MarShon Brooks
Probably, but more importantly, outside of having the ability to create his own shot he's just not a good enough basketball player.
He is best served as a sixth man chucker similar to nick young; both look great at times but at others they seem retarted.
cause he sucks
Marshon is another player who looks really good on a terrible team. He can rack up 30+ points in a loss, but when he's on a team with All-Stars his toxicity is blatantly apparent. His game has a lot of issues, but the main one is that he always dribbles with no purpose. He'll move laterally waiting for a hole to open and if he can't find a seam to cut through, he'll jack up a shot.
During his combine, scouts kept stating that he played similarly to Kobe. And it's true, he thinks he's the best player on the court and looks to take the most shots on the team. Only problem is, he is less athletic and nowhere close fundamentally to the Mamba. If Marshon can shed his ball-stopping ways he actually has a chance to be a solid player. That's a big IF though...
he has the potential to be a starter and be good.... theres a reason why guys like him and jr smith don't start... because they aren't that smart of players
No trust from Avery. Funny thing is that Brooks's fg% is way higher this year and his d rating is better as well. If he keeps hitting shots and the rest of the nets guards keep missing I don't think he can be kept off the court much longer.
its a tactic by avery johnson... play this guy in spurts to earn his PT... now that the team has a legit shot to contend in the east... he wont put up with his bs this yr
Actually I just looked this up. Brooks TS% is highest on the nets. So higher than Blatche and the other big men and not just higher than the guards. No wonder he still feels like looking for his own shot is a good idea.
well we can agree that his true shooting % would go down if he got more and more PT.... i actually like his game... hes got the talent to one day start... will it happen? not to likely
I agree his shooting percentage would probably go down. It is such a huge jump from what it was last year. And last year he started hot (which is part of where he earned this huge rep) but then fairly quickly just became another rookie shooting guard who chucked a lot and missed a lot. But he is hitting them now.
I still think he makes it onto the court for significant minutes soon. He just has to show a good attitude and work hard in practice. Both Joe and Stack are old and can't be expected not miss any time. Once one gets dinged up there will be minutes for Marshon.

Is he in in Avery's doghouse?
