Is it just me or does anyone else think that this guy will be a bust? I feel that he is going to take the same kind of route that Cole Aldrich took to the NBA. Someone will end up taking him in the Lottery just because he is a 7-footer. Leonard’s stats this year and Cole’s stats from his Junior year at Kansas are pretty similar also. They have his comparison set as Andrew Bynum, but I feel that there is no way that he gets on Bynum’s level. When I watch him play it seems like he doesn’t even care out there. It seems like he is just out there because he is tall. I am not saying he is a stiff either he is doing well in college, but I don’t think his game will translate to the NBA.

I really like his combination of scoring instincts and agility in a 7-footer (I’m not sure if he’s 7-1 as listed, but that wouldn’t hurt). I actually like that defense isn’t what defines him, but he’s still an imposing defender because of his sheer size and he’s improving as a shot blocker. He’s putting up awesome numbers for a young 7-1 guy who barely played as a freshman and I think he’s too mobile and coordinated not to make it at the next level, even if that means as a career backup center. I think he’s better than that, though, especially in this era of centers. When you think of busts like Thabeet, you realize just how much more skilled and competent a basketball player Leonard is. I could see a team like Cleveland, Houston or Minny giving him a hard look as a potential franchise center.

Leonard is basically the polar opposite of Cole Aldrich (who would still be a highly useful player in the right situation), so I’m not sure why you would compare the two.

His motor is inconsistent, but he’s far too talented all-around to be labeled a future bust by anybody.

He has neither athleticism nor monster stats.  He has hardly even played before this season.  He was only a good, not great prospect.

Enlighten me, why is he said to be a lottery pick?  Its like BJ Mullens all over again (though BJ is starting to do well, so…)

He’s gonna be a bust. He is only projected in the lottery because he’s a 7 footer putting up decent numbers in the big 10. Someone else mentioned Cole Aldrich. He seems like the poor mans Aldrich, and if Cole can’t play in the NBA this guy sure can’t.

He’s actually a very good athlete for his size.

And if you only judge talent based on stats and athleticism, you’re no better than cyclo.

I’m with johnynocash in this one if you don’t think hes a good athlete you need to watch him more, and he already has a more advanced repertoire of post moves then Aldrich has right now.

Yeah y’all gotta watch games if you think he’s not athletic. I do think he gotta work on his toughness as he is a bit soft and his motor isn’t great, but he has a soft touch, a nice jump jook as a go-to move, and he has nice size with a frame that has filled out alot since he was in HS. I think he’ll have to get tougher to really be a consistent player at the NBA level though, he’s going to have to work harder to do things in the NBA more so than he is doing right now. Plenty of time though
