gonna need to watch a game of him… but i don’t think he can end up as good as walker, walker can end up the best PF outta that class. he shows some serious potential

SiggyParticipantWalker has a ton of potential given his level of athleticism, but the more I watch him play and read/hear some of the things he says, the less I like him as a prospect. He sounds like another one of those 6’10 freaks who thinks he should be playing SF and isn’t as skilled as he thinks he is. He reminds me of Tyrus Thomas in a lot of ways. He’s very raw and needs to put in a lot of work on his body, but he wants to be another 1 and done player. Lee has tremendous physical tools as well, but he’s picking up things really quickly and is actually trying to play like a big. I favor his shot-blocking ability more than anything Walker’s good at at this stage.

F_S mocki think chris walker plays like a PF more than julius randle, aaron gordon, and nerlens noel. he’s not hovering around the perimeter in games. he likes the paint and doesn’t mind banging, he reads open lanes and attacks, and is good on the P&R… and lets not underrated chris walker’s ability to block shots.. the kid has some timing in him and has an insane quick jump

SiggyParticipantHe actually does gravitate to the perimeter and tries to show off his supposed ball skills and perimeter shooting ability. he even describes himself as an inside/outside threat, capable of making 3’s. He’s not a back to the basket post player. He’s a raw run and jump athlete, who isn’t particualrly good at anything else outside of the aspects of basketball that are based on running and jumping.

ipowersParticipantSiggy is absolutely correct. Walker is a run and jump athlete with very limited skills. He doesn’t have a back to the basket game, he thinks he’s a 3 but he shoots an ugly set shot that is inconsistent at best. Lee is the same type of athlete who just started really focusing on basketball over the last few months and he’s still ranked in the top 20. He is one of the more naturally gifted players in the class and his best basketball is ahead of him.

OfficialMikeyVthaDon: “Also saw an ‘ipowers’ write that he felt Marcus Lee was the best pro prospect in the Class of 2013. Guessing that this is Ian Powers, who is obviously a major proponent for Lee and probably one of the reasons he is rated #5 in the NBADraft.net 2013 HS rankings (which are based on NBA potential). I have not seen enough of Lee to comment, but this was the quote:
‘Marcus Lee is the best pro prospect in the class. As good as Jabari is, he is close to hitting his ceiling. Lee hasn’t even begun to scratch the surface.’
.
I cant take someone seriously when they think Marcus Lee is on Jabari Parker’s level.0- Posted on: Mon, 12/03/2012 - 3:54pm #731461
ipowersParticipantOfficial, you tend to think you know more about the game than you actually do. Yes, Jabari is a better player right now. In 5 years Lee will be the better player. Jabari is close to maxing out as a player and Lee is nowhere near close to maxing out. This is a kid who hasn’t been eating and sleeping basketball all of his life like Jabari and he will probably be a McDonald’s All American. Numerous college coaches have told me ” this kid has a chance to be special”. Oh and read this since he’s not a great athlete.

OfficialAlright man we’ll wait and see, im going to favorite this thread…
You had a case for Lee > Walker/Randle… but If you think Lee will better than Jabari Idk what to tell you other than let time prove you wrong.
You’re are doubting Jabari to get much better? A that has his head right were it needs to be.0- Posted on: Mon, 12/03/2012 - 6:52pm #731481
ipowersParticipantIt don’t have shit to do with his head. Jabari is a great kid from a great family. The problem is that he is not an ellite athlete nor does he have elite quickness to break people down off the bounce.

OfficialMarcus Lee is not the same type of athlete Chris Walker is…. I don’t know what you’re seeing.
You could’ve said the same thing about Nerlens Noel: ‘a run and jump athlete with very limited skills.’
Chris Walkers best basketball is also ahead of him, because he is a HS prospect.0- Posted on: Mon, 12/03/2012 - 3:41pm #731454
ipowersParticipantWatch this and tell me if he’s not the same level of athlete that Chris Walker is. Walker is a run and jump athlete who has nowhere close to the feel for the game that Lee has.

OfficialYou can clearly see Lee he used his teammate to pump himself up mid air.
There is no way Lee will ever on Walker’s level athletically. Not now, not in 5 years.0

akhan786ParticipantWell UK hasn’t gotten a commit in a week which must be really troubling to the folks in Lexington.
I think UK gets him but Cal is the sleeper since its on the West coast and his boy Jabari Bird recently committed there.
