Maui Invitational thread
I think Memphis beats Michigan
Duke beats Tennessee
UCLA beats Chaminade
Kansas beats Georgetown
Why does Tim Hardaway still look like he could cross someone up? Anways, here are my picks:
Memphis in a close one (this is shaping up to be a really good game)
Duke by a lot (I'm expecting Austin Rivers to get at least 20)
UCLA by a lot (Does anyone else feel bad for Chaminade? I mean, I know the university gets money for showing up, but still........ They never win)
Georgetown in an upset
I dont think Michigan has the athleticism to beat Memphis in this one, just by watching. But their zone D is effective because Memphis struggles to shoot the ball very well and they don't have a pure decision-maker. It's a nice contrast between teams that will make this game competitive
Tim Hardaway has a naturally nice jump shot, but he could be a real standout jump shooter in the NBA. He also has nice size for a swingman. He's a solid prospect
As a Memphis fan watching that game sucked! We looked liked last year's team, and Pastner was completely out coached. It's still very early though, so hopefully we improve.
Very disappointed in Memphis.
all right ucla, time to begin the 2011-12 season
no excuses, ucl has to beat chaminade. But david wear, de'end parker are both out and nelson is being held out the first half. Hopefully the gaurds step up.
There should be no way UCLA should lose to them even without those players. Shouldn't lose even if 4 out of there starting 5 was out. They might just finish in the bottom of the pac-12
ucla is not a very good team. Bigs are blowing layups and the defense is gonna give up huge numbers against any top team.Even as nelson gets back in there and the offense develops, the defense is in bad shape. Jerime andersen is the only guy who looks good for them right now, hes playing great.
man ucla looks like a whole new team this second half. Playing with passion and hitting jumpers
We got this son. I know it's not entirely relevant but Michigan lost by 2 to Duke last year in the NCAA Tournament (Michigan is better than last year and Duke is worse than last year), and two years ago Michigan beat Duke. Coach Beilein has got this figured out.
This is ucla's tournament. We're back baby
Didn't work out but Michigan did play well in the 2nd half.
Just watch the krap out for Michigan next year with McGary down low.
Michigan lacks that true, dependable post presence, so even though they're a good shooting team, they have no choice but to rely almost exclusively on the J.
McGare Bear will solve that issue next season.
Definitely have Final Four potential for next year (assuming that Hardaway comes back).
Fun fact: Tim Hardaway Sr. was my favorite player in NBA Jam on my son's Game Boy pocket 15 years or so ago.
i said earlier thatjosh smith was in better shape this year, i take that back. I watched those first 2 games at a bar and i must have been buzzed.
Yeah Lazeric Jones is not a BCS conference level player. Lamb seems to be gaining confidence but they need him to play like a senior right now, and not just an improving sophomore. Its sad that ucla is playing like this for Ben Howland, who I feel is one of the better coaches out there. What were Honeycutt and Lee thinking by leaving school to be 2nd round picks?
biggest thing is they have to improve defensively. Opponents are getting whatever they want. And reeves needs to become more of a go to player becasue no one else is standing out offensively.
bruins made a nice run at it. Down 4 with 5 minutes to go before kansas closed it out. Hopefully ucla builds off this. Great thing about college basketball is that teams have time to grow and still be in the hunt.

It starts in just a few minutes with Memphis vs Michigan. Should be a interesting game.
