JoeyGladstoneParticipantBMAC fits perfectly in that KU offense with his shooting ability & his ability to move without the ball, but shouldn’t we be questioning his ability to actually CREATE for himself & others a little more?
The guys athleticism is ridiculous & to only have ONE game with 3 or more assists seems a little weak.
I just feel like he doesn’t have the best of handling abilities & decision making skills when he gets by his defender.

redone1ParticipantYou’re correct. He doesn’t have very good handles and creating ability. That’s why no one is calling him the next Kobe but rather the next Brad Beal

Kyrie IrvingBradley Beal, taller, more athletic/ explosive, better shooter off the catch and off the bounce, better defender.

Piston088ParticipantTaller? Nope. That’s why Beal got Eric Gordon comps galore coming into the draft. It’s also why people are comparing McLemore to guys like Ray Allen or Rip; his body type is far more similar to those guys than Beal or Gordon.

Kyrie IrvingWhat are you trying to say, i don’t get?
Is he not taller than Beal?0- Posted on: Tue, 02/12/2013 - 8:05am #746702
Piston088ParticipantWhat I thought you were saying was that Bradley Beal was taller, more explosive, etc. If you were trying to say that about McLemore I’m with you, but I think the only reason you got negative points was that people read it the same way I did.

PaulsJayhawksParticipantKu’s offense is very very structured and hes not asked to create. He’s asked to shoot and even that he doesn’t do enough. Hes too unselfish right now but that will change.
Give the kid a break its his birthday today and his line was 9 of 13 including 6 of 10 from deep and 6 of 6 from the line.

SiggyParticipantHe doesn’t create much of his own offense but I actually think he’s a good passer. Whoever drafts him will be running a bunch of single double action, which IMO can be just as effective as PnR because of all the options that can come off of it.

phila9012ParticipantNothing wrong with being a more athletic rip hamilton. He still has time to improve too, so he could be a rich mans rip hamilton.

SiggyParticipantA more athletic Rip Hamilton with legit 3 pt range is a perennial all-star and low 20s scorer.

KayjayParticipantI hope the Kings/Sonics get a hold of him. Lol lord knows they could use a player who doesn’t need to dominate the ball in order to be effective.

rileymcshea3ParticipantIf he was on the kings he probably wouldn’t get the ball, that whole team is just selfish, I hope McLemore doesn’t go there. Jammer would at least be a decent player on any other team in the league

JoeWolf1Like some have said, his role isn’t to distribute. KU swings the ball around the perimeter a lot and he is more than willing to make the extra pass, in addition he’s shown nice touch on lobs and hitting the open man in the break. Not every SG will average 4 or 5 apg and that’s not a bad thing. It’s not Ben’s game to create shots, he’s as pure a sharpshooting SG as there is, but he is a good and willing passer.

phila9012ParticipantI know minnesota wont have a chance to draft him, but any team like that with a pass first point guard would be great for him. Then he will get his touches and be able to be a finisher which is what he is.

JoeWolf1I agree completely, I think if he were paired with a healthy Ricky Rubio he’d be dropping 15+ ppg as a rookie. I think Philly would be a good fit for him too, playing between Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner, but they’ll most likely end up with a pick in the teens.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantHes a Ray Allen type.. He has ball handling and driving ability, he just does not have to use it in this offense. Cant pass up on him in the draft, his upside is too high

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantDoes anyone here remember Ray Allen with the bucks?? HAHAH i do. He was a GREAT scorer, stop looking at allen now and comparing B mac to some stand still. If you watch him you know he can create if he needs to. People thought Harrison Barnes couldnt create either, now look what hes doing on the warriors. Its all about a system and getting better in the gym. He just turned 20, dude has tons of potential

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantHas anyone ever noticed that Eric Gordon was 6’3.25″ with shoes on and Bradley Beal is 6’3.25″ without shoes. He’s almost 6’5 with shoes on. 6’4.75 to be exact, so why does everyone still speak as if he’s a midget on this site. He’s taller than Waiters, and he’s the same height as D-Wade with shoes on, and half an inch shorter when they’re both barefoot. He’s probably taller than Wade with shoes on, now that Wade wears those ugly ling ning Way of Wade’s. lol
Remember last year before the draft everyone was saying Jeremy Lamb was going to measure out at like 6’6, or 6’7 because he’s so lean and lanky, and then he measured in at 6’4 flat barefooted, and 6’5.25 with shoes on. I think people are doing the same thing with McLemore, he may not be 6’5, he may be shorter, on their high school tapes he looks the same height as Beal, he’s just leaner, Beal has a strong built body even though he was only 202 pounds. So if Mclemore is shorter does he still get a Ray Allen/Rip comparison?
I also agree with what someone said earlier, all shooting guards don’t have to average 4-6 assists. I do think Ben needs to be able to create his own shot better though. If he can find the ability to shoot better off the dribble and in traffic, or with tight defense, it could be the difference in 18 points a game, and 25.
I just say look at OJ Mayo and look at James Harden, OJ is a scorer, but he doesn’t create contact and get to the line, and he doesn’t really make tough shots unless it’s a contested 3 pointer. Harden does those things and it’s a difference of 7 points.
