Mavs Free agency
The Mavs seem to be going all out this year. With that being the case, I would almost guarantee that Dampier is gone this year. He is in what will be his final year. His contract would only be guaranteed if he plays a certain number of minutes per game this year. Kind of weird, but oh well. Anyways, even though he sucks, he should be able to pull in a nice piece.
Big baby is not a good fit for them. I like the idea of Gooden for them. He will be cheap and would probably sign for one year and he can play. He can play either the 4 or 5. He'll get destroyed some games, but he's going to be a better option than a lot of other guys. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of Dirk at the 5 spot this year. I can easily see him, Kidd, Terry, Howard, and the Matrix on the court at the same time. They would be small, but quicker than a lot of teams. I definitely think they need to get at least one solid guy at center that can block some shots and rebound. Hollins isn't that guy. And they also need another shooter. If Carroll can get his shot back, then they may have the guy that they need already.
I'm not sure who the Mavs would trade him for. My guess is that he will probably be traded around the deadline to a team that is looking to dump salary. Maybe to a team that underperforms, that needs capspace for 2010 or that just isn't that good to begin with. Cuban will have more options than most owners because he's just looking to win.
When I look at most of the teams, the only teams that would fit that description and has what Dallas needs would be New Orleans. Maybe a trade of Tyson Chandler and James Posey for Dampier Shawne Williams and Kris Humpries. The trade works salary wise. I'm sure some people will think it's a crazy trade, but New Orleans tried to give away Chandler for scraps last year and this way they could get out of both contracts. Dallas would get a shooter and a better post player back.
Milwaukee would probably do a similiar deal for Michael Redd, just to get him off their books, but he would be a huge risk because of his injuries the past few years. I am actually kind of surprised that Cuban hasn't mentioned going after Iverson. I personally wouldn't mess with him at this stage in his career, but Cuban likes to go all out and I could see him trying it.

Who do you think the Mavs should get this free agency
I think we should sign Gooden as a starter for our center position
