JoeWolf1The lottery date is just around the corner and then we can get some real mock drafts going, but I have a feeling Minnesota is going to win the lottery. It’s only a hunch, but what do they do if they get the #1 pick? They own the rights to Ricky Rubio who has played very well this season, but from they way contract negotiations went last year he doens’t wan’t to play in Minny. Flynn had an up and down rookie season, and is a solid player, but without the hype and ceiling John Wall has. Evan Turner was the best player in college basketball last season and fits in with the Wolves team needs scenario. If Minny draws the #1 ping pong ball what do you guys think they’ll do with it??

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI know the league would love the see marquee teams like the Pistons or the 76’ers get the 1st pick…I ‘ll love to see Walls, Cousins & Turner go to teams in the East..If you really look at it, some of the best players in the league resides in the West…10 of the 15 players on the All-League teams were from the West..The West is so loaded at the guard & forward spots that every year some very deserving players gets left out..

IndianaBasketballParticipantIF the T-Wolves were to land the #1 pick, they’d be in a VERY interesting siuation. They’d have A LOT of assets in their possession. They’ll have the #1 pick and two other first round picks. They have a young point guard in Flynn, who had a good rookie season. Another solid point guard in Sessions, who’s shown in the past he can be a very good starter. They have Rubio overseas, who has a lot of hype and looks like he’ll be coming to the NBA very soon. They have an All-Star caliber power forward in Jefferson and a very good power forward in Love, and the rumor is one of them could be traded this summer.
I don’t know who they’d pick, but they’d have a lot of options. They could select Turner, who’s the most NBA ready player in the draft and fits a need for their team. Or they could pick Wall, who’s the best prospect and has the most upside in the draft. I think they should select Wall regardless. He’s simply too valuable to pass up. Either you pick him and keep him (then trade Rubio/Flynn) or pick him and trade him to bring back more assets in return.
IF it were up to me… I’d draft Wall and then trade Rubio/Flynn. He’s too good to pass up… Better than everybody in the draft and better than everybody on the T-Wolves’ roster.

sacphil_08ParticipantMinnesota would go with turner I think. David Kahn is definitely not the best GM in the league as he think al Jefferson and Kevin love (2 highly skilled yet unathletic bigs) is his front line of the future. Turner fills a void for them at small forward as brewer is… Wack (for lack of a better term) turner could handle the ball as well as get to the rim and (eventually) be able to knock down jumpers. The twolves are an actual big man (a defensive minded one) and a pure shooter away from being legitimate but I don’t see Kahn ever facing that reality. They should trade Jefferson, get an actual center, keep love and draft turner and they’ll be relevant. 2 highly skilled bigs in the grand scheme of things don’t win you championships UNLESS they are BIG and highly skilled ala pau gasol and Andrew bynum (as much as I hate to admit it). But there is the possibility that Kahn drafts wall with the #1 since he is enamored with young point guards and the timberwolves would continue to flirt with 15-20 wins a season even if they drafted wall

M-DYMESParticipantI would be shocked if the T-Wolves win the lotto. We drop down seemingly every single year. The lottery is not kind to the Wolves. I have a weird feeling SAC wins it, takes Wall, and we get to see a backcourt of Wall & Evans develop together.
