the game was under the sun and SDSU had the sun on their scoring side and literally everyone in that team looked terrible because of it. they couldn’t even make FTs.

with that said. Michael Carter Williams was Very impressive. at 6’6 he has PG handles and creates for everyone. he has very complete offensive game and a very good athlete. he has that quick first… there was no1 who could keep up with him, he was blowing by people left and right

    dropped 17points 4ast 4rebs 5 steals on 47fg% in very stylish manner.

there were no passes going through him, he picked off everything in the passing lanes using his length and speed open floor

Even the announcers were like "Steve Fisher should throw this game film away, they wont get anything out of it"

Having games on these carriers is a great gesture, but after this year I think a bunch of top teams will re-think signing up for them.  Basketball teams shouldn’t have to factor in the wind into their game strategy.

The conditions on these ships… and being on the freaking ocean, just aren’t ideal for basketball.

The steals were great but I wasn’t impressed by him offensively. He was super aggressive but he was out of control and showed poor decision making, forcing the issue a lot and taking some bad shots. He likes to have the ball in his hands, but if I was ‘Cuse I’d rather have the ball in Triche’s hands more.

I was much more impressed by CJ Fair.  He’s got a very smooth and controlled game.  He has a pretty lefty jumper with a tough to stop pull up game.  He’s got very good size and athleticism for SF too.

Nice showing in his first big game with a lot of playing time. Hopefully its a sign of things to come. He has a ton of potential to be a great PG at 6’6 and a ridiculous wingspan. His court vision and passing abilities were visible last season and have carried over, and I can see him averaging between 10-15 PPG this season depending on which player, if any, decides to step up and become the go to option.

The two weaknesses I think he needs to work on are his strength and handles. He definitely put on some muscle over the offseason, but he still needs to add more before getting to the next level. And his handles right now are decent, but he needs to tighten it up a little more. This was the first game (unless you count last years St. John’s game) where we really got to see what he had to offer, so maybe he’ll show improvements or have some other weaknesses exposed, but for now it is a great start.

Agree with you saying that MCW was careless at times, but I feel like every player on both teams were careless for the whole game. It was a really sloppy basketball game. Maybe it was due to it being the first game of the season. Maybe it was due to it being outside with 13 MPH winds. Or maybe they just naturally were playing sloppy. I expect the turnovers to go down for both teams, as well as the airballs. I’m definitely against outdoor games now after watching both teams airball it about 10 times combined.

And I’ve loved Triche ever since he came in as a freshmen. He’s started all 108 games he’s been in at Cuse. He’s a 6’4 215 combo guard who has a good jumper, but lives at the rim. He can score at the rim with his strength, but also isn’t afraid to grab some boards. He’s one of those players that I feel goes under the radar, but really makes the team so much better, even if he also made some careless mistakes.

And CJ Fair had a great game. Double-double. Between the exhibitions and this game he’s showed he’s expanding his range out to the 3-point line. He was automatic from 10-15 feet along the baseline last year. I bet he shot 75% from the baseline. So if he gets range out to the 3 point line he could be really dangerous.

do you think carter williams can end up in the lotto?

i think he is a guy who has the potential to show out in the combine and make a team fall in love with his potential, all around game and length

P.S. triche and CJ were very nice today. i didn’t know triche was so fast

terrible. everyone look bad with the sun in their face…

jammal was aggressive and got those FT but couldn’t even convert them. no1 could make a shot. Winston Shepard took plenty of bad shots and played sloppy.

at one point i ‘stopped watching’ SDSU and just kept my eyes on Syracuse

i can’t say the sun and conditions were the only reasons why SDSU lost…syracuse is definitely a better overall team

CJ Fair impressed me the most yesterday..I think his stock will go up as the season goes on….

And almost all of the games played on aircraft carriers this weekend were a joke, from the floor being wet, to the sun bothering players sight…They need to come up with a better idea to honor vets…Playing under those conditions are both dangerous for the players and a bore for the fans, becuz we have long waits until the floor dries and have to deal with sloppy play…..
