Michael Carter-Williams on the Rise
He's a 21 year old sophmore who's bigger and stronger than people give for. Due his strength, quickness, and handle, he's great at getting into the paint. Due to the fact that he's play for Syracuse, he's gonna get a lot of hype and get picked too high in the lottery like Waiters, Wes Johnson, Donte Greene, and Johnny Flynn before him.
If you're going to say he'll get overhyped, and get picked too high in the lottery like Donte Greene, then you should get your facts straight. Greene almost slipped into the second round.
Greene has the ability to score 20 PPG and has done it before, but just doesn't do it consistently or get the minutes to contribute.
Waiters is just a rookie, so it's way to soon to call him a star or a bust.
Flynn had a good rookie season at 14-4 but then got hurt, and was never given a chance in the league again.
Johnson hasn't really found his role in the NBA. Doesn't help that Beasley stole PT in Minny and now Phoenix.
As for MCW, he has great court vision and awareness. He makes excellent passes, and can get to the rim or shoot the ball. Not many holes in his game at the college level. He plays good defense at the top of the zone with his long 6'5 frame. I would agree that adding more strength would help, because he probably wouldn't score as easily in the NBA as he is now. But I see him as a top 20 pick, with potential to go between 7-14 if he continues to play well.
He may be stronger than given credit for but he's still 175 pounds; he will get eaten alive in the NBA. You just said another redflag about him, he's a 21 year old sophmore
Firssstttt of all, what is wrong with a 21 year old sophmore?!?! Theres 21 year old kids in prep school these days lol..So what is a good age for a soph, 19,20? 21 years old is really not that old trust me. In some cases it may be considered young haha. and someone above mentioned lorenzo brown and marcus smart on the rise(implying that theyre better) maybe marcus smart but lorenzo brown???? got to be kidding me. MCW is very good, people say cause hes @ syracuse he's hyped up more. I really dont see any hype(except for this post) if anything hes UNDERATED. Trust me, in a few months when big east games start there will be a MCW bangwagon
I honestly don't think it's a stretch at all to think that he could be a lottery pick.
Seriously, look at what he brings to the table:
6'5" frame to build some muscle on
Excellent feel for the game; seemingly always in the right place at the right time, reads defenses extremely well, picks his spots very well, etc.
Very good at using his length to pick people's pockets
Very good rebounder for a guard
Excellent passing skills
Good form on his shot (results have varied so far though)
Good floater in the lane
I think he should be expected to be First Team All-Big East and could be a sleeper to make one of the All-American teams this year. The man just fills the statsheet.
I could easily see him playing a James Harden OKC kinda role in the NBA where he can play SG but he'll be a team's playmaker from that position.

What out for Carter-Willie!!!
He could easily be a lotto pick this year. Too much potential.
He can run a team at the college level and create buckets for others at will. Career high 11 assist last game, and already has 5 tonight.
He subbed out the game and Syracuse automatically lost a spark
