“If she is the best on the board, I will take her,”

    Interesting… Crazy talk? Or no?
Would be pretty incredible if it did in fact happen.

She’d be a 6’8 210 lb center who would couple as the absolute least athletic player in the NBA with no skill actual skill or strength. She couldn’t even make a Pac 12 team, let alone the NBA.

To the genius who gave me a negative, I’ll leave this site forever if Griner makes an NBA team for any reason other then publicity. She sucks.

Just looking at her by NBA Standards. As far as skill set goes she’s the prototype for how ever long post player should play the game. IF Isiah Austin played the game the way Griner plays the game he’d be the unaminous No. 1 pick in the draft. With that being said, she’s a 6’8 210lb back to the basket player. In the NBA she’d be an undersized Power Forward and the majority of undersized Power Forwards in the NBA usually have bulk (Elton Brand, Udonis Haslem, Paul Millsap, Carlos Boozer) she doesn’t have the range or 15 foot jumper to be a stretch four or a pick and pop player either.

Lol, she couldn’t play high level college basketball, not to mention NBA. But we already know that.

For people seriously entertaining the notion of Griner, or any other female basketball player, playing in the NBA (or men’s NCAA for that matter)…… Please slap yourself in the face for me (backhand preferred, forehand accepted)

Brittney Griner will become a dominant force in the WNBA if her career is not derailed by injury. She has dunked more times in her college career than the combined total of all previous NCAAW players.

You would think a 6’8 girl would be uncoordinated and clumsy on the court…… She is not. She has got some game.

Despite what I have said, I will never watch any of her games in the WNBA.
We probably will see her in some SC top 10 plays putting other overgrown ladies in posters.

Griner Could not play High Level Boys Basketball. The only position a female could actually have a chance at playing in the NBA is PG, no chance at remotely guarding anyone, but a Turasi type player could shoot 3’s and have the skills to play offense.

I disagree with the few above who are saying “she sucks”. All these 6’10 and up Kevin Durant wannabes should play the game the way Griner plays the game and they’d go a lot higher in the draft. She’s the prototype for how a post player should play,

Fundamentally, she’s sound. You could say that about a lot of female athletes, though. She’d simply get dunked on too many times for this story to have any merit whatsoever.

She has incredible footwork, can score pretty well even when defended, and is stronger than any other woman in Division I basketball.

      BUT

She is 6’8″ and 210 lbs. She is an undersized SF, who plays C and only C. Her strength is basically maxed out. She will never be able to push ANYBODY around in the NBA. The NBA likes to draft on potential, of which Griner has almost zero. She would be one of the shortest C’s in the league, and in that situation you need a ton of strength to bull people out of the lane to get rebounds. She dunked the ball all of 18 times in her college career, as the “most dominant C in womens college basketball history” and I think that says a lot about her ability to create offense at the next level.

If or when a woman makes the NBA, she’ll be a guard. If Griner had her size and could handle and shoot at NBA levels, she’d be a great SG. Just remember, guys, Quincy Acy was 6’8′ and picture Griner and Acy going 1v1. Acy is about to flunk out of the NBA. Do the math.

Damn, even Britney Griner’s draft stock is down from this tournament. Losing in the Sweet 16 isn’t the way she wanted to go out.

I am not saying that the Grizzlies should draft Britney Griner, but I mean if we want a Rudy Gay replacement with a very late second round pick, Britney Griner might be your man.

HAHA she wouldn’t be the first women drafted..It has been two others:

In the seventh round, the New Orleans Jazz selected Lusia Harris, a female college basketball star from Delta State University, with the 137th pick. She became the second woman ever drafted by an NBA team, after Denise Long, who was selected by the San Francisco Warriors in the 1969 Draft. However, the league voided the Warriors’ selection, thus Harris became the first and only woman ever officially drafted.[ Harris did not express an interest to play in the NBA and declined to try out for the Jazz.[18] It was later revealed that she was pregnant at the time, which made her unable to attend the Jazz’s training camp, even if she had wanted to. She never played in the NBA but she later played briefly in the Women’s Professional Basketball League. In 1992, she was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame and became the first women ever inducted to the Hall of Fame. She was also part of the inaugural class of inductees of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999

I hate how he was comparing scouting Griner against girls to scouting guys at smaller school. The Florida Gulf Coast 2nd team could beat the WNBA all stars and I found it demeaning to even compare to two. I actually don’t mind Cuban but if he even gives her a tryout I will change my stance on him quickly.

Its a joke. She wasnt even as dominate as everyone seems to think. She averaged 23 8 and 4 blocks per game. Thats great, but I guarentee that 100% of nba players would do better than that in girls basketball. She wasnt even in the top 70 rebounders in the nation! Her whole game is just outmuscling girls who she has a huge height advantage on. She couldnt do that in the nba. She is always really slow!

Its a joke, just like the girl kicker who tried out for the NFL.
