Lotto StudParticipantWhere is Melo actually from, because one minute he says he’s from B-More then the next he’s from Brooklyn? I am very confused and I’m wuite sure he is too, I think he has an identity crisis.

BKKnicksfanParticipantBorn in Brooklyn, raised most of his life in Baltimore.

Lotto StudParticipantI was born in Camden, NJ & raised in VA …… I don’t rep NJ @ all because that is not where I am from. IMO it’s not where you are born it’s where you are raised.

RUDEBOY_Participantboth melo and the nuggets front office are destroying the entire team..while they’re waiting on the Knicks to come up with a great offer..Becuz Melo wont resign with the Netsif he’s traded there…

HotSnotParticipantMelo is half a season away from complete freedom. I don’t believe he’s going to sign an extension with a team who just stripped its roster of talent to acquire him. How is that better then remaining in Denver? Melo is 5 months away from choosing his own destiny. Why would he give that up?

HitsterParticipantYep, Melo can choose his destiny in the summer and go to the Garden if he wants to, he can join the existing Knicks team and they just drop one of Gallo, Chandler or Fields to the bench. The Knicks will probably look to add a veteran big and or an intangibles guy with their MLE if that is available. The Knicks then have two franchise players in STAT and Melo and can go forward under Coach D’Antoni.

mj23mj23besteverParticipanthes taking a huge risk but not signing an extension now cause of the looming cba owners are desperatley trying to reduce max contracts as part of the new cba

WizardofOzParticipantYeha Melo was bron in Brooklyn but calls B-More home because he was raised there all his life.
And I do think that it would be a mistake for NJ to acquire Melo. They’re giving away all there young assets for someone that will not resign and will get them stuck in 7th/8th seed purgatory. They would be better off sucking this year and using all the draft picks they acquired via trade to get some good people in the draft.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI was born in Toronto, but I had family in Oregon. So, I loved it there and visited often, than went to school there and lived there for a while. I mean, what group is more New York than Gang Starr? Well, Premo is from Texas and Guru was from Boston. Plus, I know Drake definitely reps Toronto, but he seems to be more Houstalantavegas these days. Rakim said it best, and you were slightly off Memphis, "It ain’t where you’re from it’s where ya at…"

IndianaBasketballParticipantMelo is set money wise for the rest of his entire life. He could retire today and not only would he be set, but his family would be set. His kids’ families will be set.
He could lose money by waiting until the summer to become a free-agent, but are those extra millions he’d lose really worth signing the prime of his career away to a potentially garbage team?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 01/17/2011 - 10:17am #475805
HitsterParticipantFully agree, Melo can wait until the summer, even if contracts are cut he’ll get the maximum available or maybe the max the Knicks can pay him. He could even S and T with Denver if any potential new team throws in a first rounder for example, at least Denver get something back then like Toronto and Cleveland did from Miami.
I see Hoopshype has said Melo will not meet with the Nets hence the extension seems unlikely to be signed and any trade seems uncertain.

goneParticipantI agree he sees the multiple all star teams and won’t sign an extension on a team without another star

LAKE SHOWYea I read he won’t meet with the nets yesterday but I just heard on espn that he has scheduled to meet with Jay-z and the Russian so I guess they changes his mind. I also don’t agree with him going there since they are gutting the team for him. He says winning a title is his main concern so there should only be a select few teams he would sign with and that chi,Orlando,Dallas because the other teams aren’t close ( Nets,Clippers,Knicks) and yeah he has a life time of money but alot of NBA players do but they still want more. If they didn’t they would sign for leauge min for the experience they have. When you’re rich you want more seems to be the way things are
