TyrekeJonesParticipantThe fact that you just compared Marcus Morris to Paul Pierce makes me question your Basketball intelligence, have you seen Morris play this season and have you seen Pierce play for his career? I cannot see any similarities in their basketball game.

kphelpsParticipantIn baseball it makes sense comparing current and past players based on stats but in basketball, where style of play really defines a player, it doesn’t work at all. Marcus Morris and Paul Pierce may have put up similar statistics in college and both played for Kansas but their games are nothing alike.

thecity2ParticipantMarcus Morris compared himself to Melo and Paul Pierce in his combine interview. Said SF is his true position, but had to play 4.

MichaelJKohlParticipantThe NBA player that I would say is most similar to Paul Pierce is Caron Butler. An arbirtary similarity: they were both selected 10th in their respective drafts.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWell, pointgod3000.
You’re off to a horrid start with living up to your name.

Mr. 19134ParticipantActually in Marcus Morris compares himself to Paul Pierce and plays more like him then you think.
When you watch Marcus get the ball on the elbow he uses many of Pierces stutter steps and hesitation moves to draw contact and fade away just like Pierce. Since he played PF and C in college and he’s so big it’s hard to imagine but when I met Marcus in high school do you know what player he compared himself to? He use to always compare himself to Joe Johnson. Marcus use to run point forward a lot in high school and had a developing out side shot he actually use to play more on the perimeter then inside.
But realistically in the NBA Macus compares more to a Al Harrington type on offense.

And Travis Leslie sees himself as a better player than Tony Allen. Does that mean he is right? No 😀

Mr. 19134ParticipantThere should be no doubt that despite what we think, Marcus Morris obviously thinks he a wing in the NBA….um…I dunno how true this is but there you have it. Jared Dudley went from chunky undersized PF in college to a SG in the pro’s so it’s not unheard of.

Lotto StudParticipantThat’s a ridiculous comparison…….There were only 2 prospects to come out who I viewed as a Paul Pierce type and that was Caron Butler & Martell Webster.

ghettosermonParticipantAs a prospect Marcus Morris is similar to Joey Graham.

JoeWolf1@ghettosermon, I couldn’t disagree more. Joey Graham and his brother Steven were drafted almost strictly for their length amazing athletic ability and strength in hope they could translate into great defenders.
Marcus Morris seems to almost be the complete opposite. Morris has an versitile offensive skill set, sub par length, above average athletic ability, and good strength, but Joey Graham was reported to being able to bench 400lbs coming out of college. As prospects they couldn’t be more different.
Edit: I just wanted to fact check and Joey Graham was the fastest and strongest player in his draft class with a 36” vert.

ghettosermonParticipantI agree Marcus has a better skill set but Joey much more than his brother had a very solid all around offensive game in college. Could post up guys and hit the mid range jumper.

JoeWolf1Yeah, Joey has a pretty good mid range game and because of his strength could post up so I understand now where you’re coming from when thinking of a post/face up offensive player.
Joey was just an athletic monster coming out of college, so from a prospect standpoint I see him completely differently. I just don’t see the similarities as the players outside of a forward with inside outside game.
